2012/13 Snowy Range snow conditions

Rode again today snow above 9000 ft is actually pretty good for this time of year. Tracks we left yesterday were covered up from last nights snow only 2 to 3 inches. Wish I could stay till Thursday I think this storm is going to pan out and give some good snow for next week.

Thanks agian Newmy! There are a few of us that have been watching and waiting for a good spring storm and this looks to be it! We will be there Wed morning unloading at green rock, if your in the area swing by the red super duty with a white inline enclosed. I'm giving Chris@Michelle a call in the morning about lodging!

Enjoy it but, watch out for open creeks and freshly covered land mines.

Never been to snowies where does a guy stay? Are there any nice lodges with bar and gas up top you can ride from? Even a guide would be nice for the first trip.

On the West Side of the Range, near Saratoga
Ten Mile Inn -cabins with cook your own kitchen, bar, gas next door
The Place -gas and cabins on the Saratoga side
Med Bow Lodge - gas, cabins, meals packages
Rendezvous - gas, cabins, bar, restaurant

On the east side, near Centennial and Albany
Albany Lodge - gas, bar, lodges and restaurant
Snowy Mountain Lodge - cabins and a cook your own kitchens

Most of these lodges are set around 8,000 ft in elevation, allowing you to ride from you door December-April on most years. I have only stayed at Ten Mile and Med Bow Lodge. Ten Mile has newer cabins built within the last 5 years, plus additional lodge style rooms added last year. Med Bow Lodge has older/historic cabins. Both have old historic main lodges to hang out in.
