Who here has the Summit 600 H.O.

I've been waiting 360 some odd days waiting for Doo to build a 600 Summit XP. Not sure why they held back in 08 but I bought a 600 deep track gade to keep me in the game for this winter. Might work out being worth the wait if they go with the E-Tech in the Summit, we'll see what happens Friday morning. If they don't have a 600 Summit XP I'll be pretty disappointed....

Turbo Baby

Here is my offseason project for my sled. ;)

Cant wait for next season already - Poor little 800's wont be able to keep up.:beer;

What's everyone running for weights, gears, and drivers?

I have 17.4g, 20/43, and 8th 2.52 pitch extroverts. I thought I would gear up from 19/43 when I reduced the drivers from 9th to 8th. I was thinking I would get more track speed, but I don't think it changed anything.

Stock wheight (what ever that is), stock primary, 10tooth 2.52 extroverts, 19/45 gearing; floated tss98 with 48-44 helix and 160-240 spring; v-force reeds, MBRP can, ported track, and the next addition would be a set of XRS ski shocks with Ti springs.

600 summit long track

I bought an 07 600 SDI summit last year. I long tracked it to 159", lowered the gearing and added DJ S6X kit and a MBRP can. I started out with Joes new primary spring which gave exsplosive bottome end but I wasn't getting the speed form mid range and up so went back to stock spring which has less finishing force. Very happy witht he set-up. I ride with the 800's and it takes a strong one to beat me high-marking in powder. I can't touch the XP's but stay with most the the stock 07's 800. Don't do quite as well when the powder dries up in the spring and there is hero snow. What I like is that it gets good milage, runs well at -40 or any other temp, at any elevation. I just ride which is a great thing. I have had lot of people looking under the hood thinking that I had a bigger motor or major engine mods. It is nice to kick a$$ with 600.

I was looking forward to a 600 Summit X, but I was hoping for a 146". Don't matter though, decided to buy a new truck instead of a new sled:)

Anyone know much about the 600 e-tech? Dealer in Laramie told me they didn't have a demo because the 600 e-tech doesn't work at elevation. This has go to be BS. What's with that?

Hey I dont ride a 600, but my fiancie rides a 2007 it ran great the first season, she put about 400 miles on it. Then this year every time we rode in the powder it started then flooded and fouled the plugs the next day we went out. Dealer said it was bad gas drained it and replaced the plugs and it did it again the next weekend again. Any other ideas guys?

I would have to say that it is BS, there is no reason why it wouldn't work at elevation. I would also assume that Skidoo would not make an E-Tec summit if it didn't work at elevation.

just about have 5000 miles on my 2006 600sdi with the 144. love the sled but i had a few problems with it early on. clutching was never right from the dealer, and i needed to get the ecu remapped after my exhaust was glowing red one night. anyone with this sled have problems hitting peak rpms after riding a straight stretch of trails, or riding with little change in throttle position for a few minutes? ive always had this problem, but learned to deal with it. i ride trails rarely but it still kind of bugs me. whats everyone running for clutching, and how are belts holding up? the inside half of the primary gets scolding hot on this sled, so i threw on a side panel vent and switched to the 166 belt that holds up a little better. im currently running a 160/290 primary spring with 19grams of pin weight, a doo roller secondary, straight 44, and the purple doo secondary spring. 19/45 gearing. rips pretty good, might try a 44/40 and see how that works out. all riding done in the u.p.

Never had the problem hitting peak RPMS, but I ride a carbed model. For cooler clutching, get a secondary floating spacer to allow the secondary to self align, it sure helped to cool my clutches I run a TSS 98 with a 48-44 helix and 160-240 spring, and it pulls harder then it ever did with the stock secondary.

yea im floating the secondary also, i thought it would cure my belt problem, but they arent lasting as long as i would like. i got about 700 miles out of a 166 before it pulled a cord, and half of those miles were fairly easy miles. second 166 had maybe 150-200 miles of boondock miles before it pulled a cord. clutches are running fairly cool, i compare with other sleds i ride with and mine are usually the coolest. after a pretty hard climb they get pretty hot, but what the hell they should last longer than that, no?

Junk that those 166 belts, they were defective. I can't remember the normal # for a 600 belt, 357 maybe? A belt should go atleast 600miles min. before going.

normal number for a 600 belt is a 197 i think. the reason i switched to the 166 was because of the poor life on the 197. they turned to sponge after a couple hundred miles, didnt seem to take the heat well. running the 166's this year, belt dust is at a minimum, and they seem to maintain performance longer. could be just me or my sled though. i also tried the new 377 today, its a bit shorter and wider, do its not working out. deflection set at zero on the secondary, the belt is tight and sitting flush. rpms are getting pulled way down. might be able to tune for it, but im not sure.

Man I couldnt even tell you what belt I have ....

Im a year and half on the belts that came with the sled. I changed last seasons with me extra one this season just because I was bored.

Honestly though $80 belt every 600+ miles isnt too bad.

But 1000 miles on a belt is better :D
