I'm going to be nice and assume you really don't know. It is in our national interest and your's too that we maintain stability and a presence in the mideast based on our oil consumption. Blood for oil? Damn skippy and if you don't understand, agree, or believe we should not protect that interest, then sell your car and your sled and hoof it. I stand by my assertion that 90% of the voting public are not qualified to even participate.

I do know, and us being in the Middle East does nothing but hurt the stability. How would you feel if say Russia or China came into say Montana and decided they wanted to mine, take what they wanted. While they were there, they build a HUGE embassy housing some 3,000 of THEIR citizens, and down the road they placed a large military base that had 20,000 troops stationed there. These troops then drive around doing what they want. Then they decide that our lifestyle and Western way of life needs to be changed, so they push their Eastern political agenda and lifestyle on us. Then they decide to get involved in our civil war and while doing so drop bombs in our towns, and one day you find out that your ENTIRE family was killed by one of their bombs, but it was an accident so it is okay. Wouldn't you hate us as well? I would.

I love this country as much as the next guy, but to think we can just go into any country and press a democracy onto a country and tell them what is best for them is crazy. If we backed out of these countries we would not have as many problems. Foreign policy needs some major work.
(flame suite on, I am sure many will think we should just do what we want because we can). YES, I realize that this country operates on oil, and without oil our military would be worthless, but there are several other approaches we can take to this problem.

no no no.... that is not right at all... there are no other ways beside the way we are doing things, and the way things have been done in the past...

Besides, how are we supposed to keep the defense industry booming without wars?

This has got to be the worst analogy I have ever heard in my lifetime!
Comparing Iraq to Montana.....First, for this analogy to work, the governor of Montana would have to be a evil dictator that has killed many Montanans, and allows evil Idahoans into there state to create the Montanaban.....
To think that every argument you people come up with reverts back to oil, just shows your ignorance....

Do you know how many dictators or government leaders who killed MANY of their own people whom we either watched and did nothing or even assisted by providing military support or weapons? cough... Africa.

If when we went into Iraq they had said they were going in there to put Saddam on trial for crimes against humanity that would be one thing but their reasoning was for the "weapons of mass destruction", of which we basically found ZERO.

Your response clearly shows me that your pea brain is not capable of understanding my point, for you didn't reply to the real juice in my comment.

red dot this you weenie!!!. your boy can't keep his word and he is not even hired yet! in my eyes our country failed us by electing him just to try something new......completely blind. just wait till the day Obama says anything against drilling, exploration.....anything oil related, watch what happens. you go boy ride your pretty pony, while your new guy puts bandaids on bulletholes.

for those confused, I got slammed with the reds for my avtar. I like it and it stays.

Your avatar is one of my faves. Leave it. More green rep for you. :D:D

first off milehigh....we are not 'taking' their oil....if we were gas would be a lot less than it is. second iraqis love the US being over there....the iraqi troops consider it an honor being able to be trained and fight alongside US troops. We do have interest in iraq and yes it maybe oil but we are not taking it. To think that is just plain ignorant in itself.

Yha, I'd have to agree with JSCC. Your argument is stupid, and your rebutt, even worse.

So, did Montana Invade it's neighbor? Did Montana gas it's civilians? Would Montana's openly welcome Chinese as liberators, and celebrate in the streets, because it's dictator is dead. Did Montana violate every United Nations proclamation handed it? Would Montana ask the Chinese to stay a little longer, because they weren't ready to govern themselves? Please provide a list of ex-Montana's living in exile, that are feeding the Chinese a long list of promises, and false data about weapons of mass destruction, and promises about the outcome of a Montana invasion. Has Montana ever had a secret nuclear program? Has Montana ever possessed chemical and biological bomb? Did Montana threaten China, with nukes? Did Montana meet with Terrorist? Would Montana's hang their dictator? Once China invades Montana, are South Dakota, and Washington state people going to sneak into Montana and try to start a civil war, and put on suicide vests?

If you haven't noticed Bush threatened to pull out, and Iraq pulled an agreement out of their azz. Personally, it would have been fine with me, if they'd have asked us to leave. Just move down south, and watch the civil war explode. We broke it, so we have to fix it. You think people are dying now, just see what happens if we turn tail and run.

You want to be in charge of figuring out who we should work with, and who we shouldn't. Bet you find it difficult to pick a clean third world leader, to back. Bet no matter what you did, someone would be on the internet second guessing you with hindsight, instead of foresight..........

Wow, don't even know where to start. Your analogy is just weird. And btw, we don't get any of their oil, and only libs hate us: Iraqi's as a people and nation are very grateful. They might struggle with the current situation, but dare say, they wouldn't go back. Seriously, don't you think having freedom after decades of not, would be a little difficult to handle?? Lord, we are an impatient bunch. And Montana..??:rolleyes:

You had no point, so you are correct in thinking my pea brain was not capable of understanding.
Africa, are you kidding really? Another great analogy.......

