Yes, everyone has a choice. I enjoy riding and find that I push myself more when I ride with the guys I ride with and they also help push me to do better.

Enjoy your riding this year!

hey GP, stop by the boondockers booth at the snow show this weekend, im hoping to have Jenn Berg there on saturday, it would be great to introduce you two! Then you could all go biking and sledding and we could capture it all on film!!!

Thanks, Phatty!!! You two better give me your autographs.:D

Just noticed this thread... nice work on gettin out there and trying to rally the ladies GP!!! YOU ROCK!! I also love the very silly, 'boys will be boy's' comments that took your thread all over the place... silly boys!! Sounds like you all have a fun crew down there... I also love that SH stuck up for ya!!

I'm workin on plans to come down this winter, you keep working on getting local Utah ladies involved... The point here (for you boys to pass along to your wives or GFs who ride) is to get chick representation so that we can get THEIR opinions on gear and mods and all sorts of good stuff!! So that we can have our little corner of the market. Right now there are the women out there who ride but 'they' (coollectively) don't have a loud enough voice to be heard above all you yammering men!! ;) This past year our numbers have SHOT up and more and more women are truely representing. Most of the ones who have sponsors are getting involved and not only riding hard but NETWORKING, and dragging in more and more laides to this sport, or even just dragging them outta the woods and onto a forum out out on rides with OTHER people so that it can be known they ride! (Like GP is tryin to do)

Anyway, GP, rocks, you Utah boys are lucky to have her. GP, you should def link up with Jenn at the snow show. We need more rocking footage of you both!! ;)

Ride on boys, but don't look back cause there might a rippin sled chick right on your arse!! ;)

Skadi, your awesome. Thanks for chiming in here and representing girls and all the other important topics that have came up on this thread.

Have to agree with Skadi, GP did a good job of trying to get more Utah ladies to come out of the woodwork. Her and I plan on hooking up this winter for some powder busting.

With that said, I have to agree with what some of the guys have said, most ladies here in Utah only ride with their hubbies/boyfriends. I know a few ladies from one of the clubs that ride but only with their hubbies. In the 2 years I have lived here I have not came across too many ladies on the hill.

T

Thanks C4F. I Can't wait to hook and ride with you this coming season. Hey I'm going to give you a call this evening. So we can hook up either Friday or Saturday at the show.

Sorry to poach here GP but since were on the subject I think group size needs to be addressed. 6 Tops on a aggressive mountain ride, that maybe 2 too many. Peace GP look for me at the show Id like to meet you.

No sorry needed. I like all the different topics and opinions in each and every thread. That's what it's all about. Well most the time anyway.

Hey Kevco. SH said you were watching our kids. What thaaaaa???

Sorry I can't write more. Being a mom, I get interrupted every two minutes. So this post is short and sweet.

SH, I HATE you, you and your already assembled, in a crate sled... Jerk!! HAHAhAHA, kiddin! Sometimes I wonder why I got going on this project. it's like a remodel, once you get in there you can't stop! I finally had to just say ENOUGH the other day and leave some things to do during the season or next summer. Skid, nope, not getting powder coated.. fancy paint job or graphics kit on the hood... nope, outta money... New Cat track, DEFINITELY outta money....

Oh well, she's still gonna rip, (I hope, I hope, I hope, I hope!! hehehehehe) and i SURE have learned a lot about wrenching during this project. I've also learned that no matter how much I DRAG my BF out into the shop to help me he WILL NOT get into this whole wrenching deal!! He's smart and capable but has NO interest in it!! So, I know how you guys feel who can't get your SOs interested in sledding or wrenching!!

Group size... Well, I think 6 is about right. 4 to 6. If you have a good group. No major egos, no super underskilled riders. it's ALWYAS nice to have enough people so that if you have to send someone for help they aren't riding alone andyou're not staying alone! So in my book you need at least 4, two to go out, two to stay in... Once we had to rebuild a steering column. We sent two guys out to get supplies and 5 of us stayed in to tear down the sled... then two more went out WITH the steering column and went to weld it, met the other two who took the steering column, and supplies back in... while three of us got a fire going and hunkered down in case the coming rain made it so the other group couldn't make it back in! They made it in JUST barely. If we hadn't been effient with time darkness and soft snow woulda meant a sled left in the backcountry!

