What does Ruffyrider,Milehigh Cmantle and Alan Combs have in common ??

Outsider? How is a person an outsider when you have to change the system from within? I never understood that one...

You either need the blessing of the elite, or the blessing of a crap load of people! The people are easier to get IMO, as your strings are your own. I love all this talk about elite that and elite this, and many statements seem to be blanket statements, which would then be equally directed at McCain too, right?;)

What I do like about Obama is that he has been in many different positions in life, seen the world from many different perspectives/sides..........

that is valid but far from equal. nobama's comrades are quite different in terms of ideology. you fail to see that and i might add are an advocate as such. your hubris is coming through more and more. too my knowledge, which is very limited, you have never said anything negative regarding obama's ties with radical liberals who hate america... why?

so you're saying that those local guys who lend help to get whoever into higher office, are just hoping for scraps and not expecting anything at all? Me I don't think my fellow man works that way....I know I generally don't.

They might be expecting something for their help, but I think that is different then Obama offering them something for their help.... Small difference, maybe, but large from the fact of who has the power!

More Seinfeld, who has hand!

Sorry my good man, but I'm going to have to respectfully disagree. People are in office because of the machine, not the people. I have witnessed it locally and on the state level. Elected officials doing the right thing for their constituents and getting f'ing hammered in the next election because the party didn't like them stepping out of line. Check out Nicole Parra and what happened to her by her own party here in Cali., she has a new office in another building across the street from everyone else. Basically the head of the assembly said, you want to go and work with the otherside, enjoy the dog house. Google Dick Dickerson, and what happen to him after he went against the republicans.

As for blanket statements, I do like about Obama is that he has been in many different positions in life, seen the world from many different perspectives/sides

So has John McCain...

So has John McCain...

McCain knows what it is a like to be a black man? To be a minority? To be at the bottom of the race pile? To work for little pay to try and get housing for poor minority urban areas while all the companies are looking to take advantage of everyone.... Well shiver me timbers!

Would you say that Obama's life has been average for a regular person, or above average for a politician?

Does this have anything new to add? Yah, you don't have to read all of it, you can just give me your opinion from the first two sentences.:p

Note, lets be clear here... I didn't say he grew up that way, I said he knows about those issues. Because he has worked there, he has tried to help them, tried to give them hope...... That perspective is difficult to get as a white person driving past on the expressway......

Grip? Must be the lotion... lol

ok that was funny(lotion).:beer; as for the article goes... do you know what a community organizer is? that article makes it sound like its all benevolent. not so... its more of a trainging ground for hate and how to gain power. the black panthers could be considered as community organizers. if nobama really cares dont you think he would start with his family. he has a brother in kenya he could send $20 to and make that guy rich. as of today i dont think he has done anything.

Why does he need 20 bucks? I talked to him last week and he said he was doing just fine? lol

Black panthers would be on the extreme side of community organizers.....

Training ground to hate? Oh, snap... You been reading Reagan propaganda again?

See those poor people over there.... they aren't looking at how to make their community better, they are trying to steal your wallet!

I haven't looked too much into Saul Alinsky... Tell you what, I will check it out and get back to you before I start digging a hole to stand in while I put my foot in my mouth! Sound like a plan?:p

hey i drank beer and played craps with some black guys in the projects a few times....does that count for anything?

You know just in case I run for office someday.

That is a very loose connection of dots.... I would ask... Do you think most state politicians would be willing to help out a state senator get to be president? I view not as he owes them something... but that they are hoping for a chance to get an ear of the pres, or some scraps.....

I would be interested to see what campaign workers have worked on what campaigns on both republicans and democrats. I am thinking the list would be interesting, as the political pool is smaller then most people think.

You might be able to build up a campaign, over time, without the help of big financial backers. But, I doubt you could rise out of Chicago politics, straight to president, without owing someone big time. I think Mooseknuckle said it best. Obama isn't clean, he didn't get where he is without powerful friends. And, now he will owe them favors. Problem is, these friends of his, we need to know what their agenda is. Maybe it's the same as Bill Clinton's rich friends, they just want favors.

If he isn't careful, he'll end up like his father. Living on the street, drinking himself to death.

Obama, lived in Indonesia, lived in Hawaii, lived in New York, lived in Chicago, went to two colleges, Harvard being one, traveled all over the world, has a 1.6 million dollar house, a family, never had a real job for any time. But somehow, he's not struggling to pay back his school loans. Must be nice. Sounds like all the average Americans I know.

Evolution of an Engineer:

In high school you hang out with all the smart kids, the ones that want to change the world. They belong to many organizations, they collect money for New Orleans victims, they volunteer.

In college they fill your head with thoughts of helping the less fortunate. You find yourself wanting to march against something, to really make a difference, correct an injustice.

Once your out of college, you find your first job, you gobble up information, and work extra hours. You talk about taxing the rich, and helping the poor, about using your new found wealth and engineering talent to better society. After all, your making as much money as your parents do. You can't imagine needing more money than this.

But, then you notice that some people don't pull their weight at work, but they get paid more than you. You start to notice how much money is coming out of your check. You strike up conversations with the workers in the back, and learn how they get back more than they pay into the system. You learn that the executives make more than you can every imagine. You meet senior engineers with gorgeous wives, and fast cars, and big houses. Then you find that the liberal groups that you joined, hate you because your "rich", and pretty bluntly let it be known that all they really want from you is your money. Not your input.

Then one of the workers start biotching at you about how it's not fair they make less than you do. So, you ask them why don't they go back to school, the company will pay for it? They start making excuses, "it's too hard". And suddenly, you start to realize why nearly all the engineers, and business owners, and managers are republican. Now if we could just get the republican party back their roots.

Couldn't have said it better myself!!!!Well put.:beer;

Found the answer.

Most of the Obamas' income in 2006, when they had $991,296 in annual income, came from royalties on the books. That was down from the nearly $1.7 million they took in 2005, a total also boosted by a book deal. The Obamas have not released their 2007 tax returns, but have pledged to do so later this month.

Mrs. Obama claims they used the book money to pay down their loans. Why didn't find this first Ruffy???
At least this makes a little sense.
