Where is a good place in Denver to look for a house?

Strong possibility I'm going to be moving to Denver in the next 3-4 months.

Need to find a house as close to downtown as possible, but I need to have RV parking and preferably a 3-car garage.

Anyone have any ideas on where to start looking? :)

Long term move? Welcome to the front range!

Why the necessity to live so close to the city?

Housing 20-30 minutes out would be more suited to your needs and would get you out of living fence to fence with your neighbors.

I'd just like the morning commute to be as painless as possible mainly. Will probably be working right downtown if they transfer me.

If your new company allows flex hours you can live wherever you want. I used to work down in the tech center and lived up north. As long as I was there for the middle of the day meetings they didn't care when I showed up. That is key for avoiding traffic. Somedays I was down there by 6am other days it was 9:30 or 10. Since you are downtown look into the light rail or express bus service too from houses you are considering.

I work from home now though so you should also talk to people that are currently commuting down there for their opinions.

I commute 1-2 days a week from Colorado Springs. It takes me 45 minutesto get to Denver. Denver, not the metro area. If you have unlimited house budget you might find what you're looking for, but RV parking is unlikely at your house. I'm sure there are guys that commute from Evergreen that can speak about that. You're going to have to compromise on some of your requirements. Either the drive or the RV parking for sure.

Been looking, looks to me like you're in the $300,000 and up range for getting houses with RV parking anywhere near downtown.

Probably gonna have to look further away, I don't think I can afford a $350,000 house.

Look in Conifer, Littleton, Lakewood maybe even Highlands Ranch. Remember, with the economy it's the buyers market. Start calling Real Estate agents and asking about foreclosure sales ans short sales.

All of the above towns will get you into Downtown easy enough with the exception of Conifer. I'd also look in Morrison. Close enough to the city you can work in it but not live in it and deal with the bigcity BS.

Good luck man! It will be nice to have ya in CO.

I would spend some time looking around. If you want to live in anywhere USA Suburbia...thats all your going to get withing 10-15 minutes from town.

Double that drive and you can live in a place that feels like Colorado.

I can't really help on where to look. But I can say I lived in S.E. Aurora for 7 years and hated that it took 30-45 minutes just to get to the foothills. I would shoot for a balance that is still close to work and toward the west side of the metro area.

I always thought Denver traffic in and out of the downtown area sucks, especially when there is a football/basketball/baseball/hockey game.

Are you familliar with Zillow.com? It isn't always 100% accurate but will definitely give you an idea on what is being asked and recently sold prices for houses.

Good luck.

lived in denver area for 12 yrs now from auroara to arvada/greenwood village. i work construction and am all over town. i live around denver west and love it.easy commute downtown, 15/20 in heavy traffic(rare) usually a 10 min drive. but my suggestion is anywhere north lakewood/or anything along 6th. closer get to downtown thow starts to be commercial/industrial. my 2cents. mike ps welcome to denver its allot of fun. also really close to mountains.

A lot can be had in the Conifer area for a little coin. And the commute isn't bad, as long as you don't need to travel at peak rush hour. You can still get a few acres, no HOA bull, and a nice sized house for under $300k. Foothills living isn't for everyone though....
