Tampico/Ahtanum snow report 2011/2012 part:three

Was up there today > I guess some 65 year old is lost up there Search and rescue had no idea were he was at or what he was riding.. kind of weird !! But snow was excellent !!four wheel drive or chains I would drive up 2.3 miles park on the right open spot !!! Hope they find the guy at least it was warm up there !!

I'm glad the man was found! I went up today and just when we got to good snow (12-14in) my steering post broke! So I got out the rubber hose and hose clamps and badaged the post so I could ride back to the truck. Above 6,000ft the snow is still good :).

Yup... just about the time it starts getting good... lol

Just glad it wasn't in too bad of a spot to ride it out of. Hopefully we will get some more snow so we can tear it up again.

Also glad we drove up the road... lots of gravel on the north fork in the first 3 miles:eek:

Did any of your pics/vids turn out?

Sorry Mike & I missed the ride, but then again, I'm getting tired of working on your sled. LOL!!! At least you were in a good spot, not like last year when your post broke and we were way back in the woods below the Superbowl. Al least you knew how to scab it back together to get out. If only you knew how to fix it so it wouldn't break again.:crutch:

Its gonna cost over $300 to fix it right. Chrome moly post :). This time the cast adjustable part broke. And last time was an easier ride out because it was climbing out. (No need for steering when ur skis r in the air) this time I had snow drifts and winding down hill decents for 3mi.

Yep! Not sure on condition of the snow other than lots of it but nothing fresh. Typical early spring ride. Should be fun

Unloaded about 3.5mi up north fork @ 8:30. Hard as a rock till 6,000ft then not to bad. By 12:00 it was soft enough to side hill. We had a lot of fun. Went and played on some big long hills that u would normally need a turbo to play on. (Hero snow). Or usually not enough snow coverage. A lot of snow melted on the road back to the trucks. If u go up northfork plan on driving atleast 5mi. Up. Oh yeah the jeeps tore it up pretty good today too! That is fine as far as I'm concerned because we need to share the mountain but it does make the trail a little ruff to ride.

Yup, it was a fun day for sure once the snow softened up... I do think we need to go up a little later in the day though so the snow has more time to soften up, but other than that it was a beautiful day - I have the sunburn to prove it! lol.

50 miles and I made it back to the truck on fumes after all the sidehilling and tree riding... there was actually enough snow in spots to get stuck in too, haha.

Went up yesterday, snow was soft as it hasn't frozen in a few days so it was actually a lot of fun. The weather was beautiful and warm, jeans and t-shirt ride... I have the sunburn to prove it, apparently SPF 30 wasn't near strong enough:eek::face-icon-small-hap

We drove about 7 miles or so up the North fork to unload and headed up to Blue Slide.

Mark got a good deal on a low mile 06 M7 'lightweight' so we put it through it's paces and it did really good, he was smiling ear to ear!

Went up Yesterday, May 5th.... We have lost a lot of snow in the last 2 weeks... lots of rocks showing around Blue Slide now. There wasn't as much fresh as we were expecting or hoping for as it had a few days to set up, but we did get into about 4-5" up high with drifts of about a foot or so, it was kinda unpredictable. We did manage to put on 50 miles though:D:D

We decided to head up the middle fork and hit snow at the 5 mile mark were I had to throw it in 4wd going up the small hill 1 mile east of Tree Phones. From there the road was covered solid. I tried to make it to tree phones just for a spot to turn around but the truck broke through about 50 yards from the Y and we had to unload the sleds and back out. From there I did a 35 point turn:rolleyes: and went back about 1/2 mile to park on the last wide spot in the road. I am glad it didn't auger in too deep as there was about 2.5 ft still on the road at that point.

We only saw 1 other rig parked up there and never did run into anybody all day long. There are jeep tracks EVERYWHERE on the north fork side from the roller coaster down and up to the blue slide cabin:eek:
