Valemount - Mcbride 08/09

We are still working with ILMB and the Caribou Recovery Team on their proposed draft. It seems all Valemounts major sledding areas remain the same, although some of the very little known backcountry areas may now be closed for caribou as a part of a larger cell and VARDA is trying to work on corridors that still allow the adventerous to explore the backcountry( Thats what is all about isnt it ? )

We must keep educating the public to "remain in bounds" as we are very lucky not to have restrictions in Chappell and Allan Creek, as we know these are caribou areas. Valemounts Caribou Education Program(signage/brochures) and our full time Snowhost team have all added to the past years success with respect to area boundaries.

Valemount is ready, we just need snow !

So what are the best organizations to join to support snowmobiling in northern alberta. I bought memberships to a couple local clubs last year but would like to donate to anything that will help fight these friggan geenies that are bent on destroying sledding.

I know what your sayin... we take up such a little portion of the wilderness. Just not good enough for the treehuggers. They wont rest til there is no more sledding.

When is enough is enough and the govt finally put a end to it... these towns welcome us with open arms every fall and treat us so well. Good for the economy bad for the treehuggers?

I just wont to get out on the sled and hit the backcountry already!

im not sure what area's are closed around blue river, but i grew up in clearwater and for year's mike wigglie has been trying to close down raft mountain. we have been lucky so far but money talks and its only a matter of time until he tries again, and with a very small snowmobile club and lack of feed back from riders its not looking good. the skiers claim that many of these area's should be closed to protect the caribou but there hasent been a caribou on raft for years. these topics get me pi$$ed but at least im not the only one.

Little dustings on the mountain tops again. Although with blue bird skies, its not going to stick around long. Roughly a month and a half left !

my dads froms clearwater and went up there to visit him and rode raft. nice cabin and alright riding. snow was pretty set up but he said it was bottomless the weekend before. i never seen anything to do with any animals up there. wiggly is a long ways away from raft. hes got his own mountain right there and should want nothing to do with it. i think raft is cool beacuse there isnt many places that you can leave from your house and be climbing hills. cant wait for the snow to start flying around that area. have a good year.

Looks like both the N & S Dore are going to probably be designated Caribou Tenure! Which means one thing....CLOSED! Which is unfortunate because they are both great spots. Keith.

Just so you know caribou arent endangered! There are about 500,000+
north of the 60th paralell
The hippies ARE BULL****TIN YOU TO CLOSE DOWN AREAS!

If you mean as the trail is ending and the alpine is beginning, yes there is a large cliff on the right. It is closed for the skiers, thanks for asking, but why on earth would you want to go down there ? I dont think we would see you again !

A number of years ago during a white out a couple of guys coming out went over that cliff. One guy ok, the other guy not good.

More and more of the white stuff falling every day. Not long away now folks !

Heres a shot of the hills this morning and the new house up at Allan Creek
