Who thinks flatlanders cant ride

Holy crap! LMAO at this whole thread... bawahahaha...

For those that wonder why were giving boostgoose a hard time see this

http://snowest.com/forum/showthread.php?t=40600

Boostboy, sorry to hear about your mother. I know how much my mother means to me, and i wouldnt wish not having one upon anybody :brokenheart: also props for putting up with all the sh!t being shoveled on you, but if you havent figured out how to move out of the way of the shovel then your asking for more...

Ok back to the smack talk. Why is it again that you wont come back to alpine? What are we going to do in togwotee? drag race? you win hands down, i already admit defeat in a drag race, i admit defeat in highmarking too, but we want some good riding in steep canyons and trees!!! I would be there on the 26th but unfortunately i have to work. I can be there the 27th. If troy can get your sled done i could be there on the 24th too. I am willing to drive 4 hours from my parents house back to work in SLC then 4 hours back up to alpine the next morning to ride with ya! Nate will be there running his p ussy and i will have my piece of poolaris (both with ineffecient and underpowered aeros and 2 stroke motors that will blow up), and i suppose if you dont show up then kris55 gets your spot ;)...

I won't let that happen but I'll be in the snowies now and by the way... I might be getting a m8 bd turbo next year!!! 2 strokes aren't really that bad. Hell, 6 or 7 years ago what else would anyone be riding??? A 2stroke. I miss the M7 and the Dragon for the trees. You guys do win in the boondockin department. But my sled minus an xtra 100lbs would be great. SHould be around 535dry. not bad but still 60-70lbs heavier then an Mseries. But hey I'll do my best to ride with ya if you wanna meet in Laramie or whereever...

My is kid is only fifteen been going out sence he was ten and he can ride just as good or better than a lot of riders. People say that they wont try the insane $hit that he does.

Ok, now that I'm done reading and laughing, mostly laughing, Phatty better just stay home. Hey boostgoose...I mean boner, when are you coming to Colorado? I just want to know so I can stay home those days to save myself the embarassment.

i agree, i'll have a :beer; & please pass the popcorn

edit:
i just have to add to this. i out-rode a guy who claimed to have grown up mountain riding & i had only been mountain riding for 4 years. it all depends on the rider.

Did someone say popcorn??? I LOVE popcorn!! I hope you made a double batch cause this is gettin good. What Season series are we on anyways?

Hey!! It looks like you're out of beer, got any Wild Turkey??

:p

Just couldn't resist

Negative on the question, I think flatlanders can ride. Rode with some GREAT ones, forum members. Neversatisfied and a few of his friends, they could ride there asses off, they were from Iowa

An Observation

If you have to tell people that you are a badazz, you arn't. B:beer;

Hay boost boner. I live in Gardiner Montana, the closest you can live to Cooke city with out actually.... living in Cooke city. I'll go riding with you! I go to Cooke almost every weekend ( if money permits ) so if you are going to be up hear then let me know.

BTW, has anyone ever been to Rock Crick Montana? Its about 11 miles from Gardiner and it has better shoots, climbing, and ditch banging then Cooke if you know ware to go. Plus it doesn't get nearly as much traffic as Cooke so there is always fresh powder to get stuck in :D The reason why I am telling you all this is so that maybe the next time you spend a weekend in Cooke, on the way in you might stop there and see if you like it because the forest service is trying to shut it down and the way i see it, the more traffic it gest the better!

Anyways I found this thread most enjoyable so I thought I would say...

I am proud that, I , a 16 year old owns 1968 Chevy truck ($2000) and my own  2006 700 RMK  ($4000). I paid for them completely and entirely by myself in which makes me quite proud. Thus saying all this I am not ashamed in saying I... suck. I get stuck in front of my own house let alone boondocking. But at least I can say I spend a hell of allot less to go sledding then all you guys do and I still have fun. It doesn't matter ware you are, if there’s snow (how ever little of it there might be), and you have a sled, (how ever little it may be) and you have a riding buddy, how could you not have fun? Flatlander or Mountain rider.

If anything you can just spin doughnuts in a parking lot or something? I take that back, screw flatlanders, mountains are ware the funs at!

is that cuz the "mt riders" are busy posing in the parking lot??? ;)

No!! Real MTN Riders are busy posing at their computers!!!

There is plenty of fresh snow for all of our flatland friends in Grand Lake, Vail Pass, Cooke City, and CDST.

It doesnt help flatlanders from iowa who only ride three times a year but when we are there we come to ride instead of watching people climb. i like when people watch me climb and they have a bigger sled that can do anything but they sit there.

I can't believe i just read all of that crap. I feel stupider for reading this. I thought cool but turns out some kid just smarts off, gets in a rut, then trys to be buddy-buddy with everyone. I dont care how well people say they can ride, you know how well you can ride in your own mind. And if someone complements you then fine, but dont brag about it. And if you suck they just keep on trying, after all we are all just snowmobilers. As long as you enjoy what you are doing and you are having fun even if you do suck.

your right just do your thing

Please this tread is a joke. I grew up in the Mid-West and raced all over WI,MI and MN on the cross country racing tour as a kid. Yes the skills are different but you can never learn the skills you need riding there. When I moved west and starting riding in the mountains it was a huge learning curve.
It took atleast 2 years to learn all the trick etc. That was on sleds we had to build to get to the high country. Not just write a check and buy a sled that will take you to the top like you can now. We were bolting plastic and angle iron to our tracks. If you have never rode the mountains you need to know two things for your first trip that you will need often if you get off the trail.

1. Bring a shovel!

2. Be prepared for lots of digging which you wil be doing.

I started riding the mountains in WA state but I learned the most on week long trips to BC. Mountains skills doubled on those trips riding with and watching the locals.

PS. If you want to learn buy a used POS sled to start. You will destroy it learning to ride in the mountains in one season. Expect lots of roll overs and ghost riders. My buddy wanted to learn and has deep pockets and wanted to buy a new Summit to start. At the snow show we bought him a used Cat Powder Special cheap. It was heavy but I knew it would teach him the skills he needed before he bought a 800 rev which could really get him in trouble.
He said that was the best advice he could have gotten. After the first season the hood was destroyed and the sled was a mess. He traded it for a new Revy and lost $500 on the learning experience. Cheap lesson in my book.

There are also 2 rules for riding in the mountains that are group lives by.

Rule 1. Never let go of your sled! "You may have to go to video replay to prove you were thrown from your sled to save face with your buddies." If you hands are still on the bars as your feet pass over your head you may get a bye from your buddies.

Rule 2. In any situation if in all doubt apply more throttle!!!

Enjoy your time digging flat landers. That is what you will be doing your first season in the mountains, not just your first ride.
