Yeah I was very disappointed with the dmax.
When I took my Dodge 3500 Cummins threw the scales with two on the deck and only me in the cab, I was 500lbs under what i'm legally allowed. Time you add in another guy in the cab, and that fact that the truck tank and both sleds were about half full, it would be fully loaded. What I ment is if your hauling Yamaha's or pull a 2 place behind it and have two more guys in the cab, you will be overloaded. Probably not enough to be bothered but overweight nonetheless. I main point is that people doing it with half tons are crazy.
I can't speak for your Dodge, but the F350 I tow with weighs in @ 7600# with a passenger, a full tank of fuel and a small dog. the GVWR is 13,000#. I would challenge you to find me 2 sleds, a deck, and i don't care how much gear you want to throw in to take up the remaining 5400#'s. But whatever, 'nuff said. Just don't put a deck on your 1/2ton!!!
And to chime in on the Toyota deal, we have a good size fleet, and the Tundras and Titans have been a notch or two above the domestics in most categories. I do have a dislike for the blind spots in the Tundra however.

Were are you getting the 12k numbers? I am going off the number that they are legally allowed 10,500. My trucked weighted in a hair over 10,000, the Cummins is a bit heavier then the other trucks from your numbers, but you'd be pushing 11k if you have 2 on the deck, and 6 people in the cab, and tounge weight from a 4 place. You also have to consider rear axle weight, my rear axle was 5700 out of the 10,000lbs. Unless it's a dually, but even then I think they are only about 500lbs more, and they weight quite a bit more.
toyota should be embarrassed with their tundra. its not even a 1/2 ton truck. its inbetween a 1/4 ton and a 1/2 ton
thats cause the truck cant make it to 50k before it falls apart.
13K. And yes, DRW.
In the door jam. or
On Ford.com/specs....
Wow their info sucks, it says 13k, but also 4910 max load capacity and nothing else. Although I find it hard to believe a Ford F-350 dually diesel weights only 7k full of fuel everything, while my SRW Dodge is easily 7.5k. The only rating that matters is your tires and axles though, if your 11k you could be overloaded if you've got to much on the rear axle, which is the likely case. Because my rear axle weight was only 500lbs left, which is why I said only got about 500lbs left.
So you had an 07 or 08 Tundra then? Ever hauled something with one? Been in one? Felt how hard it pulls?
Is your opinion based on absolutely nothing......or are you 13?
Lot's of info in your posts Cyle, but you're splitting hairs. Damn near every camper unit out there on a truck is "overloaded"... Sled decks and sleds don't compare (and no, I don't have one.... I actually run heavy)
Tire ratings DO matter though.. Guy's that run on the heavy end need to insure their tires can take it. Sidewall failure, etc, is pretty common from running heavy and driving fast.
you shouldnt drive a toyota.... keep your money in the USA rather than being sent to china or japan... drive an american built car like Ford, Chevrolet, Dodge, GMC... just my 2 cents
Pretty cool test to check out the handling and durability in really rough conditions.
