The obama list

Would someone smarter than me please explain how MY vote for McCain in the socialist state of Washington even counts for anything in our current system of delagates???? The bottom line is it doesent!!!!! If McCain got 80% of the popular vote but as we already know, the delegates were going to vote for Obama, Obama wins, whats the point? Free country, my arse!!

VOTE LOCAL! Is'nt that the only way you can make a difference. Am I right or wrong?

I think its time for a revolution my self..... Its an excuse to stockpile amo and guns.

You can never have enough guns and ammo! I have a feeling things are going to start gettin chaotic...well more so than they are right now of course.

since the camel jockey became the democratic candidate, I have added a 12 ga., a 44mag, and two 9mm to the arsenal....... better get em now while you still can

They do the general election in a winner take all format I believe.... If mccain were to get 80% of the vote in your congressional district as he will in most of the state of washington, obama still wins the state because of the high concentration of lunatics in the seatac area. Mccain will carry 80% of the land area in this upcomming election just as every conservative candidate has in the last 30-40 years.

The electoral college is the only thing keeping this thing fair... without it, we would never see a candidate in Idaho, or montana, or any other state that isn't on the coast.

I know your frustration in placing your vote and knowing in advance it won't make a difference. for me it was the Willamette valley in Oregon, and it drove me out of the state.

That only applies to the primary.
The primaries are a joke.
The deligates choose who ever they want. how do you think McCain got in??

Once the general election starts it goes to a popular vote and the deligates really have no say unless there is a tie. Well, that or you live in florida.

you are wrong. every state does not have the same way of casting electoral votes. In idaho the 2 electoral delgates vote for us. Those votes always go repulbican. Different states have different electoral colleges. So it doesn't matter how you vote in idaho for the president. it is not counted in any way shape or form.

That's what I'm talking about! there is no reason for me to vote for the president at all, it's pre-determened in my state as in most. Obama has allready won in Washington and theres really no debate about it.

Just vote local and vote often if you want real change.

So if a vote for Ron Paul is a vote for Obama, because Obama will win, isn't a vote for McCain a vote for Obama, because Obama will win anyways too?

I guess my quote above is true after all?:p

That right there is wrong........ first of all, each state gets one vote for each senator they have, and one vote for each representative they have......

so Idaho has 4 votes in the electoral college and those votes are placed based on the popular vote in the general election.... they can't vote as they please so the fact that idaho always goes republican is because the state is very conservative and has nothing to do with the delegates being republican...

Now, this applies to the general election for president and I make no claims to begin to understand how it worked for the primaries....the primaries made no sense whatsoever.

I really hope no one shots Obama. Riots.

Ruffy, your losing it, regroup.

Even if Obama wins the state of Washington, the stronger the vote for McCain is (numbers wise) the weaker Obama will be political strength wise.

I'm convinced Obama is going to head the United States in the direction of a European Semi-Socialist government. Environmentalism, social health care, social retirement, and social redistribution of wealth (more "earned income credit"). He will do everything in his power to give our money to the poor of this country, and the poor of the world. He will help export jobs to "more deserving countries" and help shackle industry within this country.

His one piece of legislation he has put forward would transfer 850 BILLION dollars of our tax dollars to foreign countries. He is looking to destroy our economy to give everyone else our tax dollars.

Sorry, I can't agree with you on this. It is a travesty to the whole voting system to vote based on other things than the person that you want to be president. I think it is the main reason why we are getting presidents that nobody wants, because people are too cowardly to actually take a stand and vote for the person they think is right for the job. Seems like a bunch of sheep to me. I am not saying vote for Obama, vote for McCain, just vote for the guy you want to lead the country. Voting is the one major way the people have a say in THEIR government. Is it surprising that voting has become such a joke in this society, when we don't even use it how it should?

Seems on here at least (I doubt it is much different elsewhere) that people are voting for McCain just so Obama won't win. Well what happens when the majority of people are voting for McCain, but don't really want him to be president, and would rather have someone else.

Seems if those people actually voiced who they wanted they might actually get there way or at least a better opportunity for getting there way.

Before you say, well, that is not how the world works, I ask you why? Again it is the complacency of Americans for how the US system works. If you don't like it, then try and fix it. Take ownership of your country instead of taking the victim mentality. The problems in this country are from US, WE, you AND me! It is OUR country, but people seem to forget that.

Kind of like this saying...
If it was a good idea, everyone would be doing.
How do good idea's come to be? It is a chicken and the egg argument.

There is a Thursday rant for you.

Idahos electoral vote does not go by the way of the popular vote. some states do, idaho does not.
I would love to see how all the states electoral college works, because different states do it differently.

tim

i just got off of the phone with the sec of states office. every state does the electoral vote differently. In idaho there is 4 electoral votes. We vote in the elcetoral voters and they vote for us. The popular vote in idaho doesn't really matter much.
