The official SnoWest GUN RANT Thread!

299080_413325645416339_258706218_n.jpg

His mother was a legal owner, hence rules would probably have an effect on her. Most of the guns start off as legal guns.... The illegal gun argument less merit than you guys offer.

This thread is stupid.

Funny how the line for available weapons is below rocket launcher and above machine guns.

I think there needs to be some repercussions for people that allow others to use their weapons for illegal activities.

Ruffy, the point of snowduck's post, is that it doesn't matter what laws are in place or created, they will only impact law abiding citizens. If somebody is going to do something as horrific as New Town, it doesn't matter what laws there are, they are going to find a way to do it. Is this so hard to see?? He violated the federal Gun Free School Zone Act by even stepping on campus with a gun. Clearly that law didn't work. Laws can be made untill lawmakers are blue in the face, but no law will ever stop someone that for one, has no respect for human life, and two, does not fear the consequences of breaking laws.

And if you think the thread is stupid, then stay out of it, don't post in it. As I have stated many times on many different debates on this site, I have no problems having civil debates with people on differing opinions. But I get tired of seeing people tell other people their thread is stupid, or their post is stupid, etc, etc. Growup, everybody is entitled to their own opinions, yourself included. Doesn't mean you have to like it, doesn't mean you have to agree with it, but at least have the common courtesy to respect the fact that we live in a country where we are allowed to have and express our own opinions.

That's all I have to say 'bout that. End of rant.

Except if you are trying to kill as many people as possible in a crowded environment in as short of time possible?

The effectiveness / efficiency of the weapons are not the same. To say so is silly.

They both shoot the same cailber ammo and they both accept the same hi cap mag. So tell me what is the difference?

I'm going to go out on a limb here and assume you have no idea that the bottom riffle is a Ruger Mini 14 same cailber, some mags will fit both the mini 14 and ar 15,(just Ramline I think) even some of the early version, I think it's a mini 14GB even had a flash guard and bayonet lug.

If you want schooled in guns Ruffy just ask, I may not know much, but I know guns and the history of guns. So if you want, school can be in session. :face-icon-small-ton

Ruffy you make be confused with a M1 carbine that does look similar to the average guy, that weapon shoots a 30 cailber and came standard with either a 15 or 30 round clip.

To make that statement misses the issue of where "illegal" guns come from. It also misses the point of where the guns the people use in the school shootings come from. Don't most of them come from law abiding citizens that are not secured properly? Ie they are stolen?

The irony is thick on this one... The thread is stupid because it is a collection of pictures about pro-gun propaganda. I am making it less stupid.. lol

tog,

You are right I don't know much about weapons. I assumed the weapon in the picture was this.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M1_Garand

Would we not agree that the picture is supposed to make most think that it is an older non-magazine fed weapon?

Would we agree that if both guns had large capacity magazines attached to them that the effect of the image would be completely different? As in both would be labeled as assault weapons? (if accurate or not)

Ok Ruffy, let's use that mentality. Let's just say then, that somebody steals a car, after they steal a car they then proceed to run over a group of unsuspecting bicyclists riding down the road. So, in this scenerio by your mentality, would this be the law abiding car owners fault? Or the non-law abiding car theifs fault? Why should law abiding citizens be punished for the acts of the non law abiding???????

You are absolutely right with your example, though I think equating a gun (something designed to kill people) with a car (something designed to transport people) is a stretch.

Does the mother of the son whose child killed the kids bear no responsibility for allowing (out of ignorance?) her son to take her guns?

To counter your argument, adults bear some responsibility for giving minors liquor. Bartenders bear some responsibility for over serving people liquor.

Is the answer that nothing on the gun side of things can be changed to mitigate some of what is going on?

When I'm looking at a Mini 14 I know what I'm looking at :face-icon-small-sho

Maybe, but the Mini 14 was/is a popular gun with ranchers, I think most people don't consider it a assualt weapon since it has wood furniture with out a pistol grip. But the those two gun are just as equally deadly.

Except the AK47 of course. lol. I would be if there was a large capacity magazine on the Mini-14, more people would think it was an assault weapon than you think.

I still think that the picture is meant to mislead people into thinking the bottom one was a WWII or other older weapon that did not take magazines. Just my opinion, as always.

Ruffy, I do think that parents do bear some resposibility for their childrens actions, when they are children. The New Town shooter was a 20yr old adult. I don't care if he was f$&#ed up in the head, his mother bears no resposibilty for his criminal actions.

And if you think a car isn't a deadly weapon, then you should have a chat with the Billings police officer that recently had to shoot and kill a perp, that somehow managed to get from the back of a cop car to the front, and take off in it. In the process of speeding away from the scene of the crime, he grazed the officer (on foot) with the car. The officer is lucky he was not seriously injured or killed. Don't steal a cop car in Billings MT :face-icon-small-win

He stole his moms weapons though, somewhat enabling the situation. Note I am not saying full responsibility, but maybe if the eyes of the law allowed for some responsibility, then people would take more care in the storage and protection of their weapons.

Never said it couldn't be used to kill, just its primary purpose isn't to kill people. Most things can be used to kill people, like my corded mouse, but I think the rules and regulations for those should be separate and different than the rules for something that was specifically designed to kill and maim.

I rest my case Ruffy, your words^^ HE STOLE

He stole the guns, he chose to obtain them illeagally and furthermore commit more illeagal acts with them.

Doesn't matter whether he stole them from his mom, or broke into a pawn shop and stole them. And, as I stated earlier, he is an adult. Responsibility is on no one (his mom) or nothing (the guns) but himself.

And yes, that was ironic. I should not have said stay out of it, or don't post in it. What I should have said is, if you don't agree with something just explain why. But to say someones post, or thread is stupid is just being an a$$.
