2013/14 Snowy Range snow conditions

Is that one of the cabins at Albany Lodge? If so which one? We are heading out there in a few weeks.

Thanks.

No - we were working at my parent's cabin that is up the trail from Albany.

I'll bet the riding up on top of the mountain yesterday was pretty good based on what we saw yesterday. I wish we would have had more time to ride.

We went up the west side yesterday- dropped into french creek, south brush, and missouri lakes area.

The snow was really good 2'+ in most areas (based on my calibrated leg/crotch meter) with a great base underneath.

In the meadows there was a pretty hard ice layer under the new snow.

It snowed and blowed hard all day, visibility was -50' at times, and lighting conditions made it extremely hard to judge terrain.

Only pic from yesterday .. Camera died immediately after

Visibility was pretty sketchy, maybe 50 yards tops, it was snowing pretty hard on the backside. I only saw 3 other sleds up toward Queally, nobody else was venturing out very far.

We were up yesterday and the visibility was pretty bad even in the trees on the albany side.... it is going to be nice once you can see where you are going

MADRES??

Anyone been to the Madres yet? How is the snow over there? Have they been getting any of the snow them lucky bastards in steamboat area have been getting??

The ride out of green rock to sugarloaf was the worst I have ever ridden, Bumping carbides all the way, Mogels 18" to 24". After that it was awesome, Saratoga side was really deep. Got stuck in the trees twice after the dig out the hole was all of 5-6 feet deep and still no bottom. Rode out of Albany yesterday was rally good, found some awesome snow up on T, south of libby flats.

It is not uncommon this time of year for the ride from Greenrock and across Libby Flatts to suck. I know this was your first time to Snowies and glad you had a good time. Any day on the mountain is better than a day at work!:face-icon-small-hap

My son And some of his buddies are headed out from Iowa tomorrow morning just wondering where all the good snow is and where I should tell them to ride?

Just tell him to stay out of "7 fools" so he doesn't get stuck up top again. Ha!
I can't believe you aren't going along to "supervise."
