** Turny Updates **

Just got back about 6-8 of new snow, everything on the front is tracked up and the backside was a little windblown but not bad, there was plenty of nice snow to play in.

Rode to the top but, didnt drop in. Snow on the front side is tracked up really good and you can find some 6"-8" of fluff in some spots like mentioned above. Seemed to get better the higher you got. Needs some more snow!

Anyone ride today? Im headin down in the morning but dont know how long we'll last with the -20 weather.

Any one been up there in the last couple days. I might go with the family, probably wont go over the top. Anyone know if it is worth it to ride the front side in sub zero temps LOL.

Was there yesterday and was deffinitly not worth it. It was -14 in the parking lot and all the snow was pretty well tracked up, we didnt venture to the otherside though. We had white spots on our faces when we got back to the parking lot.

Rode Turny on our way back from Seward, super cold, tracked up and there was maybe 3 other groups riding there that day. Went up and over, what a highway that way coming down. Blue Bird all day and still nice to get out and ride =)

Will be there in the morning, m7 and yellow and black rev. 6 degrees in Portage right now so hopefully it wont be to bad tomorow.

Rode turnagain over the weekend. Both days were decent. Visibility was far better on Sunday. Trail to the back side was getting close to being an ice chute. Let's try to watch that track spin fellow riders. Anyway it's worth the trip as long as you ride the back side in the first and second bowls. Might be making another trip down on thursday. If anyone wants to go I have one spot on the trailer. Hit me up.

Rode turny today. Got there about 10am and left about noon. There was about four inches of fresh when we got there. When we left there it snowed another 2 to 3 inches. IT was DUMPING and white out. 31 degrees at the parking lot.

New snow

Wife drove to anc. from the penninsula today, said it was blizzarding in the pass at about 1:00 pm so wet snow, 33 deg but lots better than rain:D:D

Guys, if you do go to turny this weekend, please realize that the avy dangers in going to be off the hook. This is anywhere around south central right now, not just turny. Use your heads, somebody is wanting you to come back home alive!

AVALANCHE AND SNOWPACK DISCUSSION
Avalanche conditions will remain very dangerous today. Traveling in avalanche terrain is not recommended. This includes lower angle slopes and flat terrain under avalanche paths.

I considered dropping the avalanche danger to considerable today but had my hesitations. Either way you slice it we are in it. With increasing winds and temperatures and strong precip on it's way the avalanche danger will remain high today. Human and natural avalanches are likely today.

We are in the middle of the largest avalanche and storm cycle of the year. AK DOT, AKRR, and Alyeska have all been getting results from control work. Although some of the historic avalanche paths have not gone as large as I expected, another round of storms tonight will test them. Large 2-4 foot wind slabs are present near alpine ridges. Winds over 100 mph have striped some aspects of all snow and deposited it on leeward aspects. Matt and Ben reported 20 inches of storm snow at 1800 ft in Turnagain Pass yesterday. The snow line fluctuated around 2000 ft. Rain reached up to this level and cursed us with a rain crust mid storm snow up to ~2000 ft.

We will be watching this evenings weather very closely, to see what mother nature deals us.
