Wrench and ECU 17 and 1

2 M800 PC 2012 have the same error codes. 750 and 1300 miles. as soon as the sleds starts the wrench symbol and ecu 17 start flashing. after a while ecu 1 also starts flashing. then it goes away for a while and then back again.
ecu 17 = failed exhaust temp sensor.
ecu 1 = not available on the 800.
the dealer have changed ecu, voltage regulator and the exhause temp sensor on both sleds but still gets the error codes. the have also check the cables and the ground and nothing is wrong they say.

have anyone heard of this before?
does anyone have an idea of what it can be?

Sounds like a similar problem to what I had on my 08 m1000. I wouldnt know where to tell you to look, but on mine I had got the ecu reflashed and while it was gone I found a bare spot rubbed in the wire by the reverse servo. I have a few hundred miles on since the fix and everything has been working great. Look for shorts in the wiring would be my advice.

It is a failure somewhere in the exhaust temp sensor. Either in the wiring harness or in the sensor.

Do you have an after market can? Mine is a 11' but I have same issues when I took it to dealer to have the reflash done, I told them about that issue and he asked if i ran after market can, I do, he said they can sometimes cause the codes to flash do to a vibration, mine lasted about a day after reflash and started again off and on, still ripes so I'll deal with the codes. It has not effected the way it runs what so ever

both have had bikeman high flow manifold, pipe and pcv. they are both stock now. dealer can't find anything wrong and they have changed ecu, voltage regulator and exhaust temp sensor. still the same error codes. they also checked the cables.

I had the same error on my 2012 HC 800, it is your pipe sensor. In that it is reading the wrong OMS. Dealer replaced it under warranty and all is good.

Did you manage to fix this issue? I have the same problem with my 13' XF HC. Changed the sensor and tested the wires going to the ECU and they looked good. But the problem just keeps coming back. It seems like the error disappears when the sled has been idling for half a minute.

ECU 17 here too on my 2013 M800 LTD. First the ECU 17 came up and flashing all day long riding. Called my dealer and they said I could ride it unless there was no bogging and drop in RPM`s.
I haven`t felt anything wrong with the sled and it has been running great all easter holiday, so it does not affect the performance.
But after a day riding the ECU 1 flashed sometimes and it was only for a while at the same time as the ECU 17 was flashing.
I will get my sled to the dealer when I have time and let them worry about it

But for now, I will be riding it since they said it`s safe

My dealer also told me that I could just keep on riding as long as I do not see any performance drop. However the norwegian importer of AC is clueless and a bunch of retards. When my dealer contacted them for help they suggested that my sled was tuned and had been running hot. None of which are true!
Hopefully someone have found a solution to the problem!

I would rip off all the panels and check all the wiring for rubs or breaks causing a ground issue. Where is main harness ground on PC? Might have similar issues as the M sled when ground was loose or off. Also any water in harness could cause weird problems. Resistance checks on harness from pipe sensor connector to computer and to ground would be my first step if new sensor didn't fix it.

I still have the same problem! the sled has been at the dealer for a total of 5 weeks at 3 different times. They say they have tried everything. changed ecu, exhaust temp sensor, volt regulator and they also bypassed the cables to the exhaust temp sensor. nothing helps! sometimes the error code ecu 17 flashes almost all the time and the next time im out riding it only comes up 2 or 3 times. I will take it to the dealer again and they will replace the cable harness.

Hope my sled is not one of those sleds that has the ECU error that never goes away. My sled is bone stock and the only thing done to my black ltd are adjusting the shocks.
Run the fuel and oil they say I should run also.
I don`t want my sled to stay in the dealer shop cause it`s snowing like crazy here and been snowing for days and weeks now.
We have a powder adventure we haven`t had for years!

Have the dealer changed the cable harness now?
I am still unable to figure out what is causing this.
Going to try to use another hood just to eliminate that the fault comes from there (gauge, cables).

No! Im going to take it to the dealer later this week. I have tried changing the hood and still get the same codes. I will let you know when the dealer has replaced the cable harness.

As stated before the problem is either sensor or broken wire ecu17 is of course real but I have seen on numerous machines when one code flashes so do fake ones like ecu 1 it's not real. Sounds like ur problem is in the harness or pin connector being that changing ur sensor didn't help. Also just like our o2 probes on aftermarket setups short stop and goes kill the sensors pre mature let everything heat up and burn the carbon off the sensors a few stop and goes just starts to build up and foul the sensors hope this helps

Also I believe running with a failed ex sensor the timing gets retarded or fuel is added or a combo of the two so performance would suffer
