"My buddies M7 is on it's top idleing away, we roll it over and off he goes!"

I think the self leveling is the sway bar myself

I haven't ridden an XP but I have ridden the Dragon and I really feel like it wants to pop me back up all the time. Don't like it at all.

I almost bought a Dragon and if I had, the first thing I would of done would be to rip that sway bar off. I would probably do the same with an XP.

I agree glen. Hands down one of the greatest performance mods you can do on the xp is simply remove the sway bar.

Or you just pin the throttle with your left hand, yard the rope 3-5 times with your right and off you go....it's never been THAT big of an issue with my 800R that I would consider it a point of comparison with other sleds. I guess if you don't know how to start a flooded carb'd engine and have girly arms it could be a problem....not sure

Just wondering?

just wondering if some of you guys that have rode both doo and cat if you have ever noticed a vibration in the doos i have an 07 summit with the first year of the r motor a friend of mine has a m1000 and hes going to trade it for a new m8 he claims his sled is to heavy
any thoughts on the vibration just wondering thanks

Xp's are hard to sidehill on hard pack:confused: guess I never noticed that before. I'll make sure to pay more atention next time out:D. Ride with a M8 very time I go out him and I agree I hate his M he hates my XP and every time we get back to the truck he say "I wish I could learn to ride that XP". All and all they are close on a hill I'll get him by a bit most of the time but than again I'm 60 or so lb's heavyer. They are both great machines compared to five or six years ago.

I wouldnt mind tagging along on that trip.

will be riding with an xp or 2 today in southern oregon, will be a tree ride all day in hopefully at least a foot of fresh, will let ya know how that works out:)

mtnpull, apparently you are one extremely skilled rider;)

Did you guys look at the cover of the new snowest? Why is the guy riding the XP hanging off the side while the machine is level and on sidehill. You can put an M on that same sidehill, while staying centered on the machine and holding on with 1 hand. Seems like wasted effort to me!

The xp is the heaviest handling sled out there for how light they are but I would have to be along to watch a 09 cat out mark an xp on the hill. I don't believe that the cat has more traction with the PC . The cats are down on power. It could happen but not even close on the ones i've seen. The cat doesn't have the bottom end snort that the xp's have. That is what works in the mountains.A ski-doo will turn circles around the cat but the cats are way easier to sidehill. I am one of the few that leaves the sway bar in my rev. That is my preference. They get ill handling on the trail. That is why the m's aren't as good on the trail. I have an 06 with a mountain addiction rear skid and it tips up easier than anything out there with the sway bar attatched. If you don't believe me you are more than welcome to ride it. If I were buying a sled today I would take the cat. I really don't like the xp's.

I need more friends so I can get some time on a M8. I got to get an a M8 for just a short time this year and what little time I had I thought it did well over all but needed a taller seat and taller bars.

In Feb I bought my first ever Ski-Doo, it is the Hill Climb Edition so it has the wider front end. I had about 250 miles on it and then disconnected the sway bar. I was immediately comfortable with it on side hills. That bar is just way to stiff for my style of ridding.

I first rode an 08 XP last year and didn't care for it but ended up buying one this year because my dealer apends a lot of money with me:D. After about one ride started really likeing it and haven't been on my 06 rev or 04 king cat sence. Just love the rev xp now by far the best boondocking and climbing sled i've owned.

I got to spend several days this year on both an '09 154" Summit and an '08 153" M8. If I had to stay completely stock and could not change a thing it would be a tough call, being able to change things however I bought the M. The XP rode better on the trail for the 25-30 miles or so I put on the trail with each (rear suspension felt REALLY hard on the M). M steered better and with less effort. Throttle pull on the M was much less. I know this will upset some, but the M felt like a lighter machine to me. The M was just plain easier to manuever for me (in trees, sidehill, trail, everywhere). I liked the higher seated position on the XP and the new seat (or boss) would likely solve the issue with the M. Either one I wanted the bars up a little bit. In the end I bought the M and have the telescoping bars ready to install and will be getting the new seat whenever they are out for purchase.

I would have been happy with either and could probably get either one to the same places but all and all the M just felt better and was easier to maneuver. Also I got the M for $1500 less than I could get the XP so that totally sealed the deal. As unbiased an opinion as I can offer.

LOL, obviously you don't ride much.

Maybe he does, rode two years now with xp's ,seen maybe 100 xp's .

Now out of 100 you would think atleast one would be set up right.

Not impressed . They need the bb kit to be competitive .
