Wrench and ECU 17 and 1

Now I finally took the sled to the dealer. Let's see if it will solve the problem.

Got the sled back. I haven't seen the ecu 1 and 17 since they replaced the cable harness. Have to see if the problem is solved when the snow comes. Let it snow!

Mine is at the dealer as we speak. It`s in for the ECU 17.
They said it was a broken exhaust temp sensor. Hope that is the case and wont have the problem many people are seeing :)

At least you guys have codes. The end of last season i had major stalling and bogging problems, intermittent. Guess what, 2 dealers, neither interested in fixing it. The one charged me basically 550 $ to change the plugs. They say it runs fine in the shop. They cant test drive it so.... Not sure what im going to do now, its getting close to snow time. Going to have to go over the harness my self. So much for warranty, still have 1 year left.

I had same on my 11
dealer replaced egt probe lasted till unloaded from trailer.
it was a bad plug on harness side of egt .
I hard wired and soldered and shrink wrapped never a issue again

I'm having ECU 17 issues after I took the pipe off, I forgot to put the sensor back in the exhaust and ran it for about 2 miles and it ran like crap.... Then I realized I forgot to put the sensor back in. I put it back in and tightened it down, ran way better but 17 flashed all day. I double checked all connections, seem fine, no wear in any harnesses or the sensor, even put the stock can back on. Still has a solid ECU 17 code.

Before I buy a $100 sensor and try it out, is there any way to test to see if the sensor is still working? It seems like its stuck in the cluster as as soon as I start it up its already got the wrench showing on the dash. Of course the sled is out of warranty as of last month :(

You can get exhaust sensor from GM for $50 part # 12643246

If you have a multimeter you can measure it for ohm. Should be 300- 600 ohms depending on temperature. Dont remember exaktly. But if you read infinete or 0 the sensor is bad.

Hey, I joined this forum because I seem to have a similar problem. I have a Bikeman can on my 13 xf800 and have ecu 01,03,17 codes. The dealership says they only currently see 01 but I seen the others flashing. The codes came up shortly after I blew a belt. I could feel it cut power slightly when I get on the throttle from a stop. Kind of like a bog. The dealership has had the sled for a couple days and they are saying that it bogs then blows out black smoke, It never had any black smoke before. The dealership is blaming it on the Bikeman can.

So I called the dealership that put the can on. They are saying it is a scape goat for the other dealership by blaming it on the can. So now I am not to sure, one dealership says it is the can (local dealership) and the one I bought the sled from says it isn't (5 hour drive away). I do still have the factory suitcase so I will probably swap it out anyways.

So just looking to see if you guys had your problems solved or not. And what was the solution.

1 and 17 code you normally get when you have a faulty exhaust temp sensor.
Check if yours is loose and rattle in your pipe :) Have your dealer checking that part too :)

Thanks. So picked up the sled from the dealer and decided to put the suitcase on. Low and behold I found a wire that had rubbed through and was contacting the frame. Wrapped it up and no codes.

Thanks for the help

ECU code 17 : hopefully helpful
GM part number for duramax exhaust sensor is a direct replacement for my 16 SP M8000. I accidentally overheated the motor and so the code flashed and I believe it failed due to excessive heat. Other people maybe unknowingly running their machines hot leading to similar failures.
Even though the thread is old, I wanted to follow up for others seeking possible solutions as this helped me.
Conditions: iced/hard pack covered with 4 inches of lake effect fluff- still not enough snow? I didn't have scratchers down, condition went away with powder and then ecu code came on.
Riding: continued the next day with code staying on, slightly affecting running motor: pulled timing? Rich running on the top end? Though totally ridable!
Part: various GM numbers work starting with 126...... cross referencing with duramax EGT sensor. Ordered from o'reilly for $65 (cheaper elsewhere but in a pinch)
Work: pull panels and hood, connector and bolt on pipe. Hardest thing was gettting at wire ties holding wire to frame. I didn't pull the pipe, however it may have saved time with fishing the connect and snipping the zip tie. Easy.
Fixed: code went away instantly and ran marginally better? I was doing zero trail or high speed running so it was hard to say how much better it ran. Probably more piece of mind than actual fix cuz it really didn't slow our trip down.

Hopefully someone will benefit from this-
