Based on the advice here we switched our reservations - driving extra to go to Ten Mile. Now we will be able to ride right out without trailering. Thanks for the advice!

Last I have heard is they will try and groom six nights a week. That is all pending weather and conditions.

yea the rendezvous gets it like once a week!!! some one on the Albany side is bribing the groomer! used to be fantastic trails everywhere now Albany gets all the $$$$$$$

Snow was decent on the N NW side, still little settled base. After sat warm temps, it should of setup and next storms should make it great. We poked around off trail sat, but very cautiously.

Long ride to good off-trail snow from Albany, go to greenrock or west side for closer access. Lots of guys tearing up along T trail, with lots of visible land mines.

We had a good time though.

Where and when were you there? It is a 9 hour drive to get to Albany, so how is the snow? Thanks Skidoo56 :clock:

those pics were taken today (rode 8 am to noon). It was up on trail N. Snow was good when you found untracked. Had to really search.

Shouldn't have to look very hard by midweek. Looks like 1 to 2 feet by Wednesday night.

The guy that owns the lodge out of Albany has the contract for grooming, this is what I told last winter. Not only that he/they quit early last year, only a few days early but I guess when it's slow in Albany it's time to hang it up.

Where the cats are based the trails in and out get groomed more often. At least one of the cats has been based out of Albany or the Rambler for as long as I can remember - regardless of whether Ray had the contract or not.

The snow sucked last year and they ended the grooming at the appropriate time IMO. They also started grooming at the appropriate time this year IMO.

Lost a Skinz cover Sunday night / Monday morning in the old corral parking lot. Just throwing out a long shot that maybe someone on here found it.

From what I have been told this is no longer the case.

State trails employee will be grooming out of green rock and same for Saratoga/ Encampment side.

Albany (Ray) will still be doing Albany and south.

That is what we are being told for this year. We will have to wait and see.

I have also been told that nelson hut is in and Quealy hut should go in ether today or tomorrow

Remember if the trails are good please let state trails know or if trails are bad please let state trails know. They like to hear ether way. That helps them to know if they are going in the right direction.

I noticed the groomer parked in green rock and they already keep it groomed a lot better than last year.

Last year the X and the M and MC were groomed Like ONCE??? the X was drifted over at the ledge making it all but impassable!!!!! had to go all the way around to get to the big meadows at the north end!

I am guessing we will really have to search to find fresh. Coming up Monday. I don't think there will be much more snow after this storm. I imagine those there now will tear it up and it will be a mob scene next week right?

We are staying on the West side. I am guessing if they do not groom every day the trails we be fairly bumpy?

Riding out of Ten Mile - do you carry gas? I have a three gallon. My friends do not have any. I would think it would be a good idea...

Kinda depends on where you're headed, but carrying extra gas is never a bad idea. You can ride up and play on the back, slide over to Widow, come around to Marie and make it back to Ten Mile. Conditions, of course, are going to dictate fuel use.

There used to be gas right across the street at The Place but is closed now so you have to go to the Rendezvous then out , only other gas is way down in Albany I trailer up to chains end so I have plenty of fuel for the day I have used my 3 gal on the bike and almost all the spare 3 and went back to the trailer to get fuel ,don't think I could have made it back to the Rendezvous'! when your at chains end go out the gate and make an immediate right and keep going ,,,good stuff back there! for Donkeys of course! Sleds have plenty of range from ten mile.
