I agree. People forget that they have always had a short tunnel, short cooler etc. They also dont bend when you look at them funny.. Nobody can touch the 3 inch power claw on the Alpha yet. The mono rail is new and different. The 800 runs with the 850s all day long. They due need some fine tuning, but they do make a good sled. Funnest factory sled I had ridden so far. I am not brand loyal, but I also know that it is nothing like the 2012 chassis that all the idiots like to compare it to. They do treat their dealers like garbage. I hope they stay in the game. Currently own a '19 alpha turbo, ' 20 850 rmk and have a 22 poo turbo on the way. Switching mostly for dealer support. Hope cat stays alive.

People forget because cat doesn't advertise those things. The short tunnel hasn't been mentioned since like '09 when it came out. Short cooler had a brief introduction in what, 2014? The rear tunnel section does bend very easily though, I bent one (don't even know how I did it) and both of my friends who owned them bent theirs. The good thing with it is that it can be replaced cheaply and easily.
There are just so many simple things cat could have done in the last 3 years to keep people interested. A simple stub of a snow flap like the other 2 have done on their short tunnel sleds, maybe shorten the tunnel by another couple inches, the accessory running boards (from their own damn catalog!), clean up the handlebars, fix the snow intake issues, relocate the battery/ put the smaller seat on ES models, drop a little weight off the front end, maybe a belt drive, raised "elevate"- style spindles, improve plastics fitment and build quality, actually provide a warranty on snowchecks...
I'll be looking to snowcheck next spring and if Cat drops something new and exciting I'll strongly consider it, however Doo will likely be dropping a Gen5 and the new Matryx slash is very nice and very refined even if it does still use the Axys bulkhead and suspensions. For me to go Cat, it will have to have vast improvements in build quality, lose some weight in the front half of the sled, and have a decent factory warranty, 3 to 4 years. I'm not buying a first year model with only 1 year warranty, period.
I likely won't opt for boost in any brand, but it would really help Cat's market share to offer either Boost, or at least an 850ish motor. Yeah I know the ctec 800 is fine, but most consumers are simple-minded idiots who think they need the biggest, baddest thing even if they can't ride it near its full potential.
