The 2013s!!! What's stopping you from buying?

I was seriously thinking about a new XM but China and IMF's attack on the U.S. greenback has serious inflation consequences for all our everyday needs. I'll be saving my dollars so I can put gas in the tank and groceries on the table.

An administration change will not stop the coming train wreck--so--spending $10-14,000 on a sexier toy is not in my future. Sorry for the negativity but a word to the wise should be sufficient.:face-icon-small-fro

Total lower ankle rebuild again, fusing it all this time. Hope to be walking somewhat by next winter.

PRICES!!!! I just picked up a 200+ hp M1000 with less than 1000 miles for 6500.00...Runs flawless!!! Why pay twice that? The USED sled market is phenominal right now!!! ****, I could put a turbo on this thing and still be cheaper than a new sled...lol

I live in Russia and sleds in my area cost is 16000-21000$.
Relax guys. You can do exhalation. :D

The last 2 sleds I've bought ... my 06' 900 RMK I bought in 07' as a holdover and my 09' M8 I bought in '10 as a holdover .... I've saved at least $3000 on each off MSRP.

I figure the '12 Pro RMK I'm going to buy next fall will be the same :)

Hey, they work. And they wear better and perform better than the $400/tire ProComps I had. I have hauled heavy loads with them, I have went off roading with them and driven down clay soaked roads and never broke loose. I also run them them at high speeds, just for fun and no problems. So if you wanna drop $2000 for tires that's your choice, don't bash on me because I saved cash and got something that performs just as well and I'm out $500.

I got got over 50,000 miles out of a $110.00 retread tire on a 1 ton dodge diesel, Not bad.

The small amount of miles we have put on the 3 sleds we already own. I guess until the amount of riding time increases I don't need to buy new >>>>.

they dont sell 20" tires, they sell 19.5" tires... WTF? would love to try a set, but they dont even offer the size i need! :face-icon-small-fro
Nitto Grapplers are the second worst tire right behind the toyo open country A/T. PIECES OF POOOOP!

Probably shouldn't post this cause then everyone will do it, but I buy new in the fall when they have good incentives. Had good luck the last few years with the 0 down,0 month, 0% 12 month plans. Pay about $150 a month on it, Sell sled off the next fall for what I owe on it. Costing me about $1000 to ride new every year. I can save my cash to invest in other areas, and reduce liquid cash loss to a minumum per month hit instead of a large chunk all at once. Changing my cell phone plan will save me more than it will cost to ride a new sled this next year.

IMO it used to be wise to pay cash for your toys (back when they were cheap and economy was awesome). Our financial system has changed to HURT those who pay in cash. Times have changed and we need to adapt or get left behind, that goes for IRAs, 401k, investments, and everything else... :usa2:

What's stoping me, let me break it down.

Price.

Reliablity of the over priced sleds.

Places to ride an over priced, unreliable sled are shrinking.

To many restrictions, laws, and wannabe park rangers, in the fews areas that are open to ride an over priced unreliable sled.

I'm riding my reliable M1000 a few more seasons.

Great post Phatty. It's comforting to hear someone actually admit they finance sleds. I don't know anyone in my circle that doesn't and we all have great jobs.

As for the tires, WHAT THE HELL IS A WHITE BOY LIKE YOU running 20s for? ;)

used to finace a new one every year untill one year dealer said 7500 and your trade in.LMAO.those days are gone here.

I used to pay cash for them. up until like 07.

Simple economics: 11000 (cost of new sled) 9500 (sell sled) 1500(loss in price). Financing at 0% I can invest the 11000 somewhere. lets say 2.7% CD. Investment Return would be around $300. 1500-300 = $1200 spent on new sled. Thats less than alot of people put into maintaining an older sled per year. Newer sleds are generally better on belts and oil and fuel mileage which saves money too. But no matter how you look at it, sledding is expensive... but so are therapy sessions at $200 a visit... :usa2:

Good deal if you want to be on a new sled every year, same type of thing people do with leasing vehicles .... same monthly payment as if it were to own, perhaps slightly less, but you get to be in something new every year or two years ...

So what do those economics look like if you plan on modding the crap out of your sled? :p ..... Seems like they'd go out the window if the sled was anything but stock .... Either way, there is wisdom in that, invest the purchase price somewhere else then just consider sledding a bill you have to pay :)

It's official now, I'm not buying a '13 because I bought a new truck and ordered a new car. I'll have to make do with my old sleds. ;)
