2009/10 Big Horns North/South snow conditions

Its still there and open. Its not the passage anymore, not sure what its called. But the same people own all three lodges up there now (arrowhead, Bearlodge, and passage)

This picture was from 2007, it hadn't slid when I was there. There were a lot of tracks up and over it in 07, but the last two years I've been there it was too much of an avalanche danger to try it.

Wow. I've never seen a track to make it over the top yet in all the times ive went to it. Course i only go that way when we have ALOT of fresh snow. Otherwise there is better riding elsewhere.

We are headed up tomorrow night and are riding Thursday and Friday, let it snow baby! :face-icon-small-hap

Questions

Bear or the old passage? I used to always stay at the passage because it was cheap but I assume the price had to go up when the new owners took over I have never stayed at bear but i awlays party there. Is the bar still better at bear and where is everyone liking to stay? Thanks

We'll try to leave you a bit, dmaxd2500. :face-icon-small-win

Prices at all 3 lodges are the same. Other then that not much has changed. Elk view in is a nice place with a new hotel, good food and nice people. Bear lodge is the same. The night life is way better at Bear too. I imagine that the prices will go way up next year as Rick runs all lodges in Burgess Junction and now has no competition.

Oh yeah, I will post some pics thursday night when we get back to Bear lodge from our ride.

Is there enough snow around Burgess Junction that I could putt around on the trails with the wife?

i would definetly say so, they gotten a pretty fair amount of snow in the last week. havent been there just going off what everyone else is saying.

It's now called the Elks View and owned by the Bear Lodge. Cabins are now reserved for employees and all guests stay in the hotel behind the main Lodge.

Well we found some great snow today. A few places there was no base but still great snow. Got off the trail around High Country and never looked back untill we hit Dayton gulch. Untracked snow the hole way. Seemed to be alot of people but most where playing next to the trails. Could not get the turbo to run but thats OK.

Hope that storm hits this weekend and it will be that much better. I think most people found good snow but if you knew where to go you could find open meadows all day long.

The lack of base is a pain, 3 of us scouting aroun granite pass (i think thats it)found some great stuff off the beaten path, but 2 out of three including myself found rocks a foot under the powder. The doos trailing arm was twisted like a pretzel and my cat tweaked the left a-arms. Never saw a thing until i hit the windshield. Didnt buy a new sled this year so i will do my part buying new parts!!!
