2022?

20% more acceleration? Um they didnt change the track, gearing or clutching on the standard 850 as well as adding weight to the sled. So where did you make up that number?
Is it cause they finally got the mapping close enough that the 850s finally run right?

Its probably the drivers eliminating the ratchet

Polaris slaps a short cooler and new plastics on an axys to get the matryx and it becomes a “highly refined” new chassis. Cat makes even more changes and refinements from the 2012 proclimb to the ascender platform and they’re made fun of and treat as if the 2012 and 2021 are the exact same sled.

Why is that?
New chassis? No one ever called it a new chassis, it is an Axys chassis but it is highly refined in everyway, they have fixed basically every single complaint from years past. It is narrower, simpler, and has better fit and finish.

There are so many thing on the Polaris that just make sense about the way its built. Fewer parts (fasteners, hardware etc), shorter lighter wiring harness, shorter lighter intake tract (Cat intake... ? ), boards improved once again, bar setup once again improved, tunnel reimagined, stupidly simple belt drive, new lock and ride system, a gauge that track your friends, you can litterally set the temperature by the degree that you would like your warmers at. Theres a million little things that make so much sense on the Polaris, the Cat is the exact opposite.

Literally every sponsored Polaris rider on Instagram says “I love how this NEW CHASSIS feels!” So I wouldn’t say nobody has said it is a new chassis because quite a few have....

So like I said, they finally figured out the mapping. Polaris' 5 year approach to mapping is the same as Cats approach to chassis changes.
From a guy who rides and loves Polaris, but doesn't owe them a damn thing- Yes the mapping on some of the 850s has been trash, and that's bullshit. It should have been fixed within weeks of the first 2019's being on the snow. It should not have taken 4 years to get it right.

Its also BS that the series 8 was released without extroverts and an anti stab. I'm glad I didn't buy a 21 for that reason, but its good they have listened and are making an effort to remedy that problem for 2022.

I have not heard anyone call it a new chassis. Its being referred to as the Matryx Platform, which is fair.

Edit- ok just heard Turcotte call it the "new matryx chassis". I think we all know its not a new chassis, and honestly its not even an argument worth having.

20% better "response" is the claim- Erik Woog says new high resolution engine management, whatever that means, but he claims its significant, and said the difference is like going from a 21 850 to one of HIS big bore 911's or a Carl 900. Which is a bold claim for someone who builds and sells the 911 kit. His words, not mine.
It was also mentioned by their head of engineering Marty Sampson. It's funny to watch some of the people that obviously have not been riding the brand for a few years just shrug off all of these changes as if they are nothing. Never seen a manufacturer release many changes in one model year release.

I love my Axsys and am glad the platform is familiar and relatively the same underneath but much improved with the changes they did make. More room to move around on the sled, new tunnel design for less drag in the snow and less snow and weight build up. New adjustable toe holds, better fit and finish with new plastics etc. My group as well as myself have had very few issues with reliability since 2012 pros.

Most who talk trash about Polaris reliability haven't ridden them since before 2010. I would have a bad taste in my mouth too.

Say what? Did you take some kind of a poll or are you just ignorant? Why are you on the cat forum complaining about green blinders and do nothing but praise the Poo? When was the last Cat you've ridden? All you are doing is talking sh!t and instigating. Why does it bother you so much that a few people like there Alpha's? You even have Gobig joining in. Your both ridiculous.

Call me ignorant all you want. I ride with around 30 people, 80% of whom have been on Polaris the last 8 or so years. I'd call that a poll of sorts. We've never towed one out. I think I stated earlier in this thread the only one that has had motor issue on 2011 that got a top end after a dealer inspection.

The last Cat I rode was a 2019 Alpha 165x3. Like I said they are very capable. I honestly was impressed by how well it worked. But I also am not blind to all the stupid **** they haven't fixed.

I get frustrated with the Cat loyalists who continue to praise Cat for not changing anything.

They have a great sled there. I'm sure big things are in the works. But right now, The Cat can still hold its own.. So there is no need for frustration.. just have a little patience.

I remember not too long ago ski-doo covered the XP in new plastics and no one batted an eye lash.. they rode that pony from 2008 - 2016.. and even now for 2022 it still has the same weird rear suspension, and the same quirky handling attributes.

Polaris is pushing ahead in the industry... but they wait around for one of the others to do something.. then they react... (see what I did there?)

Anyways, like I said... have patience.

by the way, the new 146 Hardcore looks amazing. My buddy has one ordered. I'm cant wait to see it in person.

Well all cat really needed was taller spindles and raised rear bumber like the Rogue brand, and called it a black cat edition or something. thats it imo. yeah a screen on the intake but thats not a big deal. 7th year of same front suspension now and they decided to make a thinner clutch does lead a guy to believe they are planning to abort this chassis soon. That and you see the tweaks they made to the ctech over the years, I bet in fact they are getting it set for a turbo.
If the poo is still using the same arms from the axys i would probably have an aftermarket arm factored into that price. And where do mention the new cat style drivers? I must have my bliders on lol, do they come on the model an average guy would buy - the N/A 155 matryx?
Are guys bitching about doos rollout? less improved than cat from what i saw. narrower stance on the widest body? Solid sleds but again i wouldnt get the turbo riding 95% below 6k. id take the lighter N/A. And all i would ask for for christmas would be oil jugs and doo belts LOL.

