2010/11 Big Horns North/South snow conditions

LOL, Oh I held my own, I was leading the way. That etec pulls mighty good.Very nice running sled. Wish you could have been there, we did find some fun riding, was a little cold and I was battling the bug but was good all the same.
You take care Dave and remember to look me up next time you guys head up riding.

Wondering if there is any organization that does avy forcasts for the bighorns? We are headed out today and wondering how the snow is setup and all.

I cant find anything also, the only organization that i know of that does Wyoming avy reports is this group http://www.jhavalanche.org/index.php, but they do not give a report for the bighorns, or even the snowies, not sure why that is. If you find one, post it on here!

Any updates on the snow in the horns? Thinking of riding March 21 thru 25,
either heading here, the Snowies, or Rabbit Ears. Thanks.

I would go to rabbit ears or the snowies cuz they have way better snow and will probably get a good spring dump here soon, so that would be your best bet!

We rode Saturday with WYsteph and her husband, nice people and good riders so it was fun even though the snow was not very good, hard to find powder. Had a good day except the part when I was climbing a pretty steep hill, snow was hard and icy and I was forced to sidehill a clump of trees. Lost traction and sled went, boot was caught in the footwell and twisted me up pretty good before it popped out...on crutches today and not sure if it's broken or just badly sprained. Sled wasn't too lucky either, rolled down hill into the trees, hood, running boards, windshield, seat and some other damage. Need snow.

Looks like Wysteph and Rydpwdr found some decent snow, just need some more in them hard areas. If we can get a good spring dump it would make for an awesome time, nice pics tho. Get healed up rydpwdr, and maybe i will see you ripping on the mountain

Cool pics I just bought my first sled and I live at Burgess Jct so hoping to get alot of riding in.... I just need more people to ride with so if anyone wants a tag along hit me up :)

Going to ride above sheridan tomorrow, maybe out of bear but not sure, curious to see if there is any powder to be found so will prolly ride south. Then i might be going above buffalo on sunday and might go back behind deer haven and curious to see how that is as well. Will update tomorrow about the north end, ill take pics if i can force myself to let off the throttle :loco:

Rode South of Bear Lodge this past Sat. and was surprised at how good the snow was, rode on 6" of untracked clearings to 3-4' in the trees about 75% of the day. Even found a few cornices worth beating up. Brought up one who hadn't rode before so hopefully I got him going on this insanely cheap hobby:face-icon-small-coo.

About the same here, i rode south/southwest of bear on friday and found some hill with 6-10" of new snow on it. Was a pretty good day all around.

Then rode the south end on sunday and it was about as bad as it could get, everywhere we rode was hard as a rock. Didnt sink through the whole day, about a 2 inch crust on top that is hard. Rode with philsummers21 and had a good time till he broke down.

Wont be good on the south end till they get a foot of fresh as far as me and everyone ive talked to knows. The north end could sure use some more too, to make it good. It suppose to snow some this weekend, hopefully it will be about a foot and make a fun weekend! Have fun all, maybe ill see you on the hill, if so stop and say hello!

thinking about riding tomorrow .will the roads be bad getting there ?

Not sure where you are coming from, but it didnt snow anything here in sheridan and the roads are dry here, so im guessing that there will prolly be some slick roads going up the mountain but other than that you should be good. Suppose to snow tomorrow to tho so it might depend on that.
