Where is a good place in Denver to look for a house?

Keep in mind, it is Colorado. You most likely will NOT find what you are looking for for less than 250k unless you buy out where XC did or are in the right place at the right time. Especially on the Front Range where living in the foothills and being able to commute to the City for work is considered a luxery and carries a hefty price tag.

I know that I'm too far away than you would like but to compare, my property cost 220k 7 years ago. Worth more than that now. Property like that in Denver would be even more, given the size. You probably are loooking at the high 200k range and if you find something considerably cheaper, you will want to lock EVERYTHING up and get a security system, with cameras and recording equipment.

Best of luck.

You can do like most of the rest of us and find an area you like first and then find a nearby storage place to keep the trailer at. I have a place within 10 minutes of my house that I keep my trailer at that is gated and has security cameras all over the place. I pay about $65 /month for a 40' spot. That seems to be the going rate around my place. There are cheaper places but they aren't as secure.

I would definitely start working with a realtor who knows the area well. A good one will be able to find what fits your likes and budget. I live East of Monument and drive to Denver almost every day now. I think that a bit of a drive is worth having the house and setup you want.

Eh ... I already have a 60 minute commute to work every day as it is, if I can cut that down it'd be cool, if not I guess it won't be any different than what I already am doing.

But yeah, having the trailer parking is gonna be key.

This probably won't happen till after the first of the year, so I guess I'll just keep my eyes peeled for stuff...

Look in Lakewood.

I lived off 6th and garrison

You can buy well under the $300k range. Smack in the middle of the city and the mouth of i70. RV Parking everywhere... even on your front lawn

That was the first place I started looking on the MLS lists but only found one house for unnder $350,000 that looked like I could park an RV there.

There is a **** ton of stuff if all you want is just a nice vanilla 2 car garage home but the second you say you want RV parking or a 3-car garage the price goes up like $100,000 :(

Nice place but outta my price range .. plus I need to be able to park a 31' trailer without too much hassle :(

Good luck, you're gonna need it. I lived in Thornton and worked downtown. It was 15 miles from my driveway to my parking garage....took me 30 minutes on a good day (ie - federal holiday that I had to work). Normally I had to budget about 40-45 minutes for a commute unless I wanted to pay the $3.50 one way toll. My house was on the northern edge of metro, I had grain fields behind me, and the neighborhood was in the 200-300k range. HOA's are gonna kill you and will prove to be your enemy when looking for a place in your price range, with a good commute and RV parking. My advice, stay in Vernal. Thats why I quit my job in Denver and moved to the sticks....I can park my trailer wherever the hell I want to now and my house is about 150k cheaper!! Best of all, NO TRAFFIC!! Oh yeah, and when I am driving home at the end of a long day of sledding, it takes me 20 minutes to get home instead of 3-4 hours of sitting on I70 in ski/holiday traffic.

house

i am selling my house off 6th and wadsworth. huge back yard, RV parking. i have my 32' motorhome in there and a 2 place trailer with some room to spare. heated, finished 2 car garage. house is kinda small, about 1200 sq ft but im only lookin to get about 200k for it.

why did i know that PJ would have some kind of intelligent thing to say.

Well, for one. I was kinda teasing you. Don't cry. Second, a 1200sf house here (Kremmling and surrounding areas) is now selling for 140-160 depending on improvements. It's a buyer's market, not a seller's.

And what's the difference between somebody saying that I live in an inbred community and has poor dental hygeine than me asking about a $200k small home? None.

Right downtown is a challenge for RV's, you'll likely be just out of downtown. Price point is a big determining factor. I breathe sleds and work in real estate. I don't think we have one anymore. Not much of a real interesting history here. Just the only place in the High Country where three rivers combine into one.

There's some older neighborhoods in West Lakewood, Wheatridge and Golden that have bigger garages and yards for an RV. Hwy 6 East is by far the easiest way into downtown. And you get a little head start getting out of the city and into the mountains. The link will give you an idea of the prices in the area and you can zoom in and get an aerial view of the yard to see if you can fit a RV somewhere.

415 Garland Street Lakewood. I sold the house for $315,500 (IIRC) a little over 2 years ago. Keep an eye on the neighborhood.

We moved because we were looking for a nicer neighborhood but I do miss all this room
