pm'd ya mountaindoo. thought about mounting my taillight like yours with the bracket but was affraid of smashing it when i roll it:( f7 arctic cat what do you think about the 2 wheel kit? did you actually buy a conversion or just pull the outer 2 wheels and make spacers to take up the room for the outer wheel bearings? i'm gonna try the cheap way and just make spacers, almost a free mod! i would be very leary of towing with the bumper, unless you have to would not recommend it! forgot to mention also makes it a lot easier when digging out, you don't have the rear boards in the way and you don't have to worry about them dragging you down when you take off! also running the mini snowflap eliminates having to dig that darned thing out:) love the way you can trench the rear end down 2-3 feet, just not so great when you stick it and the top of your tunnel is half way to china!!!

f7arcticcat, nice pick of the sleds back to back. really shows the difference in the taper of the tunnels. looks awesome!!!

Ron- Thankx for the P/M I'm going to do it this weekend.

I have rolled the sled and the tail light survived.
I have reinforced it and it has come thru everytime- I think the bag helps also, but it is not always there
I put JB weld on the wireconnection running into the light- this really supported the harness and gave it strength/ wiring was straight forward- I bought the light from them at EXPO

BDX didn't have their 2 wheel conversion out yet- and I bought a Timberline suspension and I asked if they could make me a 2 wheel conversion for my sled-( I saw one in their photo's.)
I sent in my entire rear axle assembly and they machined the stock spacers and guides and the rear axle- I flipped my adjusters to the inside..

I have been running this all season- with no Issues at all- It sidehills much easier-and I can maintain a side hill so very long with less input.
No derailing in reverse ( like some I have heard about)
Oh Yeah - And it LOOKS COOL:cool:

heres a pic of the wow, my camera is pretty lame so i don't know if you can really see it or not. its hollow and the metal is really soft so it doesn't take much to get it to bend.

thought i'd bump this back up to the top, am getting sooooo many pm's! is one great mod, works great and dare i say it looks AWESOME:) yes i dare!!!

I did this to mine in February, had allot of guys ask me about my tail light. I think for the guy's with the exchanger rubbing on the bumper, they should look at installing the 09 rear exchanger, I am going to for a cleaner look.

Wow, great job, the difference between before and after is huge. Certainly cleaner to look at, and makes sense it would trap and hold less snow.

Support Brackets

I got a call from Mike @ BDX and they are fab'n support brackets for the conversion kit. This is supposed to eleminate the movement of the exchanger.
Yahoo!!!

Will post Pic';s when I get them in and Installed.

Thanks to input from our customers and our own testing we did discover there may be an issue with the support of the very rear of the tunnel.

What the issue is the rear of the tunnel is may not be strong enough to support the cooler and the tunnel may crack from the vibration.

I am sure I do not have to tell you that though.. :)

We are making and update kit with support brackets that we will be sending to everyone.

Attached is a picture of the update kit installed. It consists of the 2 brackets, hardware and instructions needed to install.

If you look close you can also see the silicone between the cooler and bumper, this is required for extra vibration/rubbing protection.

Thank you
Mike

way to go mike! talk about the forum in action! making a great product even better:) will be looking forward to getting them in the mail!

Love the look, but I can't have a mountain sled I can't tow a buddy out with.

Mike, do you guys sell just the foot holds for the tunnel? I'd love to get a set of those and retain the stock bumper for pulling buddies out. As I'm sure my friends would too.

Mike any testing done by your group on the integerity of the rear bumper?

I can state for a fact that in heavy wet snow and buried deep- 2 BIG guys reefing on the bumper to lift a stuck sled with a suspension filled with snow there is NO FLEX- NO concerns on a straight up pull....
Time will come to to test a rear pull and I hope it doesn't V on us....:clock:

rear bumber
