No Good… Need advice on broken chain case

Thanks for the input! All parts are on order and should be here by Saturday. I got a copy of the shop manual and reviewed everything, but have run into a small dilemma.. The shop manual calls for pulling the bulkhead floor plate for this repair, which requires pulling the motor. Im not quite sure why, as in looking at the area and the parts there is only two rivets that will need to be popped out during the removal of the current chain case and maybe some glue. Does anyone have any feedback or thoughts on the bulkhead floor plate?

So that when the drill gets away from you, you don't hit anything important?
About the only thing I can see.

Or they had someone melt an oil line with a torch and decided you should remove everything?

I'm guessing they want you to take the entire plate off and replace it, as it's not possible to get it perfectly clean for the new adhesive.

It does state that plate is sacrificial.

Gettinlost, did you ever get this project done ?
I have a buddies '19 850 that we are looking at replacing the damaged chaincase for low dollar. Curious if you had replaced the floor plate or not ? Thanks
