2024 Polaris Snowmobiles Launch

Christopher what would Polaris have to release for you to consider changing brands?
Wow
Now that right there is one hell of a question.
For me and my VERY mixed style of riding (Lots of both Trail and Off-Trail) and being 60yrs old, I REALLY like the ease of riding on the T-Motion w/Flex Edge track that Doo offeres me. Enough so that I sold my brand new Gen5 Turbo Expert the evening after riding it for one day. It reminded me of riding on a Polaris.

The single strongest attraction to Polaris for me is the Electronics in the 7S display. I think Poo is DOMINATING Doo with that tech right now, but Poo has been just PLAGUED with dependability and recall issues of late, and like my Yamahas of old, the single most important thing to me is that the sled RUNS all season long.

So I am not really sure what could pull me over to a Polaris.
I have yet to take one out for a ride that I really deeply enjoyed riding on.
It may just be an age thing, but I always feel more tired riding on Poos than on Doos at the end of the day.

So reliability and ease of riding and a gauge as good as Polaris has? For sure it takes time to get muscle memory for a steering geometry you are not used to. (goes both ways) As for easy riding the Polaris is harder to turn and initiate in harder snow if your body is above the bars, like trail riding or slow speed riding. Doo, you can apply weight on one end of the bar or the other to turn. Polaris you need to push and pull. For agressive riding you countersteer and roll. This is when Polaris gets fun. Especially when you have a model that is way lighter. The light models don't have e-start or a turbo though. The good thing is these N/A sleds run so good now that they won't give you problems (2022,2023 850's). Polaris made big changes to the ecm and flywheel pickups for the Matryx which makes them run extremely well. The 9R is a first year sled so will need some tweaking. T-motion on the Doo is a band-aid that is slowly being less required as Doo has been addressing the real issues of heavy weight and a wide track. Both these things are slowly going away. I'm not trying to talk you out of the Doo but rather saying that both these brands are moving closer to perfection. People need to keep checking in with what other brands are doing or they might end up missing out on their perfect ride. I am 58 and rode Doo for 30 years and loved it. I was shocked when I bought a 700 Polaris for my son and it was beating up on my 800XP. I went fully to Polaris in 2013 and became a better rider. I am not getting younger and a sled that is 30-40 lbs lighter is very appearant. Now Doo is catching my attention once again with the promise of lighter chassis and 15" wide tracks. I will be watching the Polaris release closely too.

I like what you said about the ECM and the flywheel on the Matrix. I have a 21 NA Axis. but every time I ride it, it pisses me off because it doesn’t run anywhere near as good as my NA Matrix . Is there anyway you can spend money on the Axis to make it run like the Matrix that you’ve heard? Axis is the worst starting when cold. Matrix starts and runs amazing. Axis is just so so period.

I have a 19 and a 23 . The 19 runs almost as well too, but on its 4th flash. 3 pulls to start when cold while my 23 is second pull. Some earlier models seem to run better than others. Buddy has a 21 Axys and it was always poor when cold and would foul plugs. He had it in recently for the gas tank update and it came back running better than ever. No more black streak in the snow on grabbing a handful of throttle.. We think it got another flash without them letting him know. You won't be able to make your Axys quite as good as the Matryx but it should be close if it is set up properly. If you have had the latest flash and it is running fat, try one heat range hotter on the spark plugs. This does improve them if they are fouling plugs. Also the 9R and Boost are advertised as getting the Red Cobra cord. My 23 850 has a new black cord that does not stretch, I believe a black Cobra. It is amazing how much easier it makes it to start the sled. My wife can start this one and not others.

Good info. Thanks for the reply back. I have a call into the dealer to see if they can tell me what flash she might be on hopefully. ??

Still waiting on my 23 boost. Sitting at built ready to ship for a couple weeks with last delivery date of 2/28. This morning they changed the date yet again. Not pissed, just seriously disappointed.

At this point I'd let it go and get a 24. Maybe they would fix their crappy wiring harness and a few other things. Rumor also has it they might be coming with a 3.5p 3inch or bigger.

Seriously.
Is it really worth taking delivery this late in the season when the 24s will be upon you in just days now?

I’d take the sled.

The supply chain issues are NOT cured and there are no guarantees.

We have many machine shops and fab shops shut down for lack of profit due to inability to get raw product or cost if they can.
Interest rates and shipping rates could end up making Covid issues look profitable.

I am not a doomsdayer, just very involved in parts supply chain.

You should be getting a $750 discount because that's what Polaris is discounting backed out snow checks. And I think its still worth taking one now then backing out and trying again next year.
I'm noticing prices of backed out snowchecka even if you pay for warranty ro get back to snowcheck levels better then what I locked in my snowcheck at. If my 23 ever shows I'm thinking dealer won't be able to move it ans I'll buy it with the new rebates ??

There's a couple boosts and 9rs on the floor at Gallatin Rec, I was killing some time in there the other day and was surprised to hear that they had rebates on them. $750 under msrp for a brand new in-season sled is the best deal I've seen since the beginning of covid.

Have been on BRP sleds since -19 but the local dealer got kicked out and switched to Polaris. So I'm thinking about shopping around for a left over -23, or perhaps -22, Khaos this spring/summer.

Is there much of a difference between -22 and -23 that would affect reliability?
Will be looking for a 850 N/A 155" with no fancy gauge, or at least I wont pay anything extra for it.

you must have built a unicorn.
there are tons of snowcheck sleds at dealers.
I backed out of my snowcheck, but picked up a 9R and a Boost that were on the floors at local dealers
