who drives alot for work and now have a higher MPG car?

I think if I had my own house, I'd probably buy a small car for putting around town in ... I guess really though the only time I drive my pickup is towing the toys around, I have a truck for work and the company pays for all the gas for it ...

my Cummins averages 13.7 mpg. I drive 34 miles round trip for work. BUT, I carpool with three other guys, so I have to drive about 1 week/month...saves me over $300 on fuel every month.

I've considered spending $1000 on a beater Honda or something, but the safety of that car vs. my pickup just isn't worth it. All the guys I carpool with have newer Audi's (2000 or later models), so they are fairly safe cars and I feel ok in them.

Drive a 1 ton shivvy with a service body. Gets about 8 mpg. Filled uo Friday took $170.00 to fill. Glad I ain't paying for the gas.

I'm in my work car all freaking day long driving clients tither and yon. I bought a Toyota Corolla new in 99. All I've had to do is change the oil and buy tires and brakes for it in 120,000 miles. Gets around 28 mpg.

Thats cheap, my service truck takes 210 liters to fill, and gets about 8MPG. Thats good for a f450 that GVW out at 16500.
I'm not paying for diesel thank god. The oil companys are:):):):).
I call it the cost of doing buisness.

I had a celica I got for free and it ran good and got 38mpg. I sold it because the additional insurance cost alone ended up costing me more $$ than just driving my truck to work at 16mpg.

Glad I kept the VW diesel. I get 45-52 MPG in that thing and it pulls like a tank. We can't afford to not have that car.

im right there with ya! jetta TDI, consistently gets 45-46 mpg @ 80-85mph. I drive 100 miles a day to work and back. My Dmax was getting 20 mpg at 68 mph. You do the math on how much money i saved... oh and when i pull the dirt bikes or sled on the 1 place trailer with the jetta i still get 37 mpg... :D

i get 50mpg highway and 42 in town with my 87 vw jetta td. for the next 7 weeks im driving back and forth for school. approx 243km one way. i leave tuesday night back thursday afternoon. i can do the round trip for 20-25 liters. car is paid for, and the only thing i have really replaced is tires, oil, stuts (lots of gravel road driving), and brakes. been a great car...

I just keep the diesel hooked up to either the boat or sled trailer and drive a cj-7 around town now, doesn't get great gas mileage but gas is cheaper than diesel and it's a lot easier to drive around town than an f-350

I drive around 60000 miles a year in my Cummins. It's rediculous. Not too sure what to do. I MAY buy a cheap car to run back and forth to town in, but that doesn't help me when I need the dodge for work...

liabilty man, liabilty.

I drive 26 miles one way to work. Either drive the wifes Taurus that gets around 30, or my 1990 Probe that cost 750 bucks and gets low 30s. Thinking about buying a company subsidized bus pass that will get me a weeks worth of trips into work for 20 bucks. Should save some cash, just not sure about being stuck on a set schedule. There's always a chance I will be working late, and if I miss the bus, then I'm F'ed.

Trying to talk the wife into letting me sell the Probe and picking up an old Yammi or Honda cruiser for cheap. So far no go.

Phatty I love the pics! I ride bikes with a guy who hauls with his Saturn!

drive 80 miles to and from work. wife drives 12 miles. i drive the car and it get 22mpg (sts) and she gets 13 mpg (escalade). had a little acura rsx and hated it. never drove it . to small for me. only got about 28 to 32 mpg but took 93 octane or lifters would tick. so with extra 25 cents a gallon and by the time insurance was more then it was worth. plus i felt like a asian woman driving it. its only about 10 bucks more a tank than before. 3.29 gallon to 3.79 gallon now. not that big of a deal for me. i feel for the small companys who run trucks though. gov. will step in soon to bail out some tax relief soon im sure. wont stay around 4.00 to long. last few years it goes up around a holiday, then drops back down. had a bike, but not safe in citys anymore. to many crazys, but thats another story.:beer;:beer;

I drive about 30k miles each year for work etc.

Got a 06' chev impala and am very impressed at the mileage of this thing! Right at 30 mpg on the highway. Real good for such a big vehicle