What has frustrated me most is this. I’m not a new buyer. I usually buy a couple years behind. But I try and get as close to new as possible. 200-300 miles or so. So I have an 18 MC now that I really-really like(w/elevate) that I got last season. So after next season, I will be looking for another. That means what I would be looking at is probably a ‘20 or ‘21. Doubt I would make that change. I don’t really want the alpha rail. And yes, I could swap over the ice age stuff, but, I’m not really getting a new sled at that point. Just sorta freshened up.

All my friends ride new polaris. I also have a ‘12 pro for my wife.
I can ride it just the same and actually enjoy it. But, AC just has a little different feel that is a bit more fun for me and how I like to ride. Thats my frustration. What will probably happen is my wife will likely get a khaos over the summer and I will test it out real well next season.

Ehum. You do realize that you are in fact on the Arctic Cat forum right? All I'm saying is; If your so excited about the new highly refined Axys chassis then maybe praise about it somewhere where they'll actually agree with you for god's sake.

20% better acceleration from the new polaris engine tuning as reported by Erik ?....and this on a polaris spring demo sled ?....i have yet to ride a spring demo sled of any manufacture that didn't have that sled dialed to the nuts, but what i rode in the fall was always notably less capable....and although groups of riders do vary, i've towed out more polaris' than any other brand by a large percentage....i've owned and ridden all brands and am not particularly biased, but i've come to appreciate riding back to my truck under my own sleds' power, and with the front end intact, certainly not a common occurance with a polaris group, and i certainly hope the boost buyers get a discount on tow straps....not to mention the for $hit electrical systems that polaris has foisted on the myoptic poo riders for years.....by the way, did polaris buy a spark plug factory, or did they just figure that every snowmobiler carried six plugs to make it back to the truck.....yeah, yeah, yeah, I know poo buyers have read the poo marketing blitzes every spring until their eyes bleed, not to mention the polaris amnesia that seems to beset them at sno-check time.....but fools choices are what keep polaris in business...

This is basically what I am trying to get at. It wouldn't take much.

New rear bumper, flap, and tail light
New boards
Taller ride height
Scrap the intake, all new
Belt drive- two pulleys and belt (so simple)

Those changes alone I bet would double their sales. Talk about ROI on simple stuff that could be R&D'd in a week by a company with the resources that Textron has.

Ok so....these are notes from an outsider who bought snowmobiles this year with ZERO experience and driven by research not friends or people that actually know anything.
Polaris stuff used was allways Haggered and modified. I get it iam a gear head but as a consumer I was seeing broken stuff and potential failures. Also the marketing towards extreme riding made me think that they probably where better at that but ragged edge stuff is temperamental and for expert riders. So I was seeing punk kids and rippers and try hards and posers all on a modified Polaris. I know these things are un true but thats what I saw because it was a stereotype not because its true. Now I said and say, I can't ride like burandt so why do I need that $hit? Don't get me wrong, I actually really want a turbo charged khaos! But I want one like I want a Lamborghini or a ride in a f-16. Just cause t.v. tells me I do. But as an adult I realize I can't ride that so why. Now after a whole 1/4 season riding i think its crazy to have so many advancements that so few people can even use. Of course you that can ...should and I bet burandt can spank most of you on anything ever made lol. So then I said well it seems that cat has user friendly stuff a decent failure history and I won't lie the dealer was nice to me. I would've bought two brand new skidoos but a sales person literally ignored me on purpose and I said well $uck you then . I mean 30-40k in my pocket ready and excited. Anyway...now iam seeing how you tube and marketing is driving these things and I get it. Its not going to help with accidents I don't think. But I get it. I wish that I would have bought a brand new alpha and now iam hoping to find a 19-20 for next year. Iam a decade from a turbo khaos!! Sad truth is...Polaris wins the marketing game and will take over IF the others don't start trying the same ****e. I mean like it or not they have the best riders doing the coolest stuff and young buyers see that more than practical mechanics. I wanna be burandt! I wanna khaos! If I liked rosco dude maybe even a euro-red sled. I won't lie after I started really researching snowmobiles I was shocked guys would stand for all the failures. I mean buy a car and hope it makes 1500 miles? I bought a user friendly snowmobile on purpose. Yes thats gay but thats what I wanted. So...hopefully cat can at least start by getting some new mountain riders inputs and start improving them like you guys want. Hopefully they stay in buisness! I'll leave the Polaris to the kid with the lifted dodge lol. Unless...it will make me burandt!!!! Then I'll need a short tunnel turbo that's super twitchy and "flickable" . Hopefully someday I can actually appreciate that! For now getting "less" stuck is worth alot
