You can go thinner on the wall thickness if you like, should have rolled the chain case while you had it torn down to nothing, but never the less you took on a big project, so props to you for your ambition.

heres a pic of my tubie

what material is the skin on your tunnel?? also what do you have for cooling? it doesnt apear as you would have a u cooler with all those kinks in the tunnel

the tunnel skin is .060 aluminum, for now the u-cooler is a bulkhead cooler that I built the resembles a radiator flow pattern and a double pass cooler under the gas tank section. this year I am going to run a full length cooler, I'm going to have to miter each kink because of the angle instead of bending the extrusion like normal. you mentioned building full tubies next year, I would recommend only taking on one at a time, mine took 300 hrs to build and my wife almost committed me to the loony bin

yeah i thought it looked like thin aluminum. Yeah i am thinking i am going to do some kind of u cooler in the top of the tunnel. I know what you mean on building time. I probably have well over a 100 hours in this, spent a long 15 on it today with getting side tracked a few times to help a couple friends with things on their sleds. You know by any chance what yours weighs? it so awesome!

mine weights about 435, shes for sale if you want to save your self a lot of work, lol. we sell cooler extrusion if you need any.

how much for the extrusion, i know fabcraft has it but its like 17 bucks a foot which i cant afford as i am a poor college kid lol and i would love to buy it...if i had money and no school loans to pay off at then end of this school year

Hello, Is the square tubing on you tunnel chromoly? along with and what diameter wall thickness square tubing and round tubing did you use Or you would you recommend on a tunnel or chassis like yours?

Where do you recommend to where to but the materials?

If you would do it again what would you of done different on those spec?

That is one sick looking sled, Nice build.

Thanks, wildcard28

Awesome mod!!!

One thing I am curious about when people build tube tunnels is the planning part of it.

How much of a design did you have before you started? How many changes did or are you making?

Do you just wing it?

Thanks much and keep up the good work!

Looks solid dude. Good to see people keeping the wedge chassis alive and well! I definitely be keeping up to see how it comes out, but once again looks great so far!

If you are doing the bulkhead next year... would it be possible to build a shock tower that would allow you to run a different bellypan and have more of a shock travel??? One of the limiting factors of working with the wedge

Nice work so far!!!

PS... how much is that tube chassis with the xcr going for???

All of the tubing on mine is chromoly, I used 1/2 x 1 and 1/2 round and a bit of 5/8, all but the 5/8 is .032 wall. we have built several chassis with this tubing and they hold up very well, my sled went end over end 4 times last spring without any damage. the only changes I'm making is moving the steering back and a full length cooler.

More pics!!!!

well got alot done over this long weekend. Probably only spent 3 hours at my house other then at night sleeping. Rest was spent at the shop. Didn't even go to dinner with the rest of the fam for my moms birthday so i could get more done... didn't take nearly as many pics as i should have. Got the foot wells and dash areas all buttoned up. and the belly pan supports. Slapped the engine back in and put the pipes on and made a piece to collect the three pipes for an outlet. Began redoing my wiring harness. Put oil delete setup on the engine.
Still left:
tunnel cooler and additonal tubing in the top of the tunnel.
running board tubes.
tunnel skin
trailing arms (waiting on correct tube)
then taking it all back apart and cleaning everything up before final assembly