Hmm, and I thought that putting a pro-western democracy to separate Iran and Syria would be a move that would pay benefits years to come if it works. I also thought that installing a democracy was a very brave move when we could have shoved another pro US strong man down theirr throats...like we usually do...and fail. But I guess I am myopic...

you have got to love the freedom to speak your piece. it sure is nice to be able to make comments that are not popular and not get shot or stoned to death for it. as much as we all have different views we all share that same freedom. be very sure to never forget that. hopefully the more oppressed nations of the world will have the same opportunity that we take for granted. it is quite easy for us to sit in a nice warm house and walk around town without getting shot or blown up, those things happen daily in some areas of the world. we get caught up whining about the way our leaders are tossing our money away, yet we still have the highest class of life right here in the us. I sure don't condone every move big brother makes, but I feel as an american my job is to support it, or fight it. whining about it is neither.

the thoughts on africa, I am far from versed on the politics of africa, heck I am barely in the loop in my own country, but I can't understand how the countrys can be so hungry when there is an abundance of game.

I originally made this post because some sissy bedwetter did not have the clackers to debate the "messiah" I have recieved a massive amount of rep comments and atleast 5 to 1 in favor of the way I roll. funny, still for the neg reps I get not one has had the sack to debate, leave their name.....just a little "obama will save us" crap and off....fair enough, I just hoped to get enlightened....apparently when obama programed his desciples he forgot to teach them the powers of inteligent thinking.

merry christmas to all, sorry about your luck if that offends you. I will be the last guy standing that will say merry christmas, god and repremand my child for doing wrong. I refuse to get sucked into where liberal america is going. I hope my children appreciate that some day.

You ever wonder if someone is doing it just to screw with you, and that the person leaving the rep doesn't truly believe that?.... Something to consider....

sure, there are the "obama for life" dorks, but some have actually left responses that would be worth debating. I figure in a few months the sissy bed wetters can band together and speak up.....then, I can learn how to see through my belly button after I ram my head up my own arse so as to see things from their perspective.:D

i love the avatar---we'll see how many on here admit voting for obama in a couple years--i didnt vote for him

The messiah is vacationing in Hawaii. He'll pick up your bar tab, if you don't print anything mean about him. :)

The office of the President Elect, must be taking this week off. :)

That is like saying communism would work in the United States. "WESTERN" Democracy will never work in those countries.

Did Iraq gas it's civilians? Yup, with the gas and Anthrax that the United States provided them with in the 80's.

I am not trying to argue that Saddam was a nice guy. I am saying that there are TONS of countries in the world where crimes of humanity have taken place and STILL are taking place and we haven't set one foot in these places. Why is that?

Iraq had NO NUCLEAR weapons and no capability of having them within the decade.

Iraq did not meet with any terrorists. If you had a clue of how that country worked and Saddam's philosophy.

Al quada was NEVER in Iraq until the United State went in as an occupying force. We created a breeding ground there for them. Again, if I were to "accidentally" kill your ENTIRE family with a bomb that hit your child's school, would you be mad? Would you want revenge? I bet you would. How would you get your revenge. Maybe strap yourself with C4 and take it out on the foreign country that is living in your neighborhood?

THAT IS THE POINT YOU ARE MISSING.

Iraq has already asked us to leave.

Leaving the country is not turning tail. Why is it up to the U.S. to sort out their WAR? Why are we there? Why are we spending BILLIONS actually Trillions of OUR money for them? They have a SURPLUS budget. This has been going on for a long time, they have been at war since the fall of the Ottoman Empire. We are just another player that all sides hate.

You want to be in charge of figuring out who we should work with, and who we shouldn't. Bet you find it difficult to pick a clean third world leader, to back. Bet no matter what you did, someone would be on the internet second guessing you with hindsight, instead of foresight..........

I don't want anything to do with making the decisions. I do know what we are doing now is not working. We are not protecting AMERICAN freedom. We were never attacked by Iraq, we should be focusing this attention in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Did Iraq gas it's civilians? Yup, with the gas and Anthrax that the United States provided them with in the 80's.

The US provided the University of Baghdad 36 strains of Anthrax, a sample of the Vollum Anthrax strain was include. They were provided by the ATCC [American Type Culture Collection in Maryland] This was around 1987. Saddam, cultivated it, and made it into a weapon. They provide these strains to lots of governments, and private companies, to develop defenses against them. It's possible someone provided Iraq these, knowingly to make weapons. The kit cost $35.

I am not trying to argue that Saddam was a nice guy. I am saying that there are TONS of countries in the world where crimes of humanity have taken place and STILL are taking place and we haven't set one foot in these places. Why is that?

Name a couple, you might be surprised how many countries the USA, and the USA through NATO and/or UN, we have been in.

Iraq had NO NUCLEAR weapons and no capability of having them within the decade.

Really? Saddam's 550 Tons of Yellowcake.

Iraq did not meet with any terrorists. If you had a clue of how that country worked and Saddam's philosophy.

Really? Meeting Documents

I believe the source of many of the suicide bombers, are other countries. Not natives of Iraq. Country of Origin, Suicide Bombers Please take time to get the facts. This isn't about revenge, it's about poverty, and religious extremism. The positive note here, is that they are not in the United States, on tourist vistas.

Yes, then they asked us to stay, then they extended it. Oh, read the agreement, Article 4, Paragraph 1. Enough said. http://www.whitehouse.gov/infocus/iraq/SE_SOFA.pdf

Oh, and because we actually want to stabilize the middle east, and we broke it, and it's the right thing to do now, even if the Europeans don't agree.

We were never attacked by Iraq, we should be focusing this attention in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Now, I won't disagree with you on that.

Do you believe the stuff you write Lane? It's so Bush hating talking points right down to the punctuation. I'm too bored and tired of the whole debate to break down your arguments. It would be easy but seriously...
