2012/13 Snowy Range snow conditions

Some of the best snow of the season. Yesterday was bumper deep everywhere. Last night was another foot of snow. We didn't cross libby flatts and just road the eastside. The best part was 2 other trailers in greenrock the first day and maybe 4 the second day. We were the only ones at the old corral. Also all trail markers have been pulled along with the warming huts. Gonna be a busy weekend up there.

How heavy is the powder? We rode up on Cameron Pass yesterday because the roads to Wyoming were closed from Fort Collins and while the snow was plenty deep, it was extremely heavy. Increased motor load may have contributed to a blown drive belt on a '13 Pro in our group (delaminated). It was fun, but you could get stuck going downhill as the front would push the snow and the track would dig in. Funky conditions.....

Any lighter snow up in the Snowies?

Well by looking at snotel the high on Cameron was about 40 yesterday and has cooled since. High of 30 in the snowies for the same time yesterday. So odds are better but Im sure its all pretty heavy. Could you see anything yesterday? Weather will warm in the next few days everywhere.

Snowys were unreal today, Guessing 36+ over most of the Mountain, as it was over our hood all day long.
Started at green rock this morning rode to Lake Marie and then enjoyed a little seven fools.
The snow was heavy and wet, the temps were in the low 20's and it snowed all day up there.

The parking lot is a huge problem, and I hope they get it fixed before the weekend. The plow stopped in the middle of the turn around. Left a 4' berm. Had to back out and try and swing the trailers. Not fun!!!

Note: If your going to ride be careful, No Trail Markers!!!

the parking lot is better but not great. the turn around is in good shape. Someone left a 16" 2x4 in the snow and the blower found it, so lost a ton of time trying to get it out of the auger. if the wind picks up the turn around will blow in and dont go past the turn around it is not plowed up to the lodge.

The pass is closed on I-80 til late tonight, does anyone have another way around it to Laramie from Cheyenne. Any help would be great asap as we are stuck here in Cheyenne.

It shows on WYDOT that happy jack road is closed also unless you can go down it when it's closed

if you can go north on 25 to wheatland canyon and hit that going west that will hook you into 287 i believe then south into Laramie as long as wheatland canyon in open. its a long way around but thats about it unless you wanna try going into Fort Collins and up 287 into Laramie

wyodot website shows only eastbound lanes closed as of 6 am today.... can anyone confirm this? im on the way west right now and trying to come up with a plan.....

Yes west bound is open ... For now traffic is so backed up eveytime they open the roads people haul *** and stack up- story of the last three days on i80
