UPDATE: stuff stolen at Albany

so as a snowmobiler, if you find 3 boss seats and two nitrous bottles in the road ditch, you're not suspicious? So most of the wrecks you've seen they pick up all the shards of glass and busted plastic and leave the seats?

and nitrous bottles don't forget.............;)

unreal... so you dont want any help or what?
ya i guess i should be suspicious of every gas can, blanket, or any other article that is found on the side of the road...

nope but $500.00 dollar a piece seats and $200.00 plus bottles........aaaaa I SAY YES I WOULD BE............

I totally agree, take a trip up 130 or 230 in the summer, there are coolers, gas cans, all sorts of stuff that has fallin off of trucks and trailers during the summer/winter, and I'm sure if you took the time to look since the snow has melted, there is plenty of stuff laying in the barrow ditches or up against trees and fences. When I find stuff I post it and then keep or sell it, if nobody responds who's at fault IMO? Maybe some differant options should have been used in this case, but I know that AJ had no bad intentions on this matter, and he is trying to help out, so dont treat him like he's the thief!

agreed and I'm not accusing anyone...........

Good Thread hope this all works out for the best and they get the cawk sockers..... NOTHING I HATE WORSE THAN A THIEF......:mad:

its not up to me what happens, im tryin to help out... and have nothin to hide. sent an email to the guys that got the seats. i hope the case goes back on the dude they had pulled over cause i get the feeling that im gonna get the shaft on this crap and am stuck in the middle

All you have done is explain what has happened and tried to manufacture excuses and unrealistic scenarios in a meek attempt to justify your actions. Nowhere in this thread have you offered any assistance. You HAD to be suspicious of the fact that they were stolen. You can try and dream up every imaginary way that three $500 seats and two $200 nitrous bottles could have mystically flown off the sleds and landed into a pile in the ditch, but the truth of the matter is that it is NOT POSSIBLE! These aren't disposable blankets or $5 gas cans, they are fastened to the machines and seats do not just blow off of sleds. Being the avid snowmobiler, you are smarter than that. Your claimed efforts to determine if the seats were stolen was/is insufficient by any possible measurement.

You may not have been the original thief but you are now completely involved in this because you sold STOLEN PROPERTY. This isn't just going to go away. You need to gather all the property that you & your buddy found and return it to the rightful owners!

Agreed! He may not have stole them but there needs to be a VERY STRONG consideration for the people that had their stuff ripped off. I commend him for admitting that the stuff sold was in fact the items that had been stolen earlier this year but with that comes a responsibility. His new responsibility is to contact all who purchased the stuff and GET IT BACK TO THE OWNERS!

You have a point unfortuantly if you sell or steal stolen parts you may still be at fault  Even if you didnt know the stuff was stolen.

The fault placed upon AJ is from:
1) He did not properly perform a search to see if the items were in fact lost or if they were stolen! He should have been suspicious FROM THE START. Based upon his explanation of how he kinda "looked around on snowest" is not adaquate. At the minimum, the local law authorities should have been contacted. They would then had searched their records to see that there was in fact a theft of these items and that they were STOLEN. He didn't want to check too much because he knew that he would have discoverd that the were stolen.
2) He's trying to claim "it's out of my hands". Ahhhh no! He now knows that they were stolen and that selling them was the wrong thing to do. Again, I commend him for fessing up but now it's time to UNDO the part of the damage he caused by selling them. Get them back to their rightful owners!

First off...I am going to vouge for AJ! He is a stand up guy and honestly doesnt need the phuggin money out these seats. I dont know the whole story and frankly dont care at this point. If Mini had anything to do with this that was not on the level do you REALLY think he would be making public posts?

Hind site is always better they say so instead of refelcting on what coulda been done AJ is offering to help with what can be done.

Then get his buddy to send the money back to the guys who bought the stolen seats he!! i will stand the freight if it will make our sleds safer in the mountains:beer;:beer;

Hey Mr. I'm trying to help out, I happen to KNOW that the owner of the seats called you a couple times and even left you a voice mail.... I know he's also PMed you as well to no avail...You say you are trying to help, and people are saying you are a stand up guy... Here's your chance to prove it, refund all the money that was paid for the seats, including shipping.

I never once said you were a bad guy and I know you PMed at least one of the people that bought a seat. He's more than willing to send back that seat for a full refund plus shipping. It's been said on here that you aren't hard up for money so I have come to the conclusion that if you were a 'stand up guy' you would have no problem doing this.

You guys just don't get it.
The amount of stuff that falls off trailers and such is unreal.
You would be totally amazed at the stuff people will set on bumpers, fenders, tailgates, tops of open trailers and such and then just drive off.

I chased a guy for 30 miles trying to give him his klim jacket back. He thought I was messing with him and wouldn't stop. I almost kept the dam thing out of frustration. Figured maybe the guy would learn some manners.

Minnie is a stand up guy, if he called the cops everything he found something nice beside the road they would arrest him for harrasment.

I have seen custom hoods (or at least what was left of them), shoot, I saw an entire sled in the ditch at one point. It wasn't tied down and simply fell of the back of the trailer. I had stopped to see what was going on when the owner came back. He had gotten all the way up the greenrock before he realized he lost the sled just outside laramie.

As for the actual items in question.
Believe it or not, most of the people that go to the snowies, arn't on snowest and the chances of getting the stuff back to the original owner is remote and how much time do you actually spend trying to do it after the items have sat for a few months.

i seen a hwy dept picking up a rear skid this spring that was laying in the ditch..but all three seats where close by each other it would get me thinking.

so y is it aj job to call the cops when some other person found the stuff? he was just helping out a buddy its the buddy you should b talking to not being a$$ holes to Aj. i also had $2000 of stuff taken out of my truck this year it sucks but you learn to lock stuff up. you cant trust anything or any buddy any more.

well just an fyi to all who are concerned: my phone is not working real well right now, probably need a new one. so sorry i didnt get the phone calls. i did however get in touch with the sheriff that did your case and its out of my hands now... money is being refunded and the seat are probably being collected by the sheriffs office.
holy cow, i apoligize that i have a full time job and cant drop everything im doin just to acomidate what all your opinions on the right thing to do at this very second! kiss my a$$ to all who are not directly involved with whats going on! good decision or not to sell something that was found, never had any bad intention
this is all i have to say about the situation...
