What pack to get?

I know this is probably beating a dead horse, but i'm in need of a new pack, and would like some pointers. I'm using a big snowboard pack now. It's not that it's too big, I just want some different things.

1. Outside shovel, probe, and handle storage.
2. Some sort of easy access pocket for things I use lots
3. Big enough for lots of "stuff"

Buddy bought the OGIO pack out of the CATalog, and it works awesome, and has ALL the features I want, just doesn't seem to quite have the room.

What's everyone else using? Anybody have pics with thier packs, so I can get an idea of how big they are?

Thanks, guys!

I have used two different packs, HMK and OGIO Three6.... My HMK was great, it just wasn't big enough for eveything... I lost all my dash storage, so I needed more. The OGIO three 6 is great, almost twice the storage of the HMK, but doesn't seem that much bigger when you have it on... Has plenty of storage, ect.... They have discontinued them, but I got a great deal, 50 bones, when it retailed for 110... Here is the website....

OGIO Three 6

Did you have a good Christmas? Get out riding? You still thinkin bout coming down for the Forum ride? You should!!!

I use the true north adventure gear lightining pack, you may like the storm pack as it is a little bigger and has more storage. These packs are great, most comfortable pack I have ever used, most of the time I never notice it is even on, it has big D ring style shoulder straps, makes getting the pack on and off a snap even with a heavy coat on.

Here is there web site, http://www.tnagear.com/ they are great people to work with also.

that ogio pack looks great. I have been looking for something like that. how far off of your back does it stick? Is it pretty low profile?

It is a great pack.... It is only 5" deep, so it doesn't stick way out.... IMHO, it's the best pack I have tried on...

I have the Dakine Helipro, works really good but is a tad small. The next one up is called the Guide I think, I know Marcuso has one and its freakin' huge! Lots of room for all your survival gear and other stuff.

x3 for the ogio , of the 8 guys we ride with 7 of them have it.( We worked for a co that gave them as gifts one year) Love it. Shovel and handle storage on the outside. A goggle pouch that is lined with fleece so it wont scratch them. Its set up for a camel back but doesn't come with the bladder. Great pack I would buy one in a heart beat.

I have several Dakine packs(they are all awesome)...the helipro is great but i also have a tunnel bag for a few extra things.I have the Guide pack that i use for Split Boarding but i wouldnt use it for sledding....way to big!!!

Have a look on Ebay...lots of Dakine packs for wicked prices!!!

Dakine. A lot of different sizes available, very well made, slim profile and reasonably priced. I like the Heli-pak but it may be a little small if you need to take lots of stuff.

Just ordered the Ogio Three 6. I like the Ogio arctic cat bag but dont ride a cat so that wouldn't do.

yep TNA

ABS ! Why wouldn't you buy a avy pack ? They will do you more good than a beacon ! Spend now or spend later !

$$$$$ is the number one reason......

It is definitely on my list, but till I can afford it, I use what I can afford...

ABS 30, if you feel your life is worth $800. Very nice pack.

I got the OGIO Three 6 for Christmas from my parents. I used it today. Had a footlong sub my video camera(bag and all), 2 1L gatoraides, touque, extra pair of gloves, tools, spare googles, gps, HMRS radio, fleece vest, probe, shovel, chocolate bars. I think thats it, and there was room to spare. Things I really like about the pack are...

-You don't have to undo any buckles to access any part of the pack
-It can hold both your shovel AND a snowboard or ski's on the outside
-It matches my new jacket.

What I don't like very much...

-It gets kinda warm, the back is neoprene I think and is tight against your back. Gets sweaty

My last pack was a suspension pack, all that touched your back was mesh and then the pack itself was about .5" off your back so there was good ventilation.
