I'm going to be nice and assume you really don't know. It is in our national interest and your's too that we maintain stability and a presence in the mideast based on our oil consumption. Blood for oil? Damn skippy and if you don't understand, agree, or believe we should not protect that interest, then sell your car and your sled and hoof it. I stand by my assertion that 90% of the voting public are not qualified to even participate.
YES, I realize that this country operates on oil, and without oil our military would be worthless, but there are several other approaches we can take to this problem.
I do know, and us being in the Middle East does nothing but hurt the stability. How would you feel if say Russia or China came into say Montana and decided they wanted to mine, take what they wanted. While they were there, they build a HUGE embassy housing some 3,000 of THEIR citizens, and down the road they placed a large military base that had 20,000 troops stationed there. These troops then drive around doing what they want. Then they decide that our lifestyle and Western way of life needs to be changed, so they push their Eastern political agenda and lifestyle on us. Then they decide to get involved in our civil war and while doing so drop bombs in our towns, and one day you find out that your ENTIRE family was killed by one of their bombs, but it was an accident so it is okay. Wouldn't you hate us as well? I would.
I love this country as much as the next guy, but to think we can just go into any country and press a democracy onto a country and tell them what is best for them is crazy. If we backed out of these countries we would not have as many problems. Foreign policy needs some major work.
(flame suite on, I am sure many will think we should just do what we want because we can). YES, I realize that this country operates on oil, and without oil our military would be worthless, but there are several other approaches we can take to this problem.
This has got to be the worst analogy I have ever heard in my lifetime!
Comparing Iraq to Montana.....First, for this analogy to work, the governor of Montana would have to be a evil dictator that has killed many Montanans, and allows evil Idahoans into there state to create the Montanaban.....
To think that every argument you people come up with reverts back to oil, just shows your ignorance....
red dot this you weenie!!!. your boy can't keep his word and he is not even hired yet! in my eyes our country failed us by electing him just to try something new......completely blind. just wait till the day Obama says anything against drilling, exploration.....anything oil related, watch what happens. you go boy ride your pretty pony, while your new guy puts bandaids on bulletholes.
for those confused, I got slammed with the reds for my avtar. I like it and it stays.

Do you know how many dictators or government leaders who killed MANY of their own people whom we either watched and did nothing or even assisted by providing military support or weapons? cough... Africa.
If when we went into Iraq they had said they were going in there to put Saddam on trial for crimes against humanity that would be one thing but their reasoning was for the "weapons of mass destruction", of which we basically found ZERO.
Your response clearly shows me that your pea brain is not capable of understanding my point, for you didn't reply to the real juice in my comment.
still for the neg reps I get not one has had the sack to debate, leave their name.....just a little "obama will save us" crap and off...
Hmm, and I thought that putting a pro-western democracy to separate Iran and Syria would be a move that would pay benefits years to come if it works. I also thought that installing a democracy was a very brave move when we could have shoved another pro US strong man down theirr throats...like we usually do...and fail. But I guess I am myopic...
Yha, I'd have to agree with JSCC. Your argument is stupid, and your rebutt, even worse.
So, did Montana Invade it's neighbor? Did Montana gas it's civilians? Would Montana's openly welcome Chinese as liberators, and celebrate in the streets, because it's dictator is dead. Did Montana violate every United Nations proclamation handed it? Would Montana ask the Chinese to stay a little longer, because they weren't ready to govern themselves? Please provide a list of ex-Montana's living in exile, that are feeding the Chinese a long list of promises, and false data about weapons of mass destruction, and promises about the outcome of a Montana invasion. Has Montana ever had a secret nuclear program? Has Montana ever possessed chemical and biological bomb? Did Montana threaten China, with nukes? Did Montana meet with Terrorist? Would Montana's hang their dictator? Once China invades Montana, are South Dakota, and Washington state people going to sneak into Montana and try to start a civil war, and put on suicide vests?
If you haven't noticed Bush threatened to pull out, and Iraq pulled an agreement out of their azz. Personally, it would have been fine with me, if they'd have asked us to leave. Just move down south, and watch the civil war explode. We broke it, so we have to fix it. You think people are dying now, just see what happens if we turn tail and run.
Iraq has already asked us to leave.
Leaving the country is not turning tail. Why is it up to the U.S. to sort out their WAR? Why are we there? Why are we spending BILLIONS actually Trillions of OUR money for them? They have a SURPLUS budget. This has been going on for a long time, they have been at war since the fall of the Ottoman Empire. We are just another player that all sides hate.
You want to be in charge of figuring out who we should work with, and who we shouldn't. Bet you find it difficult to pick a clean third world leader, to back. Bet no matter what you did, someone would be on the internet second guessing you with hindsight, instead of foresight..........
I don't want anything to do with making the decisions. I do know what we are doing now is not working. We are not protecting AMERICAN freedom. We were never attacked by Iraq, we should be focusing this attention in Afghanistan and Pakistan.
Did Iraq gas it's civilians? Yup, with the gas and Anthrax that the United States provided them with in the 80's.
I am not trying to argue that Saddam was a nice guy. I am saying that there are TONS of countries in the world where crimes of humanity have taken place and STILL are taking place and we haven't set one foot in these places. Why is that?
Iraq had NO NUCLEAR weapons and no capability of having them within the decade.
Iraq did not meet with any terrorists. If you had a clue of how that country worked and Saddam's philosophy.
Al quada was NEVER in Iraq until the United State went in as an occupying force. We created a breeding ground there for them. Again, if I were to "accidentally" kill your ENTIRE family with a bomb that hit your child's school, would you be mad? Would you want revenge? I bet you would. How would you get your revenge. Maybe strap yourself with C4 and take it out on the foreign country that is living in your neighborhood?
THAT IS THE POINT YOU ARE MISSING.
Iraq has already asked us to leave.
