Turbo VS. Carls Cycle big bore

complete top end, they use stock case ported for the 900 cylinders. New Y pipe. No control box, just a new feul map, as far as reeds they recommend the carbon tech, which go in stock cages. Look at the 860 kit, on there web page, it should be preaty much the same structure, just with bigger cylinders LOL. Carl's has not yet let lose of the prodution yet, they are still fine tuneing on the feul mapping. Jack was not able to get enough time last winter on the motor they have running at this time. they are telling me around the first of the yr. just depends when they can get back on the snow to finsh.

I ran a Carls Cycle Turbo Pro all last season and I wouldnt trade it for anything. After the initial programming from BD was figured out, it was spot on. And now this year with the intercooler and injectors, it will be even that much better. Chris at Carls said that with the new set-up, it will handle their 900 kit without a problem. As far as boondocking, vs. point and shoot....well, thats what I like about the turbo. It does both with ease. Go watch a Chris Burandt video.....that will prove my point. Actually, I love boondocking with it. And lastly, the statement regarding a turbo having more things to worry about failing; well......maybe in the past, but other than reeds, I didnt change a thing or have any failures related to the turbo itself. I dont know a single person that boosted a Pro and regretted it. The only thing I can say regrading this issue is that you need to ask yourself if you honestly think you will use the power. If so, dont think twice. However, if you are more of a conservative rider that doesnt need to put their sled in "predicaments" or on the biggest hills, then I would just throw a SLP single on it with Carls clutching and ride the hell out of it. :)

Thats good to hear about the turbo and the 900. How many miles did you put on your turbo pro last yr?

Turbo the the 900 would be impresive for sure :plane: .. That would imquire the intercooler correct? Or could you just have a pump gas set up for around 8lbs. ?
My thoughts on the turbo and boondocking where on the lines of not that they can't or don't do it well, more along the lines of the practicality of a turbo for us common riders. Becuase 99% of us can't ride in the trees at the speed that Chris does. So why have one, stick with stock mods, or the big bore.

From what Jack has told me, the intercooler is not necessarily a must, but it does lower charge tube temps, is easier on reeds, and produces more power. And, allows you to run more boost. I ran mine at 9-9.5lbs last year and I was hapy, but running closer to 11-12lbs will be nice this year. One thing I do want to clarify....the Big Bore will be smoother on the bottm and have better throttle response; I dont doubt that at all. And I am sure it will make real good power. As soon as I ride one I will report back :)

Im in hopes they will be ready to start putting them into sleds by the first of the yr. I hope we get early snow so jack and chris can get his on the snow, so to get things finalized.

Are you selling your 11, and getting a new pro?

No, going to run her one more year. Taking it up to Carls here in the next few weeks to have it gone over and get the turbo update kit installed with the intercooler.

AO have you talked with jack latley on any progress on his 9? I need to make a trip over there just have not had the time yet.

Really what to keep this tread going, I have a turbo nitro right now but looking at going back to the 2stroke world. I really don't want to go backwards in hp but don't really want to be messing with much so leaning towards bb but want more info and people's input

I have Jack's new Pro900 big bore.
Its AWESOME...instant throttle, great power...
Gas, oil and Ride!
Great boondocking, tree running sled...

I believe the 'kits' are ready. BUT I would call Jack or Chris to find out.
I know of a few that are out running.
Sure a Turbo will out do a NA...But I didn't want a turbo...
Big bore - simpler, less head aches and lighter...
