Amber will be posting soon, for some reason the site is very slow in the evening and she is having a problem loading the post. Budd

AAAH where is the rest!!! lol i know that she is out but i just read every post in this thread!!!! Amazing, i am diggin the detailed description of an amazing build!!!

can't wait to see the rest of the build!!!

Just so I am understanding this...you are purpose building this sled to climb the chute that Rob C stuck his TApex in last spring? I didn't think there was a way out from up top, other than ride on down to Montana or to come back down the chute.

I'm pulling for you, its going to be an epic showdown for sure.

Not the chute Rob climbed, its the big one to the right of the one Rob climbed, and there is a way back down. Conditions would have to be close to perfect. There are many reasons for Ambers project sled, chute climbing is just one of them. Thanks, Budd

First let me apologize for the laps in post. I was having an ‘error code’ issue & it would not allow me back on to this thread to post. I want to thank Mountainhorse for taking care of the problem.

Rear Suspension:

Three seasons ago I installed one of the first prototype Mountain Tamer’s ever built in production from Timbersled Products on my previous M1000. So when I decided to do this build I wanted go with what I knew was reliable and worked the best for the terrain I intend to ride with this sled. The Mountain Tamer has evolved greatly since that first prototype.

First Budd installed the black Polaris Hi-Fax on 156 Timbersled custom made slide rails.

When securing the cross shafts we installed Black Diamond Xtreme’s anti stab kit. This SIMPLE and ECONOMICAL mod can save you injury and an extreme amount of unwanted expense! The purpose of this mod is avoiding the possibility of the track window being speared by the rail beam end when the track is in ballooning configuration scenario, resulting in a torn track and catapulting the rider into a serious injury situation. This can happen even with properly adjusted track tension.

The Fox Float Air Shocks with updated valving and new high flow pistons were installed on the 7/8” Diameter 7075 Aluminum shock cross shafts. (7075 is a high strength alloy ) There is an optional rear arm shock available as well. This is the Float X Shock which provides compression and rebound dampening adjustments.

The upper cross tube and shaft were updated to a 1 ¼” upper cross tube with a 1” 7075 Aluminum shaft. The shaft ends are now tapered with a snap ring to retain the upper idler wheel. The purpose of this was to increase arm strength.

Another update to the rear arm is the triple hard anodized slide T’s, which are made in house at Timbersled.

Dual limiter straps were also a 2010 update on the new Mountain Tamer with added hole adjustments.
We also installed Black Diamond Xtreme’s two wheel kit which helps with snow evacuation from the suspension.
The entire Timbersled rear suspension assembly with ice scratchers installed weighs 36.5 lbs!

The suspension was then installed and complimented the Camoplast 156 Challenger Extreme nicely.

So I think you're going to need some extra idler wheels if you decide on a turbo motor. I have a similiar sled, only faster ;). Without the wheels you will be replacing the hyfax every other ride.

The Timbersled rails are drilled for ice scratchers, just haven't put them on yet. We have run the ice scratcher/no wheel configuration for a number of years now with real good results. Thank You, Budd

Looking good Mini.....can't wait to get out west again and see you ride that.
