Turned oiler up whoop whoop

I was told to be careful to not bend the tab when adjusting the set screw. By looking at it, even if you bend it a little, it would only add that much more oil...???... I was also told that if you adjust it too far, that it swings the oil pump back to the start..... That sounded very weird to me, any knowledge-able input would be appreciated.

Just turned up our 600 pro rmk, 4.5 turns in (almost as far as possible) rode it and we not have 38:1 perfect ! I suspect it must have been 100:1 stock, good lord

oil

I checked mine with 51 miles on it last week and it was 57:1. I turned the pump up 3 turns as suggested in the video. I went out this weekend and checked it after turning it up and it's now 32:1 with the 3 turns. I think it still doesn't use as much as my RMK 900 does but I'll leave it where it is for now.

Turned my '12 RMK 800 up 3 turns before the start of the season. So far, after two mountain rides and checking it after each one, I'm right around 40:1, which is right on as far as I'm concerned. I did have to change my old plugs out to new BPR9-EIX after a bog developed on the bottom. That fixed the bog and the new plugs look great after a day on the mountain.

The previous oil usage was insanely low. I can't think it was good for the engine. My only regret was not doing it sooner. It was much easier than I anticipated.

Yea, I'm glad I did mine right from the start. It only went 51 miles from new before I turned it up and I was going pretty easy on it for break in.

I did forget to mention that the only thing I removed to do this was the right hand side cover. I didn't even remove the can. I just used two extentions and a nuckle, all 1/4" drive and that was pretty easy. Just have to make sure you have enough light to see. I was done in less than 5 minutes tops!

I agree about the usage before turning it up though. I rode the entire 51 miles and you could barely see that it had gone down at all. My RMK 900 would have gone down an inch or 2.

Not to beat a dead horse but quick math on my 14 assault and it was near 70:1
I checked with the dealer on what they recommend and they said 50:1. After voicing my concerns of voiding my warranty from turning the pump up they said they would deal with it. Bringing it by the dealer today and they said they will turn it up.

It's amazing to me to see how all over the place the oil settings are on these sleds. I'm guessing no one is checking the pumps at the factory? My 14 Assault has been 47:1 for the first 3 rides. I see no need to touch the pump at this ratio.

Different riding styles will use different amounts of oil.

Mine was under its first year warranty until 1/3. On 1/4 I turned up the oiler three turns.

It SHOULD NOT be an issue with the warranty but anybody who has relied on a Polaris warranty KNOWS, they will look for any reason to not pay.

just got done checking my 2014 800, I turned it up 3.5 turns right off the bat and its now 38-1 so good to go :face-icon-small-coo.....must have been 80-1 stock or more :face-icon-small-con:face-icon-small-sho:face-icon-small-dis:mmph:

Just another thought here, why not just add oil to fuel when you fill up the sled at 100/1 or 80/1? One US Gallon = 1.28 oz of oil at 100/1. I plan on doing this at least until I do a new top end, sled runs well and it is piece of mind knowing that factory oiler setup ratios are suspect.

Oil pumps are set by OEM using notch on lever and scribe on pump. FWIW.
Then the dealer on set up must have adjusted mine to the lean side. I had to adjust mine quite a ways to get the notch and scribe to line up....

Add all the oil you want to the fuel, but don't expect it to touch the bottom end... Increasing the flow through the pump is the only way to get more oil into the bottom end.

Most of the failures on these motors are top end failures. Adding oil to the fuel will help with this.

That said, I turned mine up three turns and stopped adding oil to the gas.
