What does Ruffyrider,Milehigh Cmantle and Alan Combs have in common ??

i never look at fouled plug anymore,
but this thread was a score!

I guess this is the downfall of this nation,
at least we'll still have masturbation...

On a serious note,
the future is beginning to look like a sinking boat.

People are growing apart,
and not laughing at farts.

In the end were all on the same team,
****, i need another shot of Beam...;)

Hows that nytro treating you?
ive been looking to try one thats blue....

Yours Truly,

Evolution of an Engineer:

In high school you hang out with all the smart kids, the ones that want to change the world. They belong to many organizations, they collect money for New Orleans victims, they volunteer.

In college they fill your head with thoughts of helping the less fortunate. You find yourself wanting to march against something, to really make a difference, correct an injustice.

Once your out of college, you find your first job, you gobble up information, and work extra hours. You talk about taxing the rich, and helping the poor, about using your new found wealth and engineering talent to better society. After all, your making as much money as your parents do. You can't imagine needing more money than this.

But, then you notice that some people don't pull their weight at work, but they get paid more than you. You start to notice how much money is coming out of your check. You strike up conversations with the workers in the back, and learn how they get back more than they pay into the system. You learn that the executives make more than you can every imagine. You meet senior engineers with gorgeous wives, and fast cars, and big houses. Then you find that the liberal groups that you joined, hate you because your "rich", and pretty bluntly let it be known that all they really want from you is your money. Not your input.

Then one of the workers start biotching at you about how it's not fair they make less than you do. So, you ask them why don't they go back to school, the company will pay for it? They start making excuses, "it's too hard". And suddenly, you start to realize why nearly all the engineers, and business owners, and managers are republican. Now if we could just get the republican party back their roots.

LMAO...some spineless worm left me negative rep saying "so you like Obama too" because apparently believing in the Constitution has caused me to become a Democrat!!

At least have the sac to sign your name.

You know... you keep saying stuff like this, but I have to say, this must of been your personal experience. It surely wasn't and isn't mine. I also question how many other engineers went through what your story above says.... Seems like it depends upon the classes that where taken and the situations that you put yourself into... My education career was much, much different.... From all the chem engs, ME, CE, CpE's, EE's, that I know and have known, your story is very far from the truth and their experiences...

Does this story make you feel good? It seems it should because all I got from it is a means of you venting your frustration....

A lot of it has to do with where you went to school. Either coast, is a good place to start. And yes, I've seen it about 10 times. Two extreme example. But, I can't tell you how many engineers start flip-flopping at about 35 to 40 years old. Maybe you work with a bunch of new people, or old people that already went through this. Or, do you work with guys that where educated where they live and work. Or, it's not good for you career to express yourself in that area.

Just watch, you'll see it. Might take a while though, you aren't going to notice it in just a of couple years.

You do agree that most republicans are white, working people, on the upper end of the pay scale, don't you? And, you remember college, all the greenie and socialist organizations. Must be a transition in there somewhere.

At least I struck a nerve, must be some truth here. Does it make your feel better to deny this?

Yes, it did strike a nerve, because my experience has been completely the opposite!

I work with new and old currently, and have worked with all of the above previously... all of them have not been educated where they live or work, including me.

My boss is a strong democrat, I am more middle between the two in realistic achievablility (yes I just made up that word), but I am crazy conservative in core beliefs.... but that isn't going to happen in a society with so many people... Topic for another day....

I take issue with your definition of republican.. white, working people, on the upper end of the pay scale... Seems then with that definition, the democrats must be minorities, not working, and on the lower end of the pay scale? I take issue with that... That has not been my experience....

Where I went to school, they did have greenie programs, but not to the extent you are talking about, though my school was a tech university, and they also had (what is the opposite of greenie?) programs too..

I have heard you talk about instructors pushing their so called agenda.... what classes are you talking about? My profs never pushed anything in Mechanics of Materials, Energy Systems, Stability and Dynamics in Power Systems, or Circuits...... I never got a speech about how socialism and wilderness is the future, while learning KCL and KVL.... It seems that to get teachers like you discuss, you need to put yourself in a position where that is the topic... Which brings me back to the original point... Why did you put yourself in that situation if you didn't like the message? Or were you being literal with your example, and you wanted to change the world?

I think a lot of this has to do with the conservative rights belief that the democrats you see on TV represent the majority of beliefs of ALL democrats. This is not so from my experience....

Good tangent! Let's keep it going...

Ah, I never said the teachers where filling our heads. I was referring to all the special interest groups, recruiting people on campus. And, the general liberal idealism of a campus. A mixed campus with mostly none technical degree people (liberal arts majors). Sorry, but my only option was state college. Oh and they recuit hard.

Saw lots of engineers take jobs with companies that they opposed. But hey, they needed a job. So, idealism to the wayside. Eventually, they came around to believing they had been stupid to ever hate the industry.

I've known some liberal managers. Most of them didn't last in engineering too long. Ones I knew retired as soon as possible, and took up a more laid back line of work.

And, even back East, I never believed any of this "nuke the baby whale for Jesus" stuff. To me, national forests were being killed by the closers, the environment was improving, and all things had a technical solution, as long as you keep emotion out of the equation. Nope, I'm talking about other engineers I went to school with, and many young ones that came into work all worried about the less fortunate.

Take the ozone hole, global cooling, and the end of oil, those were huge reasons to save the environment back then. Ever since ancient greece, the world was going to end tomorrow, and the old days were always better.

At my campus, there were the religious cults, and the save the world cults, nothing else.

My point is, that as you earn money, and collect things, you start to steer towards the republican party, because suddenly, their slamming people like you, as being the cause of all the world's problems. Obama sure knows who to blame. "The rich".

This is well put.

I think you would want me to leave her out of this!!!!

You've already crossed that line, so why stop now? You've shown your true colors and what a low class POS you are.

Its sad that you have no women in your life that you love or respect, otherwise you'd realize just how far over the line you've crossed. I hope its never your wife/mom/daughter on the receiving end of someone like you.