I rode this winter with some people who would FREAK on the whole riding partner thing. YOU ALWAYS have ONE riding partner... I dunno. I'm more into groups and you all watch out for each other. Ya, maybe there is someone you keep a closer eye on but seriously, I'm pretty capable of keeping track of 4-5 guys.... We all have raidos and we all have a game plan for the day. Plus we're all pretty close... We never had issues with not wanting to keep track of each other!!

Any more than 6 (or the random 7 if you have an odd man out) and it's turning into a cluster F!! Split up and hit different areas anyway, who wants to play where everyone else is!?!?! Set a meeting point for a get together on the way out or for lunch or something if ya wanna be social!

Gp. My wife would love to ride with you and other women. When she is riding with just the guys she feels like a third wheel, when she is riding with other women that are better than her it gives here the confindence to go places she normally wouldnt. I need to get out of the habit of planning guy rides and guy/girl rides seperate from each other when i know that my wife can keep up with most of the guys i ride with. Hopefully rideing with more couples that have wives that LOVE riding will change that for me. It is very easy to plan rides that can accomodate all styles of riding in the same day. The way i see it any women that can handle a 60-70 mile day of hard (no trail) boondocking is welcome to ride with us anytime. BTW excellent post. And some very suprising responses.

756 there is not a thing wrong with your train of thought, I would love to see my daughter hook up with some girls with her skill level. She would be more comfortable with girls, now once her skill is to a level she wants it to be she has no shortage of confidence regardless of the group. If your wife hooks up with Terry she will be in very good hands she is a great person.

Sorry if any disrespect was taken! Definitely NOT intended.

Definitely not from this guy! lol ;)

These guys are great! I've ridden with them a few times and hope to again this winter! They ride hard.... a bunch of tree bouncin' fools! But also some of the most caring guys I've ever met. If I was to get in a sticky situation (again) I'd want them with me (again)!

CC, one of my favorite pics is of you standing in the snow, your back to me with 3 or 4 helix's hanging off your pack! :)

Ya, I hate myself too. I'll be into this sled at least 13K and next year it will be worth 7K. I'd honestly be riding my Rev again if Makaveli_rev wasn't climbing on my landing strip.Ha Ha
I hope you're short on cash cuz your saving it up for a Utah road trip. All you need is fuel to get here and we'll take care of the rest. That's no Sh!t. Get er done.

My wife rides but stays on or close to the trails, I would love to get her with some of the SW Ladies that can help her get out of her comfort zone.

Good on ya. Get er out with us. I guarantee we can keep her off the road and she'll have a riot. GP is stoked to get any ladies out and ride to promote the sport and make women realize they don't need to hang out in the kitchen and wait for their man to get home. Are you in Heber? Seems like that's what I recall.

Don't take me wrong. I love to kill it on the hill. We just know how to get people where they have the choice. I hope

Power to the pink cult!!! ;)

I think it is great to see more ladies getting into more aggressive backcountry riding.

SS,
Your custom pink klim helmet is in... along with pink coat and bibs. I will bring it to the show for you :D

I cannot remember the last time i rode in a group of less than 6... Anything under 10 people is good these days.

I personally only hesitate to bring people to certain places if i am uncomfortable with their avalanche, survival skills. Other than that we can always ride two up or ride a sled up and hike down or whatever. I have taken my sister into some crazy places and cant tell you how many times i have had to hike 1500 feet up a hill to dig her out. 100lbs on a sled can climb alot higher than 250 lbs... hahaha Ive always said girls can out highmark the boys any day of the week!

I hear ya Phatty, reminds me of a ride when we were trying to climb out of a bowl. I made a couple runs to feel it out and pack a track. I told Jeanette to give me a head start and stay in my track. Next thing I know she's flying past me in the fresh:eek: like I was standing still. So light weight and more track speed does wonders.:D

Now I hate both you AND your wife SH!!! Dern little girls!! ;) heheehehe...

Oh well, that's why the 860 is in the works!! There is only so much I can do with this frame o mine (not to mention my ability to jsut stop eating, non existant!)... but sled mods?!!? long as I keep my high payin job I can keep on moddin her out and keep up with those dern skinny minies!!! hahahahaha
