2010/11 Snow conditions Snowy Range

I think it is still too early if you're in the mood to boondock and ride off trail! Last riding season (February 2010) we hit the 110-120" mark. So far this year we're @ 51" right now @ North French Creek(snotel source). The snow has settled around 15-20" so far @ this location but setting up a great base for the riding season. If you don't mind carnage, go for it. I would wait a couple more weeks for better riding, just my 02!

Went up today, snow wasn't too bad but landmines everywhere. (anyone have some 09 Assault A-arms and shock?)

Rode with TurboT and a few other guys on 11/26. Snow was better then I thought but not quit there yet needs a few more good dumps.
Found a few good spots though:

could not believe

Rode out of Green Rock today. Could not believe all the trucks and trailers there by 9 AM today. Looked like mid February Parking. Lot of people with the urge to get the season started. We had a good day, found lots of good snow.
just have to be cautious. New snow is needed, getting a good base started.

The snow is in great shape for this time of the year, but still early! Mean Yamaha along with several other friends and I saw several spots that have claimed sled parts this year. Big landmines, bad carnage. We rode off trail for about 5 of the 65 miles we put on but when it came down to climbing a few hills it was more or less climbing up slow the first shot then hitting it again after getting better looks. Been snowing the whole day more or less up top today. Snowing in Laramie as we speak:clock:

I agree with TurboT - we rode today stuck to the forest service roads mainly and had a blast. My brother-in-law and I took my parents sleds up there and left them for the winter. We had to go up further than last weekend to find the untouched roads, but still found fresh snow after the holiday weekend. Saw three moose and it was snowing off and on all day - great ride.

Apologies for the crappy pics - all I had with me today was my cell phone - I guess that's what it takes to bring out the bulls.....

Sierra Madres.

We headed to the Madres today. They were socked in when we got to Saratoga this morning. The Range was sunny on the west side.
Snow conditions for the Madres were amazing. We couldn't go over the top because it was simply snowing to hard! We found fresh snow from anywhere from 6" to 2' depending what side of the slope you were on.
The top was still scary from all of the wind, a lot of bare areas and tons of rocks. The trees were awesome! we are planning to go back down on Tuesday.
I see that snotel shows 9" of new today and the snow is not suppose to stop until Tuesday am!! The snow conditions for being November are great.
When we left the parking lot we could see that the Range was socked in..

I forgot about these pics until I looked at my phone this morning.

This is the north side of the cabin which is west of Rob Roy. We were up there on Halloween and shoveled the deck off - so this is about 1 months worth of snow. The bottom 12-14 inches was set up hard and the snow was softer up top with the recent storms. If I had to guess I would say ~4 feet of actual snowfall settled down to 30-36 inches on the deck. There isn't that much on the ground since the ground was probably warm earlier in November and melted some of the snow. I just thought I would post these too to give an idea of how much snow we have gotten at the cabin.
