What do you like to see in Sled videos?

The goods: Burant, Swenson, Story (especially after the interview on thunderstruck ) and of course Davidoff ( anybody who can get out of a straight jacket and be high on life like that should be in action videos ). Powder boonin' shoot railing and some sled to sled comparo's. I like to know what sled and what is done to it shen you see it hit the hill. The bads: Ramp jumping, shthead attitudes, boring fillers, guys who cant narrate and country music.

We have some movies of the Powder Bound series on VHS and i know on the second one at the beginning there is at least 15 mins of straight helmet cam and boondocking in the pow... still has to be one of my favorite things to see in a movie, i want more helmet cam stuff. I also like to see boondocking in the tree's, and technical hillclimbs/chutes...

The one thing that I would like to see less of is talking helmets. It would be much better to see the persons actual face.

I like anything Burandt does. Anyone know if he has any segments in any new vidio? If so which one. Thats the one I'll get. I cant belive he hasnt made his own vidio yet.

Vertsports is a group of young guys in Alberta that are just getting into sledding videos. They have one Dvd out now and will have another soon. They have all original footage and show their crashes and other footage that isn't usually seen in the big name films.

I like those kinds of videos. It is also nice to see the big chute pulls in the MMM videos too.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

#1- Climbs (not hero snow)
#2- Boondocking through the trees (Burandt style)
#3- Some drops but not many.
#4- Carnage!
#5- No ramps but some natural jumps with an occassional backflip. (waiting for the double backflip)
#6- Great camera angles and editing. (Slednecks does a great job here)

DITTO!!

Yep!!!

Good topic.

I Just started sledding this year and got hooked big time. Bought an 08' Dragon mid-year. I also bought a bunch of sled-neck video's and was bored after the 1st 10 minutes of watching HUGE jump after HUGE jump.

I think the consensus in this thread is more real life riding. How come the sled video maker's dont get this? Or are they and im just buying the wrong companies vid's for what I like..... What vid's should I buy based on what I like below.

1. More sled sounds and background commentary (like you would hear on a youtube clip) with maybe a little background music dubbed in.

2. And then pretty much any natural hits or rides on blue bird deep powder days. Entire clips of challenging climbs, or boondocking - not the 5 second clip
It would be cool to see exactly where the pro riders limits are in deep pwoder and not just them conquering everything they hit.

:beer;

1.lotsa mod sleds and a few words about them(short!)
2.show-downs between sleds
3.climbing insane chutes and technical chutes
4.some boondocking/powder jumping
5.dont care much for ramp jumping, use the hills
6.some carnage, but hold the sentimental story
7.Davidoff is cool, but dont strech the scenes!! some things are only cool as quick peeks. same for the Ozone-guy
8.me, I wanna see the good old big-bore, the 950 twins and 1200 triples!
9.helmetcams onboard real fast sleds! TAPEX on 509!!!!!
10.and keep the hero-snow riding to a minimum, cool to see long wheelies and such but not "climbs" on hardpack.

Think that's it...

Edit: oh! and the narrative, keep it short and neat. get quickly to the next riding area and get on with it!

He wont be in sled head this year from what i saw, but i know he will be in Slednecks(which is a given) because a few Snowest members went out and rode with him when he was taping it!!!

I will agree with whoever said NO RAMPS!!! I hate watching that stuff, let see some boondocking and back country riding, which we all love!!!!

I think most people want to see the type of riding they do. Not too many people here doing ramp jumps. Most people love riding deep powder, and tree bashing. Boondockers 4 was awesome last year, because it had plenty of that. Also the soundtracks were awesome on that show. Love the 80's rock with snowmobiling. Endless winter was another great one. There should be plenty of deep powder videos this fall with the winter we just had.

I like thunderstruck movies and recently bought one called Danger Zone...Liked DZ because it showed the whole climb and the camera panned out to show you the complete path to the top. I also like movies that tell what sled you're watching. Getting tired of watching movies that show a little part of a move then, bam, on to the next clip. Watching these are what make all the movies seem alike...show more of the ride, don't be so chop happy.
