Who here has the Summit 600 H.O.

SNAFU, what RPM was your sled engaging at before the new spring? With the kit installed mine is engaging at about 4300. According to Joe it should about 3800, so I'm trying to figure that out.

NedMark, I checked and the original spring that came with the kit was a Dalton Grey spring 200/330. My engagement RPM was about 4400 on the tack. With the 160/320 spring I am down around 4000 RPM, but I know my tack is reading 150 to 200 RPM high. Lowering the initial spring force really helped to avoid track spin in the powder.

the 734/738 whichever it is is quite the ripperi left the 600 stickers on as a joke, i also have a DJ clutch kit and it really helpes it run, i was alble mark close to a summit 800 151 with a pipe, can and a bunch of lightweight stuff. it had the extra track to handle the the deep powder thats where it really got me, i was just sinking.

and the thing will pul and go always, it doesnt like cold starts, a few pulls on the chord and it runs all day and with my 738 it still runs rich with factory jetting, not bad that a 140cc bigbore still uses the same amount of fuel but makes a TON more power.

Ski-Dooin' it I am now down to 370 mains and the needles in the middle clip. I just replaced the reeds with Boyesen RAD valves. Boyesen recommends jetting down 1 size on the mains. I'll ride it first then check.

BTW guys we need to keep this up. I think the 600 is one of the best ever built and a true diamond. I think its nice to have some other folks to chat with and trade info.

Lets keep it up.

I will have to get me one of those clutch kits.....

Has anyone done a head job yet? I just dont want to lose reliablity. And thats what this slead is -- RELIABLE.

I have a 600 summit that my Daughter always rode.I never rode it until my 07 800r blew too many belts and she was able to kick my butt.It runs so sweet I don't want to touch it!!:D

I got a 04 600 for the wife. Came with Wiescos and this little thing rips.
I did a little searchin on the net and found if you go down to 370's and take out the shims in the needles you can run 91. Sounds like the 05 and up's a different story and is not recommended.
Sounds like the secondary springs weren't a great combo either so I switched to a violet spring and threw in the Helix off my 800. Primary spring is OK but went to a 160/350.
Haven't run it yet but will soon. I think next year I might throw a 151 on her.

I actually think I'd take my 734 over an 800 BB now, learned my lesson maybe? :p

734 SDI would be great. :)

And yes, those 734s are WAY good on fuel...almost scary good... haha

Is there a 600HO Summit XP? :D

No XP this year, I think I read in SnoWest mag they're doing it next year.

I got an '06 SDI for my daughter; I haven't ridden it much, though. Rode it for part of a day in the Big Horns last year, it seemed to work pretty well for a 600 with a fat guy ridin' it...:D

Great sled, I keep up with the 800s, and it is often more fun then the 8s as I have to work to get there:). I just put a team roller on my 05 600 Summit. I had the clutching dialed, but I figured a roller secondary would be an improvment. I am out of town for another couple weekends, so I guess I will see in a couple weeks.

I have rode an 05 Summit 600 for 2 years know and am overall pleased with it. My only complaint is that when the RPM's get pulled down it doesn't want to recover. Last year I put a different spring in the primary and geared it down, which helped (can't remember what spring I put in) I am thinking of buying Dynamoe Joes kit and maybe a Team Secondary. I would like to keep my motor stock for reliability reasons. I think clutching improvements are the best bang for your buck

Team Secondary

Hi all,

I have about 600kms with my Team Secondary on my 05 600 Summit now and like it, but I am going to change the spring one rate to smooth it out a little. My set up is a TSS-98 with 180-260 (Black/Light Blue) and a 48-44/48-42 helix with the 48-44 in use. I plan on changing my spting to a 160-240 (Black Purple). Does anyone know what width of chain is on an 05 600? I can't remember what it is and want to drop my gearing without taking the cover off just to check the width.

I just checked the BRP online parts catalog and it says it a 13 wide 74 link... I thought it was going to be a 15 wide...

I have a 04 summit 600 144 and it's a great sled Just before I sold my 800 REV I told all the good parts I had on it and put them on the 600, I'm always looking for more performance and my buddies laugh saying how much better do you want it to go, it's only a 600!.

600ho

I have a 05' 600HO in a 03' zx chassis and was worried about power and getting left behind until I got it dialed in. It rips and is one sweet boondocker. I geared it down, put on extravert drivers, V-force 3 reeds and a set of kick@$# fliters.

im sotra pissed, i loved the reliability until i descided to start modding, burned it down twice, both my fault. pinched fuel line and underjetted at cookecity. and then my crank bearings are going to so they managed to rattle a wrist pin clip out and put a hole in the side of the piston and burn it down, its pretty sweet, now its about a 750ish with weiscos in it, but i have to get my crank checked out as my one piston had the top being pushed in as it was wobbling around bad. its still an amazing sled, when it runs right, it hangs right with lightly modded M7 153s which is cool because they are by far the best stock mountain sled.

Since I’m conveniently close to Big John "sled head racing" I gave him my 05 600 summit to work on two summers ago. New clutch, some top end work and pipe/can. When the dyno numbers came back it was cranking out 140 hp and I thought he said 96 ft/lbs of torque. It has been a reliable and awesome sled to ride. Was to Cooke a couple weeks ago and riding with some guys for the day that we met their. All they could say was "That’s no 600, that sled is going place's it shouldn't be going." Didn't tell them what I had, I was just there to ride and have fun. Cant wait to ride my little 6 again in the snowies in a couple weeks.

Heading West

Heading for Colorado on Saturday....Got DJ's kit installed on my 05 600 Summit 17.5 grams on clicker 4 per the set up sheet that was sent. Hopefully the set up is close cuz there won't be much time to play around with dialing it in

Whats up 600 riders!!!

Just wanting to see how everyones sled is running.

For those who threw a DJ clutch kit this year- how do you like it??

Later,

Joe

Well, rode the 600 all last week. I got the TEAM secondary all dialed in with a lighter spring. Rode in a couple of feet of powder at the beginning of the week and I was climbing right with a mod 800 zx summit. The end of the week was hard pack and the sled would nearly pull over backwards on the hills. Now I got the pipe and y pipe off for ceramic coating, and I did some minor port smoothing.
