2023 RMK

Electric motors have a better power to wight ratio, sounds good? Slight catch is the fuel. let me give you an extreme example of the comparison of energy to weight ratio of Elec vs Fossil fuel. An airliner, A320 for example has a takeoff weight of 80 tons, 25% of that is fuel and 40% is the airframe and 25% is passengers / cargo. So the math rounded off is 80 tons Max take off weight - 20 tons fuel 20 tons pax / cargo, and 40 tons airframe. It would take 120 tons of batteries to power the aircraft with electricity. The plane would need to have 140 tons of extra weight just to structurally support the batteries. Additionally a significant amount of energy would be required just to heat the batteries to a range for them to be operable in the low temps we ride in. Another example is with the simi truck, where it would be a large mobile battery with very little payload.

going to a 900 doesnt really make sense to me as they now have Boost. If you ride an NA and want more power the Boost is their answer. Or go after market. How long was an 800 in various forms around before they went 850, and there was umpteen big bore kits and turbo kits availiable. I think BNG and maybe an electric in a year or 2

So...if I was in charge lol. I'd be the first manufacturer to do a "ultra-lightweight" factory "mod" sled. I'd do it with the most influential aftermarket guys and it would come with a factory wrap cost a ****-load and only the coolest of kids would buy it. It would have no warranty and would be marketed as the highest power to weight ratio snowmobile ever being manufactured. The snowcheck would have ever single part available to change. Factory custom. Call it the fly and die. Let some of the best mountain riders and mechanics and racers decide what's best. Whataya think?

Probably sell at least 5 of them the first year.

That would be cool. KTM and Honda both offer a "factory" or "works" edition of their competition mx bikes....they aren't quite as balls-out as you could go with a sled, but roughly same idea you are thinking And race bikes have somewhere between 0 and 30 days of factory warranty (depending on brand) and somehow life goes on.

I think there might be something in the works for a special model/edition of some type....maybe not right in line with what you're thinking. But something.

I'd love to throw my leg over a Tiaga! They interest me ...
Who knows if I would own one. Definitely would need some demo days for sure!
My lithium Ion Dewalt battery says not to charge it when the temp is below 40 degrees or it won't charge properly. How is that going to work out for a snowmobile? Everyone will need a heated garage to park in?

BNG. Fewer color combos to simplify their build schedule. Khaos Boost 165. Maybe a Boost 146. Fox QS3 option. P22 on non-Boost 850. Limited build qtys for all Slash RMKs. Axys RMK is history. Typical Y2 stuff. Big price increases. They don't need to do anything new until they see what doo and AC have behind the curtain. Just WAG. Don't know and don't care if a 4s makes an appearance in the trail sleds.

The late deliveries haven't hurt them in the pocket this model year. It will in 23. Dealers, a different story. Everything they do in 23 will be around profit planning.

Boost doesn't replace a NA sled unless you are old, fat, and out of shape. The Factory turbo was a giant leap from the aftermarket turbos but still not even close to replacing an NA sled.

Would you guys buy electric snowmobiles? Let's say they work as well or maybe just a hair worse.

define 'hair'

I'd love to have an e sled for the stealth factor but I watch guys in those taiga videos and uh.....yeah. That is not a nimble snowmobile.

NA vs. big bore is a topic burandt has discussed at length. BB is lighter, with fewer moving parts.

BNG is obvious to help 23 buyers feel like they bought something new.

Yes they do, and the sled OEMs should do the same in making factory/works editions. But let's be honest about the main difference in warranty, a moto has FAR fewer moving parts and systems than a modern sled. Replacing a top end (what usually fails) on a moto is NBD compared to doing a lower end/crank on a sled.

Or, if you want the feel of an NA (which is different than a turbo). Fact of the matter is, when you get your arms stretched every time you hit the throttle it tires you out faster, regardless of fitness/fatness. NA has a lot of good purposes. When riding super tech it's honestly easier to ride an NA in my experience.

Would love to see something make a few more HP, stay smooth and reliable.

And can we finally get some vents that allow the sled to breathe in deep snow?

seriously

what's up with this trophy booze BS?
Yeah, I had surgery on my digestive system back in May. Can't process alcohol quite yet and hard to burp. Sucks, part of going back to business school I went through University of Nebraska's brewers program. So for now all the bottled and kegged stuff I gave to friends. Equipment, bottles and kegs just sitting empty. Just have 10 gallons left of German Apfelwine in 2 fermenters. Looks and smells delish, Normally drink the stuff just 3-5 months old and it's like a dry bubbly champagne. I'm guessing now it would be like damn nice carbonated apple cider that kicks like a mule. Not quite Applejack, but a good wine cooler type drink but stronger in flavor and alcohol.

The one I'm really disappointed in was the Russian Imperial Stout I made. That was pushing 4 years and just bottled last January. A single 16oz bottle at 10.6%ABV was enough to get you half lit. Thick rich with a hint of cherry flavor from the yeast in the long fermentation, so smooth and went down easy.

omigod

that literally happened to the worse person imaginable

I'm so sorry. Shoot me your address and I'll mail you any non-digestive tract dependent drug you want. I'd be losing my **** in your position. (sorry, bad metaphor)

I don't know why they wouldn't

worked great last time
Haha so true!

If they do release a 900 I would love to try it out in its first year, it couldn't be any worse then the 17 850 Doo I had that ate belts every ride and blew a motor at around 1200 mile mark.
