why can't they rise from mankind?

because it is not natural for mankind to want to strap dynamite to his chest and drive a car into a group of people. But, when he is told that if he dies for his religion he will go to heaven, that all changes.

Is it man kind that wants to set up missionaries and tell the native people that what they do is wrong and wicked, while at the same time they claim to be the most "tolerant" religion?

an arguement that is about as useful as a parachute in outerspace.....wat do you believe?

what do i believe in regards to truth. i believe in objective truth or absolute truth. i dont and cant create that. i am a very limited being and am not capable of such sublime things. the wellspring and Author of Truth is God and he has revealed that in scripture or the bible. therefore, as the old divines penned, sola scriptura( by scripture alone) holds primacy in my life(not always or as good as i would like but in general if you will). just a little synopsis... i hope i answered your question.

I propose our weakest link to be those who choose not to follow their conscience (that little voice in your head telling you what you should do) and act in a manner detrimental to self and/or others.

i propose the weakest link is those who follow as they are told with no question. Only sheep need that sheppard....

now wait a second. what is horrible? if you go by what you said you believe than horrible cannot exist. that would in effect be admiting there is a right and a wrong.

i believe there is a right and wrong, and that is for me to decide, no one else needs to share my thoughts. That clear things up?

That is not the religion in it's true form. It has been twisted to suit the person or person's that are responsible for these crimes. Making them mankind's responsibility.
Isn't free will a b*tch

yes its clear. i just think you contradict yourself. you obvioulsly think that it is wrong for someone to strap a bomb on and blow himself and others up for the sake of religion. my problem is what if others say that it is ok. BIG dilemma in my mind. i guess what i am saying is that we cant be left to determine our own truth. it will not work. like i stated earlier chaos and anarchy will reign. alright thats it i promise. you get the last word.

you pose a great arguement. And i completley agree about how i contradicted myself. I guess i just think that harm to others isnt right, but like you said, who am i to judge?

If we are going to think that way our jobs can be a form of religion as well as government, the way we run our household, etc......

We are kidding ourselves to say that we don't judge. We just may not say it, but probably are thinking it

Papafinger - they do rise from men but it is the perversion of the belief and that the belief is absolutely true. I don't think God ever "told" someone to bomb clinics or the funeral procession in Afganistan yesterday. What I think is that people twist the guidance provided for them in their particular scripture it to something that justifies their actions. Those actions then being justified by scripture (in their minds) makes it holy and right.

Not to taking up for Cman, but don't ride his arse too hard when it comes to his business. Don't hate the player - hate the game! I'm not saying its right, I'm just saying I understand. Its always the other congressman or woman that is the POS, ours are always looking out for our best interests, right:rolleyes:.

huh? when we first brought this up i stated how i believe religion leads to bad things. Then you said thats a twist on religion. How does that relate back to our government being a religion? the government debates and trys to get wat other parties see fit. Western religion is a man saying what he thinks and having others follow, more like a dictatorship...

I completely understand but didn't you state earlier that most things are dictated by money....

I am not bagging on anyone. I am thoroughly enjoying this. Every man has the right to their own belief given by free will, and the right to voice it, the right given by man... By all means keep going. I love the opinions

here is a little read for those that think that when they get to hell it will be with all of their friends and will be one big party ...

"I don’t mind going to hell. All my friends will be there."

Obviously, those who flippantly say such things don’t believe in the biblical concept of hell. Their understanding of the nature of God is erroneous. The slow-witted criminal thinks that the electric chair is a place to put up his feet for a while and relax. It may be wise therefore to speak with him for a few moments about the reasonableness of a place called hell.

Reason with him by saying, "If a judge in Florida turns a blind eye to the un-lawful dealings of the Mafia, if he sees their murderous acts and deliberately turns the other way, is he a good or bad judge? He’s obviously corrupt, and should be brought to justice him-self. If he is a good judge, he will do everything within his power to bring those murderers to justice. He should make sure that they are justly punished.

"If Almighty God sees a man rape and strangle to death your sister or mother, do you think He should look the other way, or bring that murderer to justice? If He looks the other way, He’s corrupt and should be brought to justice Himself. It makes sense then, that if God is good, He will do everything in His power to ensure justice is done. The Bible tells us that He will punish murderers, and the place of punishment—the prison God will send them to—is a place called hell.

"God should punish murderers and rapists. However, God is so good, he will also punish thieves, liars, adulterers, fornicators, and blasphemers. He will even punish those who desired to murder and rape but never took the opportunity. He warns that if we hate someone, we commit murder in our hearts. If we lust, we commit adultery in the heart, etc."

Then take the time to tell him of the reality of hell. Sinners like to picture hell as a fun, hedonistic, pleasure-filled place where they can engage in all the sensual sins that are forbidden here. But Jesus said that it is a place of torment, where the worm never dies and the fire is never quenched (Matthew 9:45-47). We tend to forget what pain is like when we don’t have it. Can you begin to imagine how terrible it would be to be in agony, with no hope of relief? Many human beings go insane if they are merely isolated for a long time from other people. Imagine how terrible it would be if God merely withdrew all the things we hold so dear—friendship, love, color, light, peace, joy, laughter, and security. Hell isn’t just a place with an absence of God’s blessings, it is punishment for sin. It is literal torment, forever. That’s why the Bible warns that it is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

God has given His Law to convince men of their sins, and unless a sinner is convinced that he has sinned against God, he won’t see that hell is his eternal destiny. He may consider it a fit place for others, but not for himself. That’s why we mustn’t hesitate to open up the Law and show that each individual is personally responsible for sin, and that God’s wrath abides on him because of it. Ask him to consider why you would say such things to him if it wasn’t true. Tell him to examine your motives. You are so concerned for his eternal welfare that you are prepared to risk offending him.

Then ask him if he would sell an eye for a million dollars. Would he sell both for ten million? No one in his right mind would. Our eyes are precious to us. How much more then is our eternal soul worth? (For a biblical description of hell, see Revelation 1:18 footnote.)

theres something we can agree on:)

And my notions earlier about money were more intended that i find it a security in this world. And it does tie into both religion and government. Politicians are bribed, along with the people who work for them. And at one point i could pay the church to forgive my sins.
So, i can be as horrible of a son of a ***** as a i want, as long as i make money i can buy away my sins at the church.....
