There were studs on a couple of the trailer tires but did not do much in this case. There was no damage other than a small spot on the back of the trailer under the door on the skirting got bent under a little. Luckily it did not totally jacknife and tear the truck or trailer tounge up. This kind of goes with my post above saying chains required. On a good note it was snowing all day yesterday and forcast is snow all week.:face-icon-small-hap Fordguy was that you that I rode by with my family yesterday at clover flats?

Nope, wasn't me... I haven't been to Tampico this year cause I haven't wanted to drive up that road up from the snow park with an enclosed.:face-icon-small-sho

I was there today. it looked like there was about 4+ inches in the lower snow park when we left around 4:30. heading up again tomorrow. and oh yeah, i'm never pulling a trailer up these roads without chains again. Heading up southfork on saturday got stuck behind someone who actually planned ahead and had chains on. They were creeping along too slow for me to keep traction. Not a good feeling when you put it in park and start sliding backwards.... P.S. probably not the best idea to park your jeep cherokee in the middle of the ice covered road whoever you may be.

GROOMING WILL COMMENCE!!!

GROOMING SHOULD START this afternoon or evening!:face-icon-small-hap The berms should go up this evening as well. I talked to the groomer contractor this morning to confirm.

The one-way loop will also start in operation this evening. Drive in through the old lot (take a left just past the bridge, like last year) to go up to both lots, go down through the new road above the work center.

01/17/2012 Snow Report 0700 hrs.
Sno-Park 22F; 3" new snow (since sunday), approximately 4" total
Green Lake 18.1F; 8" new snow (last 2.5 days), 44" total

Forecast is great for the next 3 days, decent for the next 2 weeks. It looks like :heart:winter:heart: has finally arrived!

REPORTS will be more forthcoming due to finally having something to write about. Besides, I said Middle Fork was a beotch:devil:, and to use North Fork:face-icon-small-coo. Based on the pictures and stories above; did anybody even listen?:tea: Just sayin...

Watch for avy's and wear a beacon! Gonna be deep!

FYI, Tamp....we road on Monday, parked at the new snopark, rode up Middle Fork, track spinning on the ice below. We rode most of the day, hit the cabin at Blue Slides and then came back down North Fork. Let me tell you, we were doing more sliding on the ice below the thin layer of snow than we did going up. Just sayin....:face-icon-small-hap:face-icon-small-ton

OK! OK! Here they are: (A week and a half ago, I took my brother in law out for a ride to Section 3. My wife let him ride her sled. Unfortunately, I left the camera in the trailer, but he caught the bug. Monday morning we were at Valley Marine picking up his brand new 2011 M8 SnoPro 162 and then we were off to Tampico. This guy is like a kid in a candy store, just havin' a ball:face-icon-small-hap)

Too bad you don't want to go Friday night after work... I'm not gonna go up Thursady after a full day of work when I have to get up bright and early Friday morning for work again:face-icon-small-sho:clock::face-icon-small-sad:nono::whip:

Here are the latest conditions:

01/18/2012 Snow Report 2000 hrs.
Sno-Park 19F; 9" new snow (last 48 hours, approximately 12" total; currently freezing drizzle, freezing rain, sleet.
Green Lake 34.0F; 13" new snow (last 48 hours), 53" total

Forecast is for more snow, but Green Lake temps are above freezing (not a mis quote), and freezing rain now here near the sno-park; bears watching. Green Lake has been above 32F since 1pm, while the valley has been cold, also Green Lake temps have slowly risen all day. My rigs have a layer of ice on them now, and it is not melted snow. Not what I was expecting. I still think it is snowing on top, and I do not know what level the inversion is at.

North Fork Rd. is plowed, the parking lots are being plowed for the 2nd time tonight. Grooming has NOT started and berms are not up. The last I heard was tomorrow from the contracted groomer operator (version 4.0).

I will try to post quickly tomorrow morning as to whether snow or more freezing rain. Roads will be slick.

Remember, high avalanche hazard; rain could make this worse.

Not sure about tomorrow night, trying to get all day Friday off for a regular ride-but you never know!

Icy!

01/019/12 0600 Quick Update:

SnoPark 19F light freezing rain, snow has a definate crust
Green Lake 32.9F no new snow, but an additional 0.3" precip (should be 2-3" snow), 53" total.
Forecasts are for changing over to snow today.

Thanks for the updates guys. We ended up staying in Kennewick today due to horrible roads. Possibly heading that direction this weekend though.

My riding partner went today and said it is horrible, no snow. I think everyone should stay home this weekend, I will take a spin around tomorrow and saturday to see if conditions get better! I will post back later.:face-icon-small-ton

Went for a short night ride. Unloaded @6pm in upper park 17degrees. Went up northfork to bluelake turnoff, played in the meadows and sidehilling all that we could. The farther u went up the warmer it was. @ 6,000 ft it was in the 30's and wet heavy snow! Got back to the trucks @ 10:00 pm and it was 10deg. Whole suit frozen, zippers frozen, goggle straps frozen, helmet frozen. Lol I spent half the time leaning over my windshield wiping the snow off the headlights.

That was a really fun night ride last night. I was like a walking ice cube when we got back to the truck. Rolled into the driveway at midnight. Heard that the trail to Treephones and up is brutal. Desperately need some grooming. North Fork is a little better but not much. Without grooming, by Sat night that place is gonna look like a war zone. Saw a lot of rigs coming down as we were headed up, must have been a busy day up there. One thing to keep in mind, is to remember to turn left into the old road into the snow park. The signage is small. I blew right by them last night and didn't see any signs until I was just starting up the hill and there was no way I was gonna stop pand turn around pulling an enclosed. Luckily, no one was coming down. So just remember to take the left turn after the bridge.
