whyyyyy is snowest so slow lately? (502/504 Gateway Errors)

Ten refreshes and still no load on this thread! I got a new notification and it loaded right away. This sucks! Usually goes on the first refresh but I should not have to refresh just to get it warmed up to load. Maybe it's time to flip SW the bird and go to BCR or?
 
Man I wish I understood why SOME people see this error and others don't.
Why is it so DANG inconsistent....
 
Last night worked flawless for about 2 hours straight. tonight is BAD BAD BAD!!! Getting the gateway error over and over on several different posts.

I think you need to start handing out free memberships for us putting up with this crap you guys brought on yourself.

I'll take double lifetime please! But I would settle for eliminating the proxy server and all this BS that came with it.

X3 --- tonight is the 1st time that pressing reload didn't work 100% of the time. It's the worst it has been for me by far tonight comparing it to the past 4 to 6 weeks.
 
The problems are on tt for me now too... can't even get some subforums to load at all now. Never had that problem before.

Its simply not "MY" cord to cut, nor my choice to make Eric.
 
I know Christopher...But you are our only "conduit".

And that you've put a lot of blood, sweat and tears into this forum... This is probably like watching someone taking a fresh GT Mustang/Camaro/Charger you've just sold, and putting on Ford Focus Emblems and spinner wheels with huggy-bear decals.

I just wish that Harris would keep their word to members, and stop already with whatever the reasons are for the proxy... It is simply NOT WORKING.

Incidental Bug Fix.

While this is UNRELATED to the proxy server or the Gateway Errors, it WILL impact speed.

Each year the folks that run the SNOTEL site change their website interface, and it always results in our Real-Time SnoTel Ticker getting broken.

Moments ago we just updated it for the 2013/2014 season.
Part of the delay SOME members were seeing the moment they logged in was from the Ticker TRYING to get the current data and Failing.

IF this bug was effecting you, the next time you log in, there should be a shorter wait before the first forum screen appears.

If you were not using the Real-Time SnoTel Ticker, then this will have NO impact on login times.

Thank You for the small incremental fixes. We are still holding our breath for the big one however!
 
Next incremental "Tweak".

We had our ISP come into the office and perform a diagnostic check up on the fiber optic switch. We were running a bidirectional line at 20mb/s. That just got bumped up to 50mb/s. So we just increased our bandwidth speed by 150%. They also reported back that they are seeing a variety of "errors" on their switch in our office. We are waiting for them to go through each one.

Lets see if this makes any difference.
