I also loved my 2003 VE, still have it but haven't started it for 2 years. My all time fave was my 1979 Ski Doo 7500 plus. I was redoing my work bench turning cabinets into drawers and found this Ski Doo coat in a box. It still fit.
72 Yamaha GP292. Nothing like going to the cabin and breaking trail after some light mods. Sad thing, it went to the dump when I closed my shop in Alaska.
2011 Pro RMK. Not the "best" sled, but it was the first new sled I ever bought, and was the latest/greatest at the time. Pre-wife and pre-kids, so I was riding a LOT at the time, and my riding was pretty dialed in. Could handle some sidehills/maneuvers that were not-very-common at the time, so that was always fun. Had a blast on that thing and rode it multiple times per week for a few winters.....was the peak of my sledding career thus far lol
1975 sno jet 440 F/a. Power to weight was awesome in the day. Tapered Aluminium, light weight, great power from the f/a Yamaha motor. Still interested in one for full resto, but would also be tempted to put a little longer track with some 1 inch or so paddles.
I can't pick... But ....
89 Indy 500 was fun when I was a kid.
99 XC500 was a fun trail/ ditch banger
05 F7 was very fun on the trails!
15 SBA 144 800 was and still is a great all around sled. It can do everything. Just not great at any one thing.
16 AXYS pro converted to AXYS 163 turbo... Probably the most fun, due to the power, and the raptor kinetic shocks!
Not close for me. 2004 Ski Doo 500ss -- REV Chassis.
I had ridden an 82 SRV, 84 VMAX, 87 Exciter II, 93 Wildcat 700 (which was hella fast and that was about all I'd say about it).... The step up to the REV was mind blowing. I remember that first ride -- we rode about 5 miles to a gas station. I couldn't believe the smooth power and the way it sucked up the bumps. Put over 10K miles on it, only had to replace the top end once. Those were the days I rode basically every weekend, snow or not..
2000 Ski Doo ZX Highmark 700, it was my first new sled that I snow checked. Totally loved that sled! Sold it was 4100 miles on it and all I did was add gas and oil.
‘06 900 RMK. It was a heavy, belt eating pos to start, but after a 65 lb diet, clutch work and engine performance mods, it was a very fun, hard pulling sled.
'94 ZR 580 From the moment I laid eyes on the mid-year release of the '93 ZR 580 my mind was made up. I was ordering one. My first snow check sled. I believe Cat called it Spring Break back then?
Handled like it was on rails. Very easy to correct attitude while in the air. Simply inspired confidence.
Very unforgiving carburation. Very common to stop mid day and change jest because of a 10 degree temp swing, but got very good at doing that quickly.
I have been riding for 8 years and my first sled was a modified ski doo 2005 I think and have so many memories and learning etc. But my 22 Freeride is by far my favorite, I'm 245 pounds and the factory turbo made me a much better rider. I am not a very good rider but as you can see in the video below I have fun.
Early 70's Skiroule by Coleman. Practically born on them. Loved to hate them, hated to love them. We worked on them all week to get them ready to ride for the weekend before breaking them again. But taught me a lot about riding, the love for snowmobiling and appreciation of todays tech and clothing. Also learned not to imitate my dad in that photo by trying to run down the neighbors mean ass cat. I think by what my dad first said along with a string of profanity was that I should still be grounded to this day.
I've had many from 70s,80s,90s,00 scorpions, yams, cats to now my 20 alphas.my all time fav was my 09 m8 162 with a 900BB,race gas turbo.lots of VE stuff and carbon fiber everything but the belly pans.it was the best machine for everything!
Sentimental...a 72 AC 390 Panther of my grandpas...was just a kid and would go up and ride Monte Cristo...would be so excited I could barely sleep. Modern sled? Don't ride as much anymore but have my 09m8PG turbo w 153. Always runs great, super reliable, pulls hard all day and is just a blast to ride.
Speaking of Monte Christi, a hill called little monte was commonly called Skiroule hill cause those were the best sleds to climb that hill with my 76snojet sst FA in second place.
