Turned oiler up whoop whoop

Used this to turn up my oiler. Hood off + 5 minutes. Wow so easy. Did 2.5 turns. Thanks to the bikeman video.

I did the same, 18" x 1/4" extension, 5/16 swivel socket. Once the jam nut is loose you do not need a very long screw driver, you will be able to get to it pretty easy. Like the above post says less then 5 min.

hey

do you have a link to this video? would be appreciated ! and also do you think turning up the oiler is a must? thanks guys

hey

Thanks for link, just curious tho is it a must turning up the oiler? ive been running pipe and programmer since new, so fuel map is already adding more? so worth turning it up a few?

Yes turn it up, you're programmer is adding fuel not oil.

Is anybody calculating the ratios on these things or turning up the pump just because?
I just picked up a low mile 13. I have not ridden it yet but judging by the large amount of smoke every time I start it, it's getting a fair amount of oil!

Yes, some are calculating. And most are just turning up to be safe. What the exact amount of turns seems to have a few variables. You will still need to adjust probably another time to fine tune amount of flow. There are many ways to get to the "nut" just remove can, then use a small 1/4 drive with a knuckle/extension with socket and a small flat head to turn screw. Done

my set screw was practically glued to the jam nut :(
had to get in there. removing all that crap sucked. I went 4 turns. I'll see if I am fouling any plugs on the break in ride.

My 11 was +55:1 as delivered. Turned it up to ~35:1, depending on how I ride. Yes, some people do check it, not hard to do with a marker and a measuring cup. Moving metal parts like lubrication.

Smoke at start up is not a good indicator of adequate oil use, it's from a cold chamber and pipe.

How many turns did you make to get 35:1?

About five turns on an 11, screw was almost flush with the lock nut. It does differ from sled to sled. A better static measure is where the scribe mark and lever notch line up with the throttle plates closed. Mine is ~15 degrees past the scribe, eyeballing it with a mirror and light. It certainly uses substantially more oil for the way I ride it, which is what I wanted. It's mine, I decided to turn it up, and by how much. Regardless of the arguments saying it doesn't make a difference on consumption, or can use even less, unless the oil is evaporating or leaking invisibly, more oil is being injected into the motor. FWIW, I did put 1100 on the stock pistons, with no scuffs, and 1300 on a kit, with no failure, haven't pulled the kit pistons, but have had the head and pipe off, and they look very good. When I swapped pistons in 12, pistons were still in spec, but just barely, and bores were in spec. Rings were okay. I did warm it up religiously before pushing and pinning.

Why would you change the oil pump settings unless they were out of spec?

50:1 has been widely accepted for ever.. Even on race engines. Simply measure your oil usage compared to fuel usage.

More oil to the crank bearings. Poo is setting the oil pump to keep the EPA happy, not us sled owners.

I turned mine up the popular 3 turns. These 2 strokes like around 32 to 40:1, the EPA doesn't like this.
