2009/2010 Alpine, WY Snow Report/Rockin' M Ranch

About three more inches at the cabins since Monday. Sun is shining now. Probably the best conditions yet this winter. Avalanche danger lowered to considerable.

Suposed to stay nice till sunday. Should be some awesome ridding up squaw and up north murphy creek in the bowls saturday for sure!!

Since Sunday Alpine picked up 8-10 inches. Box Y lodge 16", Jackson Hole resort 18", Targhee 14". I was at the Box Y today, new snow to the knees at low elevations along the river. Guest of cabins reported snow over hood at top of sheep creek past lodge and were not able to continue due to much snow. All elevations now have great coverage. Powder easily found. Drove to Togwotee yesterday. Still sage brush showing at low elevations there. Please don't confuse us with other negative reports in the area. The snow and coverage is good. I'm quite confident that we have currently have some of the best snow in the region.

Another 3 inches of wet snow last night. About 5" total in the Valley in the last few days. 6" plus at the Caribou Warming hut yesterday before last nights snow.

Was up there Thursday and Friday had an awesome couple of days!

More snow!

I measured 6" of light fluffy powder on our rental sleds here at the cabins this morning. About an inch yeasterday and another 5" overnight.

We received about 4" here at the cabins since yesterday. I rode Squaw and also Elk Mountain yesterday. The snow is fairly hard in the open areas, but softer in the trees and North slopes. The best snow was on the back of Elk Mountain. This bit of snow should freshen things up. We are not having the biggest winter, but we are hearing daily from our many of our guests that our snow is the best in the region compared to other popular spots.

Another 2" here at the cabins yesterday. Guest of the cabins reported great riding at Blindbull with about 1 foot of new snow.

Headed out this Thursday through Wednesday... Hows the current conditions? Any storms expected?

Saturday was a rain snow mix in the Valley with the snowline 200-300 feet above the valley floor. Yesterday morning it appeared to be snowing up high and cleared out to be partly sunny in the afternooon. The afternoon high temps got to 32-34 yesterday and closer to 40 on Saturday. It is currently 19 degrees here at the cabins this morning. Looking around the valley. None of the hillsides are bearing off yet. We have about an 18" to 2' base here around the cabins. The blindbull snowtel site is showing a base of 49" with about 3" of new since 3/3. The snow is going to be "springlike" down low. If I were riding tomorrow I would be heading to elevations over 8000 feet like blindbull, bowls of squaw, and Bedford "Strawberry and Willow Creek". Snow is in the forecast for later today and tomorrow. This is supposed to be a cooler storm.
