Thinking about buying a proclimb

Look at he new loser Doo rider trying to convert everyone to horizontal steering! Pure Sacrilege!!!!! :face-icon-small-ton

HAHAHAA!!!!

Around 18,000 miles or so on the cat/ vertical setups... and 853 on the doo since april.

I'm not sure I quite qualify as a doo guy JUST yet... but I will say that when you set it up intelligently, "laydown" steering works very well, but it just has to be more vertical than an older doo imo, or it shoves you back on the sled.

Haha! And everyone thought we were completely nuts for doing this to my buddies old M series. :face-icon-small-hap

you know... when I bought my first race sled, I got used to it FAST... and really liked it, actually preferred it over the M, I thought after that I'd be able to hop on an XP & just RIP... um yeah, no. STILL hated the xp. Still do dislike the XP.... and it's all about steering post position.

Wait, BCIL you as an extreme rider took out a mountain sled to test with 6 inch wide skis and found it wouldn't turn going downhill.......

LOL I don't know where to start.

You know you can't listen to anything he has to say. He says he is a jumper and wonders why the sled does not turn going down hill! None of em turn in the air. The he says he rides the trees, I've got some reliable sources that tell me his wife rides in the trees and he is like an antelope....afraid of trees!!! You just don't know what to believe anymore.

The stock skis suck. Worst in the industry. I replace mine before I even ride the sled. They are a whole different handling machine with PP skis, or any other quality ski besides the crappy stockers.

Take that sled and narrow it up, would have been sold, the other stuff (skis, post, bars etc.. ) is easy to do's anyway.

Since I'm pretty close to you now a narrowed up 146 might be in the making ;) after a bit anyway.

So... shouldn't this comment be "Cat as a company sold a sled with 6" skis, and expect people to buy it?" You're instead blaming the potential customer for not modding the sled before buying it?

This is a strange comment to me.

I was impressed with a bunch of things about it, but you get snippy about the one downside I point out... and many others agree with?

Well I seem to remember hearing somewhere that the stock Cat ski sucked and shouldn't leave the showroom, so using hat as a negative re this sled seems a bit suspect. LOL. and taking a nice Comfortable handling Cat and messing with the steering and rider position so it's screwed up like a Doo , just seems wrong. At first I thought the 6000 posts explaining your decision to change decals was to be informative and cause debate, admirable, but I'm starting to think the one you're trying hard to convince your decision was correct ........ Is you !
The Doo is a great sled, It should be by now, they've put bandaids on the ski stance, the rear skid, the track, the steering, the running boards, and the clutching, but really it's still an 08 XP, with ribbons.
Cat and Poo have had their growing pains, but good for them for the changes like the chassis in 11 for Poo and in 12 for Cat. Cats chassis needed work but this year seems maybe theyre better, Poo obviously hit the mark just by sales numbers.
You're gonna see a new Doo cause their numbers are gonna start shrinking again, the other two are putting out a great product, and the bandaids are all used up.
Enjoy what you bought, have fun and if you just can't stand to be a Doo rider, as it seems from your posts, sell it and buy a Cat again. LOL.

I find it so odd that everyone complains about the skis. I think a large number complain just because they hear everyone else complaining. Myself i don't mind them. Yeah they don't work great if you're riding slow as they don't really float at all. But when I'm really riding aggressively i can dig that ski in and get that front end down hard to make some really wild turns with it. Especially when I'm in going downhill. You can just lean it into the snow and counter steer and it'll bite hard. I know I'm in the minority but i actually don't hate them.

I will agree on being able to manuever slow downhill stuff with these skis is nice. They do dig in allowing you to get more of a bite for whichever way you need to turn. THat part I do like, but when you let off the throttle and they instantly dive? Now that kinda sucks..

My buddy and I both bought Prolites 162 's this year. Only out once so far togeteher, switched back and forth to see differences. He picked his up with Jaws pipe, controller, and can with Powder Pro skis, and adjustable riser. Mine i got with just Jaws can , stock skis, HCR riser. we wereout in deep ,not set up snow with crappy visibility, we werent able to do any long climbs. out in the meadows they were pretty even but i think the pipe is gonna show up more on the big climbs, we'll see. i purposely left the stock skis on cause ive read on here some guys were liking them, not me, they sucked, especially going down steep in deep snow. Thank god for the belly pan, cause the skis do nothing but sink, I hated them, so did buddy, swithching back on forth we agreed the PP equipped sled was way more fun, coming down and turning back up, the PP were way easier and effective. . The trail was groomed on way out, the PP were even better there, but not as much difference. As soon as we got back I took the skis off, test over, I just put Polaris grippers on, my favorite ski. Going out again today, riding tomorrow and sunday, i"ll let you know my opinion.

LOL, in all the years you have made snide and insulting comments you justify them with they were all made in fun. As was this one pointing out that you of all people knew those skis would cause the actions you saw.

I put my stock skis back on last weekend and my "power steering" returned but I lost some flotation from the PPs. Think I will get Poo grippers, are they a straight bolt on?

I used the Poplaris bolts, they are beefier so youll have to drill out the spindle bushing, and i used the Cat rubber, gonna use it this weekend but i think i'll pick up the proper Poo rubber when i get back. Other than that easy, peasy. One of the reasons i prefer Grippers over PP, is i think the front part of the ski bends/flexs more, kind of adds a little extra front suspension. My spindles are BDX, not sure if stock is same.

Just a heads up, I've heard the Poo rubbers are junk. So might want to mod the cat rubber. No experience just word on the street....

The 14 cat rubbers work way better than the Polaris rubbers. Fill in the whole saddle area instead unlike the Polaris ones. Just have to do a little trimming to a couple nub rows on the bottom of the cat rubber, and cut the plastic saddle on the grippers to fit. Pretty easy.
