08/09 800 recall...

M7, get the h away from that dealer, drive to a new one, the next dealer will be happy to take you as he'll get a few more bucks for doing one he didn't sell. Be conciderate call the new guy tell him your upset (not pissed) and ask if he'll order you a kit if he won't try another one if he won't take the time to reflect on your attitude even thou it's justified.We've accepted a few like you with open arms hoping that as time goes on we'll remove you of your spendable income ( just a joke,kinda).
The can is not a blow up situation it's a performance item for sled's that ride at low altitude cause believe it or not Poo in all it's infinate wisdom sort of expected the RMK's to be riden up high, go figure.
I don't care how few miles you have on your 800 read between the lines and replace the fuel filter it will save you in the long run. And lets start having fun out there! PM me and I can suggest good dealers in your area.

recall

the people that purchased 800 should have read the posts from the 900 owners and they would have known that polaris customer service is VERY BAD and there R&D is none existent.

bigdawg,from what i have seen and rode the arctic cat seems to have had good sleds at least since the M7 and M8 not perfect but very reliable.

great advise..I would add when you talk to the dealer..tell him your whole story..be nice...I am sure most dealers will jump at the opurtunity to take care of you and hopefully earn a new customer....I too agree..change your filter regardless of milage..as for backorders..I think they will be minor compared to last year...polaris had lots of lead time for vendors and they know exactly how many machines are out there...as for the can at low elevation..polaris recomends you change it...its not required..I know most run aftermarket anyways (since both polaris and slp have done heavy testing to insure the slp can will run on them I am sure others will too)most likely guys..everyones sleds will rip this season and do it reliably.....

M7, I agree, I got a letter today from a dealer that wants to fix my sled now that my dealer is out of business. They are about 3 hours from me!

I agree with you guys....

Change the filter and get the can:beer;

BUT, at this point it is principle based action on my part. Since Jan. 08 I have not had a correctly running D8. The chassis has been its saving grace for me, I love it!!!

The motor has left me in some HUGE holes or situations I had very narrow windows to get out of, because the motor would fall on its face when I would NEED it to run WFO. I have spent more time digging this thing out of monster holes in Bottomless powder because of this "bog" issue.

I have waited to upgrade parts until these issues are fixed after my dealer warned I should wait for approved updates, so my machine has remained stock.

While above 4k' this machine has run flawless and has impressed me.

So, for Polaris to dictate the mods I have to pay for, I refuse. I want this thing to run correctly before i spend any extra dough on it!!!

If Polaris can not provide cans to the FIRST guys to buy the 800CFI (08 D8 163, snowchecks) THEN F THEM.

I understand that there is no sense throwing gas on a fire and I understand the terrible problems that some poor guys had with this engine alot of witch was not helped by ah dealers that have little service after the sale, also I understand that in some areas driving to the next dealer is a haul but researching a dealer in any brand is very important in todays world , the manufacture is under extreme pressure to get the newest and best product to the market in record times thus the problems will occur. I want a dealer that rides, I mean all the time, also I want one that when I see him for atv parts all he wants to talk about is the new sleds and the new stuff to put on em. IE Jack Struthers, Max at Tri City and countless others ;look and find em. Then pay their price and you will reap the benfits for a long time.Now for the gas , shut up about the can if you bought an RMK (Rocky Mountain King) and have to purchase a can to make it perform at low altitude (switchback country) then either buy it or don't it will still run. And please don't go buy a Rush and complain that Poo screwed up cause it won't climb Mt. ST Helan's in fresh deep powder worth a damb cause this is how some of you sound. I apologize if this is not how you ment it. Lets letr snow and letrbuck.

Thanks for the responses. I, to this day still think the assult is one of the best back country sleds ever made for me a big chubby guy. You can launch this thing farther than anything I have ever had and when you think the landing is going to hurt it lands like a pillow. I love the stand up riding style, you are in a stance just like a linebacker. This was one of the first years I did not hurt my back trying to keep up with the racer boys. The cats you tend to land on your heals and the shock of that ends up to the top of your head and kills your lower back. I like my dealer and the mechanics are young, work way too hard and are good people. Its not their fault. I do not know where these rumors start from but when I snow checked this machine the mecanic at the shop said he talked with the Polaris rep & the 800 motor was all taken care of, so I snow check it. That was all bull, it was exactly the same. That bull info, in my oppinion came directly from the Polaris reps. In my world that is a lie. Just like Madoff, they lied to the dealers to sell more sleds. Now they are putting the blame on the dealers, shoving sleds down their throat, making them fix all the crap and PISSED OFF alot of riders in my area. I had 2 Chrysler vehicles in the past and in my oppinion Polaris is headed for the exact same scenario. Hey Polaris Obama and the Democrats will NOT be offering you and your delears a bail out. Yes they are fixing the motor I hope, but you can only piss of so many people before the $hit hits the fan. As of right now I want to replace 2 machines. What do you do?where do you go? Why do I have to eat it on the Assult? Are they going to be in business tomarrow? Is the machine going to be down for 40% of the riding season? Do you have to go in a flip out to get any thing done? I am betting you will be able to ride in CO in a month, I hope it is done by then.
Have a great season everyone.

My dealer is said to have five kits in stock. Once hunter season is over and the quad rush slows down they will start taking sleds in.

If your in or near southern UT try Loose Wheels in Duck Crek Village UT, Th

I have never had any issues with my dealer, Loose Wheels in Duck Creek Village UT, Tellem warren sent you .

Recal is done!

I just thought I would pass it on about the great service I received from our local dealer, Sea to Ski in Langley, B.C. I received my recall letter on Wednesday. The dealer phoned me on Friday afternoon to bring our sleds in this morning and they had two of our sleds ready to go at the end of the day. As well swapped over a set of new quad tires for us right at the end of the day when they were trying to get cleaned up and get out of there. It is nice to see that kind of service with out any problems. Time will tell how it is going to last and perform.:):beer;

the word I got from 2 very good sources is the fix rocks...one said they beat it on the dyno hard(right at the old lean spot) as well as on the top end..I was told to expect it to run very good...........

I want to here from some freinds that the Mad Dragon has changed to the Glad Dragon

Been on holidays for the last week and just read my recall update letter.So without going thru all the old posts do you need the SLP can if you ride4-7K elevation.I have an HPS can on there right now.What does needing the SLP can do for low elevations?

Many cans are created based on the stock flow rates. Check with your respective aftermarket company and ask them how their flow rate compares to the stock can? Most cans do more for weight reduction and tone than anything else. Pipes are a whole different story!

Again...contact the manufacture and ask them.

Went in and got a work order started for the updates, dealer says the parts are in but they are waiting for some tooling from Polaris to bore the cylinders so the swap can't be done yet. Has anyone else heard this one???
