2011/12 Snowy Range snow conditions

That picture isn't Silver lake...that is Libby Flats, you can see the observation point in the center back of the picture. That is what that area looks like 75% of the time unless we get a good snow storm with no wind. The first 4 of those pictures were around libby flats which during a heavy wind year is the worst place to try to ride regardless of how much snow we get.

Sorry I posted the wrong picture, I'll find the pics of Silver lake when I get home. Reguardless the snow sucks right now. I've been riding the snowies since 1995 and this is the worst season I can remember.

IMO you seem to have an agenda.

Tog9, perhaps but it will not matter to you as you will be in bed by 8:00 PM.

Ritfire. No thanks, I'm already sponsored.

That's because I don't want to listen to you tell me the samething 9 times in a hour :face-icon-small-hap

Ritfire, we know what you really want to do to Newmy :llama:

Storm

How did the Snowys fair in this storm? Centennial was supposed to get 10-12", more higher up.

They need Feet of snow, not inches. Hopefully this is a good start to get the Range up and running again!

Snowtels are all wack, some showing slight gain, others showing loss.

Any real reports?

I will be riding out of Albany tomorrow through Sunday if they have internet I will post what I can!

It was raining in Centennial at 5:30 this morning. The owner at the ski area told me they got about an inch overnight, but the wind was having its way with it. This is what I saw from my desk this morning. We still have a chance of snow through the weekend. Keep your fingers crossed!

Not looking good - they cancelled the Winter Storm Warning.

AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE CHEYENNE WY
1145 AM MST THU JAN 19 2012

.UPDATE...WINDS ARE STILL STRONG ACROSS PORTIONS OF CARBON COUNTY
AND CENTRAL LARAMIE COUNTY LATE THIS MORNING WITH A GUST OF 64 AND
70 MPH REPORTED AT CHEYENNE AIRPORT IN THE LAST 20 MINUTES.
THEREFORE...DECIDED TO EXTEND THE HIGH WIND WARNING THROUGH THIS
AFTERNOON IN THESE AREAS WITH RAWLINS STILL AROUND 55 MPH FOR WIND
GUSTS AS WELL. EXTENDED THE WARNING UNTIL 5 PM THIS AFTERNOON AND
WILL REEVALUATE WITH THE AFTERNOON FORECAST PACKAGE.
OTHERWISE...THE ONLY OTHER CONCERN IS THE LACK OF SNOWFALL ACROSS
THE MOUNTAINS. CURRENT SNOTEL OBS ACROSS THE SNOWY RANGE AND
SIERRA MADRE RANGE SHOW HARDLY ANY SNOW ACCUMULATION FROM LAST
NIGHT WITH MODELS HIGHLY OVERESTIMATING PRECIP AMOUNTS. MAY NEED
TO CANCEL THE WARNING THIS AFTERNOON DUE TO THE LACK OF SNOW
ACCUMULATION WITH NOT MUCH MORE EXPECTED TONIGHT.

Looks like we'll be waiving at the range as we drive by it on the way to tog on 1/27 then.:face-icon-small-fro

Jake(Ritfire) and I went out today................would love to report hood deep, over the bars snow...........but I'd be lying. We went north of Rock Creek, west thru Johnson Park up to Sand Lake and back down past Bow River, then thru the gap. Mostly what we found was 1/4 to 1/2" of ICE on a couple of inches of new snow. When our skiis would cut through the crust the front would dive and try and throw you over the bars; fun city! Oh well, sounds like possibly another coming in on Saturday.......keep your fingers crossed.
