and for that statement.....I hope that you are 100% right .....no doubt in your mind at all....
because ......what if ???? what if you are wrong ???
Sorry Mike, I have got to part ways with you here. What if cmantle1 is, right?
I was up very late one night with a friend talking about this very topic. He is an Evangelical guy. I asked him, "what if the Jew is right", in essence what if the messiah has yet to return. His response is that the Jew can't be right because it calls into question the belief of my church.
Its not that I don't think "your" particular beliefs aren't a useful guide book for a good life. I do think its a little pretentious to think the
words in "your" book are the only possible way for me to arrive in the afterlife.
Lets go with the premise that there is indeed a God. My view is that this omnipotent God has given me free will. That allows me the opportunity to seek answers to the questions I have about life and the hereafter. Answering these questions, leaves less room for doubt. Thats the kind of affirmation I desire.
What if my commandments number 613. Is a medicine man just a kook with a sack of tobacco. If I'm a non believer, is there really a devil? I'm not making light of anyones personal preference. I think that in the big scheme of things maybe the Lord knows that our pea-brain's are only capable of a certain amount of comprehension. It broken down into smaller pieces so everyone can enjoy the one they like best.
What I'm gettin at H2, maybe there is more than one superslab to the promised land. Does it really matter whether we arrive in a W900 from the north woods, a cornbinder from down south, a Hino from the east or dare I say a Marmon. The more important thing is that you choose to take up the journey.
Eh?
